Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 83 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with unhelpful customer service representatives, long waiting times on the phone, and overwhelming difficulties when trying to resolve urgent booking issues. People also report unexpected extra fees added at the counter and face major hurdles when attempting to secure proper refunds or alter their travel reservations. Though some travelers faced significant challenges with their itineraries, a small group of reviewers were happy with smooth booking processes and successful trips. These visitors noted that certain hotel stays and flights proceeded entirely without any complications, successfully providing adequate information, transparent rates, and reliable experiences.

Read before you book

To keep it short and simple, I will advise that we had very similar experiences as others shared on this site. I can not see a point of using a company that will not assist, advocate or even necessarily offer the best deal (shop around).
They truly are just an advertise, collect and distribute funds business. Therefore, you are paying them for services rendered by the companies that use them to advertise. They are not for the consumer.
PS You would not see a review about them on their site because you must have a successful and completed trip to post a review on their site. I wish my husband saw this site before he booked. But he was trying to surprise me and rushed with excitement. I hope this saves someone else from making the same mistake (although I love him for it).

⭐ 0/5

⭐ 1/5 — TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ABSOLUTELY NO ACCOUNTABILITY

I have been a loyal Travelocity customer for years. I booked many of my trips through Travelocity and regularly recommended the company to friends and family. After this experience, I seriously regret trusting Travelocity with my travel arrangements.

My flight from Rio de Janeiro to San Francisco was canceled, creating an emergency situation where I needed help canceling my reservation and obtaining a refund.

I contacted Avianca, and Avianca told me that because I purchased the ticket through Travelocity, Travelocity needed to handle the refund. I then contacted Travelocity, only to be told that Avianca had “full control” of the ticket and that I needed to deal directly with the airline.

I was literally being sent back and forth between Travelocity and Avianca, with neither company taking responsibility.

The Travelocity supervisor contacted Avianca and was told that a refund could be requested. I explained repeatedly that I had ALREADY attempted to request the refund directly through Avianca and that my request had been denied because Avianca told me to contact Travelocity.

Instead of actually resolving the problem, Travelocity simply told me to contact Avianca again.

How many times is a customer supposed to call the same companies and explain the same situation?

To make matters worse, I purchased a FLEX fare, which I reasonably expected would provide additional flexibility in situations like this. Despite this, I was initially told my ticket was nonrefundable, then told a refund might be possible, then told there could be a cancellation fee, and finally sent back to Avianca again.

The information provided by Travelocity was inconsistent, confusing, and completely unhelpful.

I also had a hotel reservation in Rio de Janeiro that I could no longer use because of the travel disruption. When I asked Travelocity for help, I was told that the hotel had already refused to provide a refund because another agent had supposedly contacted the property. I had never even discussed canceling the hotel reservation before this conversation.

At no point did I feel that Travelocity was advocating for me as their customer.

Instead, I spent a significant amount of time explaining the same situation repeatedly, waiting while agents contacted the airline, and being passed between companies while my money remained at risk.

This experience demonstrates the biggest problem with booking through a third-party travel agency: when something goes wrong, Travelocity can simply blame the airline or hotel, while the airline tells the customer to contact Travelocity.

Meanwhile, the customer is left in the middle with no solution.

I paid Travelocity for these reservations. Travelocity accepted my money and acted as the travel agency responsible for facilitating these bookings. Yet when I experienced a serious travel disruption, Travelocity provided no meaningful assistance, no ownership of the problem, and no resolution.

The most frustrating part was being told that I had reached the “highest department available,” only to receive the same scripted responses and be told to call Avianca again—even after clearly explaining that Avianca had already sent me back to Travelocity.

This is unacceptable customer service.

I used to recommend Travelocity and book many of my trips through them. After seeing how little support Travelocity provides when a customer actually needs help, I will seriously reconsider ever booking through them again.

A travel company should prove its value when something goes wrong, not just when it is collecting a customer’s money.

Travelocity failed completely when I needed them most.

I strongly recommend that travelers think carefully before booking flights or hotels through Travelocity. Booking directly with airlines and hotels may save you from being trapped in the endless cycle of a travel agency blaming the vendor while the vendor sends you back to the travel agency.

Extremely disappointing experience. Hours of wasted time, contradictory information, no accountability, and absolutely no resolution.

Will NEVER use Travelocity again. Can't cancel final night of stay!

We booked a 3-night hotel stay through Travelocity. HUGE MISTAKE. We will NEVER use Travelocity again. We needed to cancel the 3rd night, and told the front desk that as we checked in. They said "no problem", but then said "Oh, you booked through Travelocity. You'll need to cancel through them". I tried to do that online, but got an error. So I called Travelocity and they got a similar error. They said "Just go ahead and check out a day early, and then call us back and we'll refund that final night". So we did that. But they then told us "It is not possible to refund that final night after we had already checked out, since it wasn't 24 hours ahead of time". WHAT ????? Had we booked through the hotel directly, the hotel said it would have been no problem. WE WILL NEVER USE TRAVELOCITY again. Canceling our account.

