Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience. My flight from Malta was cancelled, resulting in a 17-hour delay to my final destination. During that time, Turkish Airlines provided only one meal voucher, despite the overnight delay. No hotel or meaningful assistance was offered. The complaint process was equally frustrating, with little transparency and only an EUR 11 travel voucher instead of a direct refund. Several other affected passengers expressed the same frustration at the airport. Disruptions happen, but customer service is what defines an airline. Unfortunately, this experience has made me choose other airlines in the future.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Turkish Airlines. What should have been a straightforward refund has turned into months of frustration, endless follow-ups, and complete disregard for customer service.

Despite being informed by Turkish Airlines staff at Istanbul Airport that I was entitled to a refund and having my request approved, I have been passed from one department to another with no resolution. Every response feels like a copy-and-paste template, with no one taking ownership of the case or actually investigating what happened.

The complaint handling is even worse than the refund process itself. Instead of listening to customers and reviewing the facts, Turkish Airlines simply closes cases without providing meaningful explanations. It is impossible to speak with someone who has the authority to resolve the issue, and every interaction leaves you feeling ignored and undervalued.

For an airline that promotes itself as a world-class carrier, the level of customer service is shockingly poor. Once they have your money, getting fair treatment becomes nearly impossible.

I have flown with many international airlines over the years, and this has been by far the worst refund and complaint experience I have ever had. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before booking with Turkish Airlines if you expect reliable after-sales service or support when something goes wrong.

Turkish Airlines Approved My €600 Compensation but Never Paid It

Turkish Airlines has completely failed to honor a compensation that they officially approved.

Due to overbooking, I was granted €600 compensation by Turkish Airlines. The airline acknowledged my right to receive this payment, yet actually obtaining it has become an exhausting and unacceptable experience.

I was repeatedly redirected between different Turkish Airlines offices. Eventually, I was told to collect my compensation at the Turkish Airlines office in Chișinău.

When I arrived, I was informed that they could not pay me because they had no cash available. I was then told that the compensation could only be transferred to a Moldovan bank account. As a Ukrainian citizen, I do not have a Moldovan bank account.

I immediately contacted Turkish Airlines through their official customer service channels and provided all the requested documents, asking them to transfer the compensation to my Ukrainian bank account. Instead of offering a solution, I was informed that Turkish Airlines cannot process compensation payments to banks in Ukraine.

This is unacceptable.

The airline has officially recognized its obligation to compensate me, yet it continues to delay the payment without providing any realistic alternative. Passengers should not have to travel to another country, open a foreign bank account, or spend weeks chasing money that has already been approved.

I have spent countless hours sending emails, collecting documents, following instructions, and contacting different Turkish Airlines representatives. Every time I receive another excuse instead of a solution.

For an international airline that advertises high standards of customer service, this level of support is deeply disappointing.

Until Turkish Airlines fulfills its legal obligation and pays the compensation it has already approved, I cannot recommend this airline. If something goes wrong during your journey, be prepared for an extremely frustrating, time-consuming, and stressful claims process.

Unhelpful. Rude. Incompetent.

Flight was so late that I missed my connection. The staff couldn’t give any reliable information. Had to check flight trackers to find out. Staff were extremely unhelpful and rude throughout the process.

Turkish Airlines is NOT a good airline

Turkish Airlines is NOT a good airline. While the flight itself might go smoothly, your problems begin the moment a flight is cancelled. They refuse to take responsibility for cancellation compensation, are extremely disorganized at airports, do not provide meal vouchers, and only assign a hotel after you have spoken to everyone at the company. Do not use Turkish Airlines, even though the in-flight service is good. My husband and I lost two days of work and vacation time because of Turkish Airlines, and they refuse to take responsibility for any of our expenses or lost wages.

⭐ Refund confirmed, money never arrived — over 30 days

Refund confirmed, money never arrived — over 30 days

Turkish Airlines confirmed my flight refund (reference 5FNOHQ1/WP, case TK-14928084), with all 4 coupons marked RF-REFUNDED. It's been over 30 days and the money has never arrived.

Every week I get a message from their processor EBANX asking for my bank details, promising payment within 5 days. I fill out the form, 5 days pass, nothing arrives, and the following week the same request comes again. It's an endless loop.

