I’ve been a client of Mario Tricoci…

I’ve been a client of Mario Tricoci since they only had their Oak Brook location, so I expected a much higher level of professionalism. I booked a makeup appointment for my son’s wedding day, only to have it canceled just two hours before the scheduled time. For such a large brand, I was shocked to learn they only have one makeup artist on staff, and there was no manager on-site when they canceled. Their policy states that clients must give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations ‘out of respect for our staff,’ with charges applied for late cancellations and no-shows. Yet, it’s clear they don’t extend the same respect to their clients. Extremely disappointed—this is not the quality of service I expected from Mario Tricoci, especially on such an important day.

It was bad but was fixed by someone else Tricoci worked with me

At first I liked it because my hair was such a mess. However as the evening went on I realized for what I paid I hated the cut and minimal color, I showed a picture of the hair cut I wanted which was layered with a bit of a curl I was given a straight Bob for almost $300 it was a complete rip off. My appointment was at 4:00pm then cut at 5:00pm the lady Blanca who cut my hair came highly recommended I think maybe it was because I was her last customer she was tired she barley even said hello. Horrible cut and color for what I paid. Honestly super cuts could have given me a flat Bob. I do not recommend the Crystal Lake salon I have to now go elsewhere to see if someone can fix it. One more thing I told them price was not a problem in the hopes they would create something lovely. I’m happy to say that Tricoci understood the problem then reimbursed my money. I spoke with Eduardo who was friendly and professional. Will I ever go back Probably it could be that it was late in the day and that there was mis communication. I have had my hair fixed it looks beautiful now

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON IN ANY OF THEIR…

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON IN ANY OF THEIR ILLINOIS LOCATIONS! I have been a customer of Mario Tricoci for the past 32 years, as have 3 other members of my family. I have spent thousands and thousands of $$$ there in 32 years for regular haircuts, color, pedicures, manicures and facials. Mostly at Oak Brook, but at times at Schaumburg. Last week I was on an airplane which was delayed and I missed a morning haircut that takes the tech 20 minutes. I was charged a $75 cancellation fee without telling me (I saw it pop up on my credit card). I disputed it with manager Gabrielle and she refused to refund or allow my next cut to occur without charge. I raised it to their corporate offices and they said NOPE! Sorry! (And the tech was NOT booked up that morning at all). Did I mention I have been a client of many services for 32 years? Did I mention I still went to the salon during1-1/2 years of COVID when they were desperately struggling, even when I really didn't require services and paid a $3 fee each time for "cleaning the salon?" I will miss my hair tech of 30 years and my colorist of 25 years but the prices are exhorbitant now and corporate greed has taken over management. This is really bad customer loyalty after 32 years of my patronage. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON IN ANY LOCATION or you will be overcharged, underserved, and secretly charged extra fees. Enough!

Wet Head Uneven Haircut: Not a fun drive home

3 Stars because there are some great stylists still there but the management has changed or style of running the salon has changed and with that change came a drop in quality and caring about the customer experience.
The last three times I have made appointments for haircuts I have come out almost in tears, having spent $$$ (way too much money) for what I could have done at home or had done at a chain salon.
The last straw was when after my last hair cut at Mario Tricoci (and I had asked during the making of the appointment - because you have to ask for them to dry your hair and style as it now NOT part of the cost of the cut for the stylist or anyone to blow dry your hair...) my stylist said that she was overbooked and could not "dry" my hair and literally smiled and thought she had done a fine haircut, and walked over to her next customer. I sat there stunned, and she saw that, and in response motioned for me to go and grab a hairdryer and dry my hair. That was it. I went up front paid over $60 left a tip because well, I just am a nice person (and it was not the stylist fault for messing up the appointment booking) for a very simple trim of my shoulder-length hair which was sopping wet, and got my coat and left. I will not be back. I came home and did dry my hair and found that it was unevenly cut in some areas, and took a pair of scissors and fixed it. The customers have become just people to fill chairs at the salon, not guests, not clients. The stylists have really little to no control over the mess which is created in a booking by phone or online. The receptionist or whoever just slots a customer in depending upon how much they want to spend on a hair cut or service. And quite frankly the last 3 times with 3 different supposedly "senior stylists" I was not impressed with their cookie-cutter work. I noticed the place was not really busy and the stylist could have figured something out to get my hair dried and styled so at a minimum I did not look ridiculous as if I just got out of the shower on my ride home. This place wants to be cutting edge in the Chicago area, and they were heading that way, and then something changed, and quality and a great customer experience went out the window. It is sad as this was once a go-to, you can count on coming out looking great salon, NOT anymore, those days are gone.
