U-Box reservation experience

This is for my U-Box reservation. If you are reserving U-Box for interstate move, you are on your own coordinating pickup and delivery schedule with local locations.

I called my local location in Georgia to schedule a pickup. Since nobody was available to pickup the phone at that location, I was transferred to central customer care. I made clear to them that I have two U-Boxes in a Georgia location and I want to schedule a pickup for these boxes. I made this clear to them because I have another two U-Boxes in Colorado home from where I am moving. Central customer care transferred me to delivery scheduling. It turned out that they transferred me to Colorado location, and they told they cannot schedule for Georgia location (I had similar experiences earlier when I called U-Haul, this time at this point I was frustrated and little rude to the person I was talking to). I told them I don't care which location I am talking to since I was transferred by their central customer care, but that person got irritated and transferred me to another number. This time I started conversation asking which location am I talking to. Person on the other side said, she is not at any location. I explained the reason for calling, and she ended the call saying she is at Atlanta location and it was not their location, so she cannot do the scheduling for my boxes and transferred me to another number. Again I started the conversation with next person asking which location he is at. He replied he is not at any location. I told him what happened with last person. Anyway this person was able to schedule the box pickup.

In summary, I started dialing my local U-Haul location and after being transferred multiple times, I think I was transferred to my location local location to accomplish what I needed.

This is my experience with just last call with U-Haul. I had to call them multiple occasions during this move and experience have been same. After one of my previous calls, I had logged a complaint with them regarding my experience, not sure what happened to that.

I will have to deal with this for the other two boxes that I am yet to ship from Colorado.

Uhaul has apparently decided to act as…

Uhaul has apparently decided to act as THE transportation method o for scores of white supremacists in a number of organizations. They allow them to transport scores of men inside the cargo area of their vans to and from their protests and rallies. I refuse to support any company that is giving aid to hate groups.

Uhaul Never Delivered

Uhaul Never Delivered

I ordered service 2 weeks ago, to move a family of 4. Last night at 5:45 p.m. they canceled my truck, and said that I needed to re-book another time. My movers were scheduled to move the next morning. They were unbelievably rude, and this created chaos as I had to re-schedule everything. Also, cost me an additional $800. I reached out to Uhaul, and they offered no help whatsoever.

Excuses, Excuses, U-Haul don't care.

I took off from work today (Sunday), June 1, 2025, to have a tow hitch installed in Linden, NJ. My appointment was for 1 pm, well, at 1241 pm, when I was one mile away, I got a call from them. They said that the tow hitch never came. They couldn't call me on Saturday, and I would have call my boss and went back to work on Sunday. This is the second time I have had a problem with U-Haul about the tow hitch. They don't care about their customers and use a troll to say your review is not their fault. They don't even try to help you get an appointment when you are off from work, he said to me, call other U-Hauls to see if they give you an appointment when you are off. He should have said, let me check to see if I can get you an appointment. I guarantee you that they will have another excuse for next weekend.

I had a confirmed reservation with…

I had a confirmed reservation with U-Haul that was supposed to be picked up by 12 PM. When I arrived on time, I was shocked to be told that my reservation had been cancelled — with absolutely no prior notice. No call, no text, no email. Just cancelled.

This is completely unacceptable, especially when people rely on U-Haul for time-sensitive moves and planning. The lack of communication and accountability is incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I expected much better from a company of this size. This experience has left me seriously questioning whether I’ll use U-Haul again in the future.

Beware of reservation that aren't

Renting for one-way is the trademark service of U-Haul, but beware; a reservation doesn't mean you'll get the truck you reserved or where you reserved it. They call/email you the day before to tell you what it will actually be. In my case instead of a 20' we got a 15' and instead of pick up 4 miles from home we had to drive 45miles (x2 back & forth). Destroyed my planing.

Very poor judgement on u-haul’s part

I’ve used u-haul several times in the past… that is until I watched videos of NAZIS loading up in one. Your business is done. The world knows by now you’re the largest transporter of Nazis in the nation. Hope you go broke.

U haul and white supremacists

The fact that U haul is allowing modern day white supremacists to use their vehicles to move around (which is illegal) to transport people in the back they should screen their applicants better and not allow any kind of negative activities to take place while in use of their trucks it give u haul a bad name and a terrible reputation U haul you can do better than this..

Do you think it's a coincidence that the proud boys and other racist, hateful groups rent from U-haul? No. And the company does nothing to stop it or speak out against it, even when it goes against their policy of transporting humans in the back. Unfortunately U-Haul, like Tesla, is becoming synonymous with racism and hate.

5.26.25 Many comments here talk about prosecuting, fining, jailing the employers hiring illegals, like Walmart, and someone mentioned McDonald's, but U-Haul hires non-English speaking low level workers also. When I worked for the U-Haul in Oakland, CA at 8000 San Leandro St., I saw several hired employees there who couldn't speak 5 words in English. The corrupt U-Haul Corporation’s Manager at that location, manager Uncle Calvin, lied his ass off at my 2023 Workers Compensation so-called “Trial” and the lying corrupt Gallagher-Bassett lawyer, Harma the Indian hit man for U-Haul, both aspired to crush me in court, a lowly Yard Worker injured on the job. … The Workers

Compensation so-called “court” accepted the highly flawed, and skewed Qualified Medical Review
(QME) (By company QME so-called “doctor” for the corrupt U-Haul hitmen at the terrible Gallagher-Bassett Corporation whose sole purpose is to lessen the cost of injured workers to a corporation. … The lying incompetent QME so-called “doctor”--Patrick J. McGahan--lied his ass off and submitted a
QME that looked at none of my relevant medical records, because there were none. He lied to the court, like lying Uncle Tom manager Calvin B. and lying company lawyer Harma lied to the simple minded Workers Compensation

so-called female judge chosen by Harma, who accepted the lies and terribly flawed QME. Then after I lost my Workers compensation case, my company surgeon (Concentra) ordered me pay him $350 for a comprehensive medical report, that totally refuted the
flawed QME that U-Haul accepted as accurate. But the California Workers Compensation judge, U-Haul, Gallagher-Bassett, Harma and manager Uncle Calvin saw that report (I ran out of money to submit that report the Superior

