I needed a car fast as mine needed repair. the guys sorted it all and i picked it up an hour later. new model - R line so nice and quick.
only a 4 star as the central console hadnt been fully cleaned.

I called Watford to enquire about renting a car and was met by a rude, arrogant and extremely condescending man. He was so dismissive, telling me that he “couldn’t understand” me and that I should call back or get someone who “speaks better English” to call on my behalf.

I appreciate that my English may not be perfect, but the way I was spoken to left me feeling belittled, embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable.

I can’t help but question whether I was treated this way because I’m not English. The attitude I experienced was completely unacceptable.

I will be writing directly to the CEO to formally raise this complaint and demand that action is taken. Racism or discrimination of any kind is completely unacceptable, and no customer should ever be made to feel this way because of their background, nationality or level of English.

Do all your rental staff have this same attitude towards customers who don’t speak perfect English? I certainly won’t be using this company

Hands down the best experience I have had renting a car. Very straightforward process, collection and drop off. Richard who looked after us truly an asset for the VW group. We will be back for sure.

Very easy and straightforward to book and reserve a vehicle, whether online or over the telephone.

I initially needed a vehicle for a relatively short period, but my rental was extended several times due to delays with my new vehicle. Each time, the process was handled quickly and without any difficulty.

For longer rentals of two weeks, one month or more, Citygate Volkswagen Car Rental offered excellent rates that Enterprise simply could not match. Unlike Enterprise, they were also far more flexible with long-term rentals and did not impose unnecessary restrictions on the rental period.

The service at VW Citygate Watford provided a much more personal, one-to-one customer experience. I have previously rented from both the Colindale and Bushey branches, and the level of service has always been consistently excellent.

My most recent rental began in the first week of March and ended on 8 July, meaning I had the vehicle for approximately three months. Throughout that time, Richard Scheininger, the Rentals Manager, was outstanding. He made the entire rental process easy, straightforward and completely hassle-free. His professionalism, flexibility and excellent customer service made a real difference, and he was always happy to accommodate any changes to my rental.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in renting from Richard and the Citygate team again. If you are looking for excellent customer service, competitive pricing and genuine flexibility, particularly for long-term rentals, I would highly recommend them.