When I call or write, I'm told the case "has already been refunded" — false, I've received nothing. I need this money to book my next flight.

This isn't an isolated error — it's a system designed to wear you down until you give up on your own money. If you're thinking about booking with Turkish Airlines, know this: your money can end up "refunded" in their system and nowhere to be found in reality, for weeks on end.

If this isn't resolved soon, I will proceed with consumer protection authorities including PROFECO.

Turkish Airlines Left Us Stranded

Our flight departed Dallas/Fort Worth late due to an issue on Turkish Airlines' end. As a result, they canceled not only our connecting flight, but also our return flight to Dallas, leaving us stranded. Since then, we have tried repeatedly to resolve the situation through customer service, multiple communication channels, and follow-up requests, but have received little to no meaningful assistance. It is unbelievable to me that they can get away with cancelling flights that were due to their own issue.

Delays can happen with any airline. What sets Turkish Airlines apart, in our experience, is the complete lack of customer support and accountability after the disruption. Based on our experience, I would think very carefully before booking with them.

Most Terrible Customer Support!!

They have a terrible terrible customer service. And I am saying it is terrible!
They will connect you with low-end employees who have no power to help you. Try connecting with a manager and you will have won the lottery.
Turkish airlines is only good if we lived in a world where nothing unexpected happens. The moment you need their help to sort a situation out, they will take your money and leave you stranded. In such a case, it does not matter if you book with Turkish Airlines or something as cheap as Pegasus or Ryanair or Aegan, they are all the same. So book with the cheaper ones and save yourself some money.

My husband (Ashutosh Burman ) booked his ticket, but the airline cancelled his flight just few days. before .. It has now been four months, and despite repeated requests and follow ups, still not received any refund also not received updates or communication regarding the status of refund.
This level of customer service is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I would not recommend this airline to anyone…

bad experience , racism

I went to the wrong place, and when I asked for help to get to the right one, everyone refused to speak to me; in fact, they were incredibly racist. It got to the point where they started swearing at me in Turkish and provoking me. There was nowhere to offer information or assistance. It was a terrible experience. I was lost for over three hours until I found my way out on my own.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service: Flight cancelled at boarding and full refund refused! Turkish Airlines cancelled my flight from Santiago (SCL) to São Paulo (GRU) right at the boarding gate. Ground staff had no updates, and after waiting for hours, employees explicitly instructed us to buy a replacement ticket on another airline with our own funds and apply for a refund online afterwards.

I followed their instructions and opened support tickets. They responded saying they would review my case and contact me back, but they never did. For months, support passed me around between online forms, phone calls, and even in-person visits to Guarulhos Airport with zero resolution.

They only responded after I filed a formal PROCON complaint, offering an unacceptable partial amount that doesn't even cover my out-of-pocket ticket expenses. I am only asking for a full refund of the extra ticket I was forced to buy, I am not even including food or Uber costs, which I rightfully could. Unprofessional, terrible support, and zero respect for passengers. Avoid at all costs!

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BOOKING SYSTEM EVER MADE !!!!

I've had the most stressful experience ever with their customer support team. It took me 3 weeks trying to add a pet to a flight that's operated between 2 airlines and both of them (Turklish and Air Transat) were pointing to each other and coming up with excuses. Every time I speak with their agent, their only response is to create a feedback form and wait for the team to answer which is at least 3 days. I started the process 3 weeks before my flight and up to this day, I am typing this and don't have an answer. I asked the agent to speak with a supervisor who was too much of a coward to speak to me and I asked them to speak with the team responsible of those feedback forms and they said they don't have their number, WHAT A JOKE OF AN AIRLINE !!

What's even worse is the agent said they cannot see the pet capacity in the flights if i want to change flights so I would have to change my flight, pay the fees and after confirmation we can find out if there is space on the airline. The dog is so small she fits inside a bag between my legs so saying there is no space for her is even more of a joke.

I never had a booking issue with an airline in my life and dealing with these guys has been extremely stressful, TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!! 0 stars if possible

Very misleading refund policy.

Very misleading refund policy.

Flight RJNIDJ NAME:KAAN

We purchased our Turkish Airlines tickets for around £1,500 and understood the tickets to be refundable. We still had approximately one month before the flight, so we decided to cancel. However, despite the tickets being described as refundable, we were only offered a refund of £1,062 — meaning approximately £438 was deducted.