Almost impossible to actually speak…

Almost impossible to actually speak with a human customer service rep and when you finally do, their foreign accent is so heavy I could barely understand them. I spoke with more than one rep. In the end they could not solve my issue. I tried the virtual assistant but that was useless. Terrible experience over all. I'm booking directly with the hotel from now on and not using Travelocity any more.
Also, pricing supposedly included all taxes and fees. It did not! The hotel added on $10 per night for parking, even though the hotel was not even half full. Surprise!

Horrible customer service... absolute crap!!!

I wish I could give negative 5 stars for the crappy Travelocity customer service!!!!! I reserved two hotel room suites on travelocity.com for a week each, but the other party needed to shorten their stay by ONE day. The email confirmation said to call the hotel if you had any questions about the room so I called them... they couldn't change the date by ONE day and said I had to contact Travelocity. I tried changing the date by ONE day online since there's an option to change your reservation... but it wants you to basically cancel your room and select another one... except the room I already reserved isn't one of the options!! I want a suite with two bedrooms, not a room with two queen beds!! So I got a phone number for Travelocity and talked to an actual person... and she couldn't change the reservation by ONE day either!?!? Again, I could choose a different room for the "new" dates, which is just the exact same reservation I already have, but leaving ONE day earlier... but the two bedroom suite I already have reserved isn't one of the options!!??!! Why in the world can't they just change the checkout date to be ONE DAY earlier!?!? This is absolutely ridiculous and crappy customer service!!! I hope I can find another hotel and I'll cancel the ones I did thru Travelocity since I still have a couple days to get a full refund on them... unless they scam you out of that, too. I have used Travelocity many times in the past, but apparently I haven't needed to shorten a reservation by ONE day before. I will NEVER use Travelocity again for ANYTHING!!!! Good luck if you do and you need to change anything....

Never again...

I used to book with Travelocity frequently without issue. Apparently, in a recent website update, they switched my first and last name and when I made an airline reservation, my boarding pass reflected this mistake and I was unable to board my flight.

When I called them, everyone I spoke to spoke extremely broken English and we couldn't understand each other.

I'm done with Travelocity.

be carfull of Travelocity Bookings…

I booked lodging for a trip to Yellowstone through Travelocity. I selected a pay later option since I am old and have health issues. But, they took 100% of my res costs immediately ($2100.00), and then when I tried to cancel a week before the trip, they did not process the cancellation in time and said I have a no refund clause. The hotel did refund $1400.00 since they rebooked the room but I am still out $700.00. Here is travelocity response.

Great news! We’re following up regarding your request to refund your reservation.
Request type: Refund
Itinerary number: 73449284638018
We’ve waived the penalty, so you’re free to move forward with your request.
We have received a response from the property regarding your refund. They have processed a refund of $1348.48 back to your account.
Depending on your bank, you will see the refund credited to your original form of payment within 7 to 10 business days.
Please note that because this booking was a "pay later" reservation, the property collected your payment directly. For any further billing questions or detailed refund information, please contact the property directly, as they are best equipped to assist you.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,

Expedia Travel Team

i am confused. how did "pay later" mean that my credit card was hit immediately?
I am extremely upset with your business practices which had against my wishes, taken payment immediately vs what I agreed to as pay later meaning I would pay later when I arrived.
I will be posting this experience at every site I can find.

Do not trust Travelocity with your travel plans!!

I booked my airline travel in February 2026, using online services from Travelocity to travel from Vancouver, BC, Canada, to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

When I got to the airport on March 17, 2026, I noticed that my name had not been entered correctly, as I had provided it when I booked my travel.

There was no excuse for this because my name had been entered exactly the same as it is on my passport and also exactly the same as my name is on my Travelocity profile.

My name had been entered incorrectly in small-sized font under Travellers Details on the emailed confirmation, and I did not notice the mistake they had made.

As a result, Air Canada would not let me board my flight despite about 2 hrs of begging Travelocity to issue me a new flight confirmation with my name corrected, and they consistently refused to provide a corrected flight confirmation, even though there was enough time to do it. My ticket for that flight was also removed from being under airport control, so there was no excuse for Travelocity not to issue me a name correction on a new flight confirmation, so I missed that flight, as well as other connecting flights going to Africa and returning to Canada in May 2026.

I had to book new flights and received no help from Travelocity except for a $200 refund, which was issued after I tried to make new travel arrangements that failed due to technical issues that prevented completion of the payment.

Actually, the payment did go through in the end, but I cancelled before the end of the day because I did not want to get charged for those bookings because the Travelocity telephone agent was unable to confirm that the new bookings were approved and valid.

Good thing that I had noticed that I had till the end of the day to cancel, and the entire cost of the second attempted booking was refunded to my credit card account.

In any case, $200 is not nearly enough when my original booking had cost me $2314.27.

I'm still pursuing a refund or a flight credit for the first booking where I was denied boarding and completely lost the use of the booking for the entire itinerary.