Court!) but totally ignored it, and fired me. U-Haul and its billionaire owner trashed me, but I want the world to know of U-Haul’s corruption. For any readers here look at this: “For long-distance moves, Penske offers the best value.”
I’ll use Penske instead of corrupt U-Haul. Keith L. (author of the best-selling book: Memoirs of an African-American Navigator, and FIRST black graduate of Cal Maritime University-Academy, in the Deck Department) fired by U-Haul for getting hurt on the job!

Abysmal

Abysmal, terrible, horrible

I tried to rent a truck and trailer they accepted the reservation scheduled me the equipment then changed the pickup-drop-off to another province then to a location closer that added an additional 70km mileage each way plus fuel.
When I called I was told the location I was given originally stopped being a U-Hail depot a month pervious. they offered 3 more potential locations all an hour drive away all adding more and more mileage.

And that's where the "service" ended no further discussion no options no adjustment for the screw up no mileage change. the only reason I know of those options is because they routed me through the USA who's customer service rep swam laps around the Canadian version who left me feeling I was interrupting her coffee break or something.
Our house sold and we must move so on top of the Canadian housing crisis U haul decided to add to the stress and rip me off !! What happened to U-Haul they used to be great now its terrible

Abandoned on 495

Don’t ever rent from them. I’ve been broke down on the side of 495 in a northeaster storm for over 7 hours and still no solution from roadside assistance. They keep saying we are getting a mechanic or we are working on the tow truck but yet here I sit in a truck with no power, no heat in 37 degrees and pouring rain. They offered a 30 dollar dinner voucher to have DoorDash or Uber deliver food to us on the side of the highway but yet can’t get us off the highway. The truck didn’t even have 19,000 miles on it. Save yourself the pain and go with Penske or literally anyone else. Hell most don’t even charge miles. Absolutely garbage

Horrible experience with UHaul

Horrible experience with UHaul, I had a preferred pickup location right inbetween my girlfriend’s house and mine. They never called the day before my reservation to CONFIRM the pickup location, instead I had to call them after I received a notification they changed my pickup to an HOUR away from any of ours houses (no warning or call). Then I contacted customer support and had them change it back to my location and it was confirmed and would be “ready for pickup.” I show up at my designated pickup time and date and was surprised to see no key, several trucks in the size I requested, but the store was closed. I called support and was greeted by two rude customer services representatives saying “my boss isn’t in today” and “I can only have you pickup at the further away location.” I lost 500$ becuase I had to drive two hours and missed my cleaning crew appointment and lease key drop off appointment. We struggled to make our timeframe and busted our ass to move to TN. Once we settled in, I decided to call the “boss” and was greeted with an unfriendly and rude man. No empathy behind his “sorry” and said I was already awarded a 80$ compensation for not meeting the guarantee. He said he was sorry and that’s all he could do and said “bye” and hung up. What a horrible experience this has been. Will never recommend this company or service to anyone in my life.

U-Box placed in wrong location.

This is for the Research Blvd. location in Austin, TX. I ordered a U-Box. They had me send them 3 photos where I wanted the box delivered. When the box was delivered it was placed in the wrong location requiring us to go down 7 steps to fill it. The delivery guy did not knock on our door and let us know the box was there. I kept watching for it where it was supposed to be placed on the driveway and with no steps. By accident I noticed the box on the street. I am partially disabled. I called the location back and asked them to come back and put the box on the driveway so that we wouldn’t have to carry everything down 7 stairs. They REFUSED! I was very upset. I spoke with the office manager who backed up the person answering the phone. They had made the mistake, would not correct it, and left it to me to deal with. Uncaring. Poorly organized operation.

Bad experiences with renting trailers

I've rented 3 separate uhaul trailers in April 2025. Two of them had tire issues which were a major pain.

One was a 5x8 cargo single axle one-way rental from Annapolis to Michigan, and fortunately I discovered the day before departure that one tire went flat while sitting in my driveway. Uhaul dispatched a repair service, and within 2 hours, the tire/wheel was swapped out with no subsequent impact on my 680 mile trip.

Another was a 6x12 cargo dual axle one-way rental for the same 680 mile trip, and this time I was not so lucky. One tire also went flat, but I did not realize it until I got onto the interstate and the trailer was swaying. I initially thought that I had not distributed the weight correctly, but when I pulled over, saw that one tire was obviously low on air. Found a place to pump it back up to 65psi, and back on the road. Two hours later, same thing. Pulled over, same tire again obviously low on air, down to 20 psi. Fortunately the PA / OH turnpikes have great service plazas every 50 miles with free air, so I thought it would be easier to keep going this way than to stop and wait for uhaul to send a repair service. Not sure this was the right call in hindsight, as it turned a 12 hour trip into a 14 hour trip, but we made it safe and sound.

Returned trailer, contacted uhaul to complain, and did not get much satisfaction -- was told that I probably picked up a nail (apparently twice in one month). Now bear in mind, I have not had a flat tire on my daily driver for at least 15 years, and in 30 days had 2 flat tires with uhaul trailers, so I think the issue is with uhaul, not with me. Bottom line for me: (a) don't trust anything coming off a uhaul lot -- check all tire pressures personally before leaving the lot, and (b) look for another vendor. I'll be checking Home Depot and Penske before trusting my trip to uhaul, and advise you to do the same.