If a ticket is advertised as “refundable”, customers reasonably expect to receive their money back, minus a clearly explained cancellation fee if applicable. Taking almost £500 from a £1,500 booking is extremely disappointing, especially when there is still a month before the flight and the airline has plenty of time to resell the seats.

The wording around refundable tickets and the actual refund amount should be made much clearer before customers purchase. In my opinion, this is misleading and very poor customer service. We will think twice before booking with Turkish Airlines again.

Discrimination of Business class…

Discrimination of Business class passengers (the Turkish Airlines trick to solve issues with overbooking of flights to Australia)- and denying boarding to wait in the wrong line in Sofia!
There was no staff in the office or on the phone. It took us 6 hours with AI agent to get the information that now are all subsequential flights are cancelled and no rebooking allowed. We as family of four had to buy new flights on Emirates to continue our travel to Australia.
Turkish Airlines customer service gave us no concrete answers to our complains. There have been AI generated texts to each and every contact form we have sent. In order to get any reaction of Turkish Airlines customer service we had to fill out a form of “sustainability”. Booking codes and Ticket numbers did not function and brings you in a loop with an AI Bot and no human person. We have to bring this issue to court due to our suspicion that is the way that Turkish Airlines operates its business model of overbooking. Be aware of this Airline!

Don’t ever fly with Turkish Airline

Don’t ever fly with this terrible airline. I have never experienced that bad customer service in my life!!!

We were supposed to fly on business class from Tanzania to Copenhagen with a connection flight in Istanbul. At first they changed the flight from Tanzania to Istanbul for 4 hours, with the result that we only had one hour in Istanbul before flying to Copenhagen and it would be difficult for us to reach the flight. When we came to the airport in Tanzania, they could not check us in and while we were waiting we found out ourselves that they had changed the flight time again and therefore we couldn’t catch our flight from Istanbul to Copenhagen. The staff at the desk didn’t bother to tell us that. We had to find out ourselves and now we couldn’t get seatings next to each other and we are flying with to small kids. They told us that they had overbooked the flight and because we had been standing in line for 1 hour our seats were not together anymore. The staff couldn’t do anything about it. They rebooked us to another flight from Istanbul, but we had to wait 4 ours to go to Copenhagen. The customer service were so bad. They could not find out anything and could not solve the problems.
Don’t ever fly with them. Not on economy class or on business class as we did!!!

Another reason for not flying with Turkish Airline is there customer service on board. We were flying business class to Tanzania as well and they didn’t have enough food for all of us. We had the possibility to choose between two kind of meals and when we chose the chicken, there wasn’t anything left, because the passengers in front of us also chose it.

You should think that when flying on business class you would get good customer service, but it was so poor!!!

A stressful experience made worse by customer service

I see Turkish Airlines isn’t shy of negative reviews.. and my experience with Turkish Airlines was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.

Around a month before my trip, Turkish Airlines cancelled my original booking and instructed me to rebook through their app. I did exactly that, checked in online, and received both boarding passes.

After arriving in Istanbul for my connection to Amman, I was denied boarding because the boarding pass issued by Turkish Airlines would not scan. I was sent to customer service, where I spent almost four hours being passed between five different members of staff. Rather than investigating the issue, I was quoted around USD 1,000 for another ticket. Two staff members and the supervisor were dismissive, rude and showed little interest in helping. I was left stranded after 2 a.m., refused hotel accommodation, and had to pay for my own hotel and a replacement flight with another airline.

To make matters worse, on my return journey from Amman I was required to pay an additional 111 JOD before I was allowed to board my flight, despite already having a confirmed booking. I still have proof of this payment.

My checked suitcase was also damaged.

I submitted a formal complaint with all the details and supporting evidence, only to receive what felt like a generic response that failed to address the issues I raised. When I attempted to reply, I received an automated email telling me to submit an entirely new feedback form instead of allowing me to continue the conversation.

The most disappointing part isn’t that things went wrong—problems can happen with any airline. It’s that I felt completely dismissed throughout the entire process, both at Istanbul Airport and afterwards. I expected accountability, empathy and a genuine investigation. Instead, I was left with significant additional costs, unnecessary stress, and no meaningful resolution.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Turkish Airlines.
