Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We had to make an emergency visit to the vets late at night.
They were very helpful and supportive.

Brilliant service on a Sunday - put my mind at ease and followed up with consultation notes for my own vet. Would use again.

DO NOT LET YOUR ANIMAL GO HERE! Our dog of 2yrs old was killed at the hands of neglect and incompetence! She arrived with what we now know was bladder stones blocking her bladder. Completely healthy dog and she allegedly had heart failure under anaesthetic while under fitting a catheter! The notes and invoices show absolute incompetence and over dose of drugs! Going to view our deceased dog on the operating table with her large harness still on! Who even operated with a harness still on and how on earth was CPR performed with that still in place! It wasn’t let’s face it! You have more chance of your dog surviving a medical emergency at home than in the care of this incompetent place!

We had an emergency trip to vets now with our nursing dog , the vet was friendly, very informative and supportive in the information and care he provided . Also fully made us aware of costs without being pushy and options either way . We came away feeling more at ease and our dog improving after antibiotics .

All of the staff, from the receptionists to the vets, are incredibly professional, friendly and helpful. Every time I've had to take one of my dogs there, I have felt that they are receiving the best possible care.

The service worked but I was charged £637 to euthanise a small cat on a Sunday morning in an appointment that lasted 10 minutes. This company turns over more than £100m and is making more than £12m a year from ripping off customers. Given that it is private equity owned it seems more interested in making money than in the welfare of animals which is now only affordable for the wealthy.

I just felt that this device wanted to do as little as possible for maximum price. I paid 370 pounds to see a vet who gave my cat a pain relief injection and a days worth of antibiotics for quite a nasty laceration. I know OOH services are pricey but I had to attend my own vets the next morning who charged me less to do a full stitch up of the would and antibiotic cover for a week . Note this included a general anaesthetic!!
I’m sorry but it just seemed that they wanted us in and out asap ! I was not impressed!

Felt very confident in the reception we had and in the staff we met. We were listen to and that transfered to the care and rest for our dog for his overnight stay. He was calm and rested when we collected him and his overnight hydration was successful.

Hi we attended Worcester surgery, vet was good ,but financial side absolutely awful, been waiting for over a month for a refund from paying on the night, they have been paid by insurance company weeks ago, try a different vets if possible

I have given 1 star for 2 reasons :
We had to wait for over 4 hours with our pet due to only 1 vet being available that day....People had to sit on the floor & stairs as they waited !
Shocking price for a touch of colitis & also the poor service as noted above. Wd put many people off getting help for their pets at w/ends & bank.holidays.
Meds used were only regular ones you wd find in any surgery so hard to justify the pricing for our tiring visit....

Although I appreciate that costs have risen and an OOH appointment are undoubtedly going to cost more £307 just for a consultation is completely unreasonable.
Also was shocked that an amount was applied to my bill for blood donation which wasn’t mentioned and I only new about as I had asked for an invoice. Not only this but was charged for a full 78g tube of medication that my very small kitten would of only had a very small dose of. Again I understand that a new tube needed to be opened and therefore I would need to pay for it but as I was not given any proof this was a new tube or that the rest of the tube was discarded. My concern would be that a habit is being made of charging individuals full price every time even when a new tube hadn’t been used.
On a positive note all staff were lovely and professional and give my kitten the care he needed.

Really efficient service, did not disclose the initial consultation cost to me prior to booking.

Consultation within 10 minutes of calling and a very sympathetic vet who advised me what I needed to do.
The refund of the consultation was also very quick.
Great service.

The welcome I received from the Vet on duty was shocking. My dog was very poorly and I was reluctant to hand him over as I wanted to stay with him whilst he was being assessed. To be told 'either you let me take him otherwise he won't be treated' wasn't the reaction I expected to receive in what was already an upsetting situation. No explanation was given as to why I couldn't stay with him until I complained about the way I was spoken to and then it became clear and I fully understood. I little more tact would have been appreciated.
