When I asked for help with a claim, I got a quick email response. After submitting the claim, I received the approval within a day! After that I received a phone call explaining what to expect in terms of timing for reimbursement. I was very impressed with the whole process.

My wife and I have been frequent travelers, routinely skipping travel insurance. As we age, we thought we should add 3rd-party insurance for a cruise we planned 10 months in advance. We used one of the Trawick International companies rather than the cruise insurance offer. Unfortunately, my wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer, preventing us from taking the cruise together. Trawick's customer service was very helpful, explaining the claim process, providing a convenient online form for submitting proposer information about her health condition, and refunding our travel investment.

6/2026 - Had an expensive horse racing tour set up for Ireland from the US but got Covid four days before I was supposed to leave so had to cancel. Filed a claim online with Trawick. They asked for one form in a different format. Approved and paid in two weeks. Definitely using again.

VERY helpful when my tour was cancelled. Got a full refund! Then I booked new insurance for my follow up tour. Awesome and quick reply to ALL questions.

I could NOT properly type in my departure and return dates on your website. It would NOT work. I called your toll free number and a nice guy with an Indian or Pakistani accent just asked me for my travel dates, and he sent me a quote. Thank you to him, no thanks at all to your website. I enjoy having the security of an annual travel protection plan. This is my 3rd time getting insured by Trawick, and customer service is excellent whenever I had a question in the past. I have recommended Trawick to friends several times. My rating would be 5 stars if it were simply possible to seamlessly renew my existing policy each year. I tried but got the message that my plan was not renewable. I had to go through the same new client process all over again, and the website kept having an issue. The inability to renew makes me worry that a trip I already booked for October while my 8/1/25 to 8/1/26 policy was in place, may not be covered if I am unable to travel for any reason.

The person I dealt with was professional and friendly and had my policy completed quickly and efficiently.

I purchased a travel insurance policy for my elderly father because I wanted peace of mind in case a medical emergency occurred while he was traveling. Before purchasing the policy, I carefully reviewed the coverage and understood that pre-existing medical conditions could be covered if there was an acute onset during the trip.

Unfortunately, when my father experienced a sudden medical emergency, the claims process became extremely frustrating. We provided medical records, hospital documentation, and all requested information in good faith. When we reached the care facility , together with the care provider we called the insurer to ensure that the visit is insurable. But then they rejected with a reason that this is pre-condition due to an aging knee ( ofcourse all elderly people have aging knees). We appealed the denial as we strongly believe that the sudden swelling was due to an accident. After a lengthy review process, the claim was ultimately denied on the basis that the event did not qualify as an “acute onset of a pre-existing condition.” Because we went to the care facility on the 2ne day after the event occured.
My biggest disappointment is not simply that the claim was denied—it is that the policy language regarding “acute onset” was far less clear than it appeared when purchasing the insurance. As a consumer, I believed I was buying meaningful protection for exactly this type of unexpected medical situation. Instead, the insurer interpreted the policy so narrowly that the coverage I thought I had effectively did not exist.

For families purchasing travel insurance for elderly parents with stable pre-existing conditions, this distinction is critically important. I encourage everyone to carefully read the exclusions, ask for written clarification about what the insurer considers an “acute onset,” and not rely solely on the marketing description of the coverage.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this insurer. The claims process was stressful, communication was disappointing, and after paying for coverage specifically to protect against an unexpected medical emergency, the claim was denied based on an interpretation that was not obvious when the policy was purchased.

I hope the company improves the clarity of its policy language and better aligns customer expectations with how claims are actually evaluated. Travelers deserve to know exactly what is—and is not—covered before making such an important purchase.

Buying travel insurance was quick and easy. I called for clarification on a few choices. They answered the phone quickly and responded to all my questions. I would highly recommend. Fortunately, we did not have to file any claims.

I haven't had to use it yet. The 4 stars come from website effectiveness. I have purchased my policy, but I can't access, much less download, the documents. I waited a day and tried again, several times, still won't open. I called the 24/7 customer service number. She was nice, but ineffective. She told me to screenshot the webpage, email it to them, and they would get back to me in a few days. Hmmm, 24/7? Glad I purchased well before my trip to allow me time to sort this out.
