Save your money and get a proper representative

Full of promises about help advice and support when you need it at work and free legal advice, then when it comes to the crunch will provide bad or no advice and tell you to do all the work.
If it were a business it would be reported to trading standards for false advertising.

Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money. Tell me why I needed representing and phoned them up and could not get through to anyone. Left a voice mail and they got back to me a week later. Well for them that’s something isn’t it. Absolutely useless! Unsubscribe and keep your money.

Terrible service was actually bullied by one of the reps when I was a manager still waiting for an outcome from that now I am off work with stress getting no support and basically being told to tackle my issues myself- what am I paying them to do ?

Disgusting behaviour and no support

If i had an option for 0 stars I would have chosen that one..
We had a case of discrimination, bullying and unfair treatment at work, we escalated to QEHKL branch and the support was non existent. Not only she came unprepared in the one and only informal meeting that she attended, after thaf she refused to help and support us to raise a formal grievance, she refused to attend any other meetings with us, she mistreated us and didn't provide any support or help!
She also accused us of being not truthful and she never even had a look on the proof that we had collected over the years of that nasty and toxic treatment!
Don't waste your money, as if you will really need their support it will be non existent and iam saying this not only from my personal experience but from experiences of 4 more staff!
They have been left alone fighting for their rights and one of them even heard the following : " good luck in your next job! You have no case, we can't support you"
The morals are non existent and the attitude is disgusting!
Do not choose union that is running by the staff that they work for the hospital as they will never challenge the HR or any of the managers! They don't care for your problems or suffer..

Too Big To Care

Unison sucks up to the Government like the sycophants they are, made up of fat cat bosses who want your hard earned money. All unions are the same.

Labour receiving a percentage of unison contributions owe us a public enquiry

Unisons trust pilot reviews. I've never seen anything like it. If they were a private company they would be headlining crime watch and Bankrupt.
Last year they advise members to reject pay offer which they did whilst 2 other unions accept. They Ballot on strike action and urge members to vote yes which they did. They return to members advising to now accept the original offer on the strength this year's deal would be in place by 1st April 2025. £15 per hour was the main goal for low paid workers.
Appeasing management, safeguarding their cosy office jobs paid in full by the local authority, who also contribute to the rent of their buildings is surely a conflict of interests.
A Public enquiry is required into the relationship between unison, councils and unisons so called free legal advice. Systematic approach to ensure any tribunal dates are missed. We need a campaign similar to the post office enquiry to finally end public sector corruption

If you deciding between Unison & GMB - pick GMB

If your like me a few months ago thinking should I go for Unison or GMB pick GMB, if you work in the healthcare system UNISON is not the better option infact the worse I honestly thought it was my branch but the whole UNISON seems to be the same I know someone personally in UNISON and she's great but not my area there is far more bad than good....

They pick and choose what they help you with, they have no idea how to do early Conciliation and their complaints department don't even respond theyll soon respond when they realize my DD has stopped.

Whilst fighting my work place I also had to fight my Union.

GMB came in and saved me wish I'd of never moved from them

I was represented

I was represented. Paid my fees and part way through my allegation, my representative informed me that Unison could no longer represent me. I have submitted multiple complaints, to no avail. I want my fees back. You are a disgrace.

BRADFORD 🤯🤯🤯I wish I had read these…

BRADFORD 🤯🤯🤯I wish I had read these reviews before I joined . I thought joining a union ... I would feel supported and my would feel they had my back . But it's be been the absolute opposite. They have actually upset me due to their inability to show any understanding and I always just feel like I'm just an inconvenience to them . I am going through the process of a work investigation! It's now been 3 months since it started and I was initially told it would take 4/6 weeks. I've been following Acas's guidelines and then I get a call from the Bradford rep ...! Saying in an abrupt manner "YOU HAVE TO STOP SENDING THE INVESTIGATOR EMAILS " THEN WENT ONTO TO SAY " THE INVESTIGATION TAKES AS LONG AS IT TAKES" 🤬😱🤷‍♀️! NO SUPPORT OR UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THIS INVESTIGATION IS IMPACTING MY HEALTH. I am obviously a nuisance to him ! I have since expressed " I'm perfectly within my rights to email the investigators and ask for a timeline and progression of the investigation . There has been other things too but it makes me feel to anxious to talked about it . I have previously spoken to the company secretary as I made a complaint. She was pretty aggressive and rude . All she did was defend the rep and said he was her best representative. Unison had just added to the stress and I don't feel supported at all .I don't feel there is anyone I can take this to at unison . What I don't understand if they have so many bad one star reviews.... why isn't anything being done about it ????🤷‍♀️

Waste of money

Waste of money, would not recommend paying for this service as it’s a waste of money. Really bad communication, they don’t respond to calls or messages!

Absolute joke - avoid at all costs

Absolute joke. They are supposed to represent workers. They couldn't give a monkeys. They talk the talk but do nothing and haven't even got the courtesy to answer or respond to communication.

Feels Like a Ponzi Scheme

I joined expecting support but received none. When I requested a refund, the Unison London email turned out to be the wrong branch. Calling them just leads to disconnections. Save your money—you’re better off using ChatGPT than paying for this.

Spineless cowards!

You’d think in the public sector claims of disability discrimination would result in robust support and victim centred outrage from a union who prides itself for being there when needed the most. Yet in my case I couldn’t have been further off the mark! From being given poor advice which later impacted a tribunal claim to just not being there during the times when needed the most (grievance meetings etc) these cowards are quick to take your money, not provide any help and the cherry on top, to then side with the employer because it’s the path of least resistance.

I hope your entire organisation collapses.

Zero stars UNISON

Firstly, I would like to say that it is noteworthy that UNISON does not respond to the reviews being posted. Please steer clear of them, as this is the level of input you will receive when you need them. I have been a member since 2004, and needed their help regarding a greiviance I raised. Neither my Unison Rep nor her Regional Organiser advocated for me, instead they were complicit with my employer, and a Subject Access Request evidenced this... Word of advice, save your monthly subscription dues in an account for the services of an employment Solicitor in the event that you ever need one.

Useless

Very similar to other comments, absolute waste of time, don't know what I've wasted my money on being part of this useless union. When I have needed them recently they ignore calls, have repeatedly asked for a call back and still waiting for the call back, literally been paying money for nothing. Will be cancelling my membership. Do not recommend anyone joining this waste of space union

Awful

Awful. Have been paying for 6 years and when I needed help with my trust not paying my SMP I got no contact back. Every time I rang they said my trust rep will be in touch… nearly 5 months later and they have still not been in touch despite me ringing to chase up multiple times. Will be cancelling and going to the RCN instead. What a waste of money all these years.

Do not sign up with Unison

Do not sign up with Unison. I have been waiting for about 2 months to find out who my rep is. When I phone I'm treated like I am a pain. Last time I phoned I was told 'the list has gone round but nobody decided to take you'. WHAT..PARDON!!!! What have I been paying for. Got a meeting with HR tomorrow and I am having to go with no representation.

First time I needed Unison

First time I needed Unison. Problems at work took a toll on my mental health. Initially, my rep was nice, but that didn't last. I couldn't get hold of her. She wouldn't return my calls when she was supposed to. She didn't speak up for me at meetings. My wages were cut, and an overpayment was taken from my wages. My rep said this was not allowed and arranged a meeting. She said nothing at the meeting. Afterward, she said there was no point fighting them for my money. I left my job and cancelled Unison. I would never recommend Unison to anyone.