My next step is to apply for help from the Canadian Transportation Agency to resolve this problem, if Travelocity will not give me a refund or a flight credit.

Travelocity has sent me politely worded replies to all of my emails, but so far has not accepted responsibility for their mistake regarding my name on the Flight Confirmation and has not told me what they will do to compensate me for my losses.

My last resort will be to take Travelocity to court and sue them for my financial loss of the value of my original itinerary, plus additional compensation for the great inconvenience that their mistake has caused me.

I have used Travelocity successfully many times in the past for travel to Mexico, but after this very expensive mistake on their part, I will not use them again and will rather deal directly with the airlines.

Lesson learned: Do not trust Travelocity with your travel plans!!

Do Not Use TRAVELOCITY unless you want a miserable experience.

The worst experience. i booked a trip to England for May 18 to May 29. Both the hotel and flight with Travelocity. The United flight was refundable. I called the day before our trip to ASK about the hotel cancellation policy. I found out the entire amount was NONREFUNDABLE. Before I could ask any questions, they cancelled my hotel , I called back immediately. On hold forever. They told me it could NOT be reinstated !!! Their ERROR I never authorized the CANCELLATION. So it took me from 1:00 am to 10:00 am the next morning to finally get this resolved. We had a driver picking us up at 11:00.

I talked to at least 10 people at Travelocity, all incompetent. The hotel asked me to deal with Travelocity only. It was a nightmare.

I'm still getting surveys. How does this company exist ? I will never use a company that bundles products. Go to the source, then there's recourse or at least decency.

Booked multiple tickets and hotels for…

Booked multiple tickets and hotels for an upcoming wedding. They booked half the tickets and put the rest on hold since per the rep the system had a glitch, Now the rest of the tickets are not booked, and they could really care less. Refused to put us on the flight with everyone else as the cost went up. There issue not mine the offer they came up with was flights 11 hours later missing the rehearsal dinner for MY daughter's wedding. Why did this happen because the tickets went up $55 per person while they waited to book even though my Credit Card has been billed. Delta has a confirmation number they confirmed this is 100% the fault of Travelocity, but Travelocity doesn't care they just want the money but wait even if I paid the difference, they cannot update it so it would be rebooked increasing the cost $1200.00. Supposedly they have escalated the issue. If they fix the issue I will update but they didn't seem like anything was going to change from the conversation.

Not the truth

We booked a hotel with Travelocity said all taxes and fees included after we got there. Thier was a resort fee, which represented probably 1/2 of what we’re paying. apparently in the fine print does say they can charge resort fees should not have all fees included that’s not the truth.

Lack of transparency in taxes and fees: A nightmare to get an itemized receipt to submit for expenses.

I generally like Travelocity. I have recently changed my mind and will use other travel companies in the future. I had to submit a receipt for airfare reimbursement at work. They would not reimburse without an itemized receipt of the taxes and fees because the receipt available online did not include that itemization. I should not have to spend three hours, one hour of which was in AI-voice prompt hell on the telephone to try to get a copy of that receipt. (Such inefficiency only makes for an angry customer for your customer service representative to deal with once they pick up the phone.) When I finally get through to a human and get placed on hold for several minutes, they sent me the exact same receipt I could find online. We had to get another receipt piece of information, and it was all in code. Taxes and fees should be transparent to the customer. I gave two stars instead of just one star because the customer service rep was kind enough to translate the codes for me, and I did not have to ask.

Stated you will not be charged, then charged upon booking

I reserved a hotel and took screen shots of each page of my reservation to document. When I was given the option to Choose Room, under the photo and description and option to Reserve, there was a statement that clearly said "You will not be charged yet". For any reasonable person, this implies you reserve and pay later upon check in/check out. However, I notice my card was charged, and the customer service rep and his supervisor Mary both state that that only mean you won't be charged until you book the reservation, which is a total of about one minute. They deceptively stated and lied about not being charged. Both customer service representatives were rude, overtalking me when I tried to explain and the supervisor Mary kept chastising me that I should know better because I have booked with Travelocity and it was 'not my first' time booking and there is nothing they could except create a case #. I even emailed them screenshots of my booking where it shows the statement that says you will not be charged yet. Mary said she does not have a corporate number or contact info and no one above her to escalate to and failed to even address the statement about not being charged until later, competed try to distract from this statement. Horrible customer service. After using Travelocity for many years, I will no longer be using them in the future and use another competitor from now on for my bookings. Be careful of the deceptive wording, especially if you want to pay upon check in . If I could I would give zero stars. I will complain to the Better Business Bureau as well.

Worst Customer Service EVER

Travelocity has HANDS DOWN the worst customer service in the history of online-booking. Had to contact them over 6 times and got completely different information EVERY single time. I worked in customer service before, so I have a lot of patience, however this experience was insane. From having included transportation from/to airport/hotel upon booking, to suggestions of booking a rental car and getting reimbursed, to having to call the hotel myself to schedule transportation (which you can’t do through the hotel) to booking our own transportation to get refunded a small amount to THEN getting an email a couple days before departure that transportation is included and why we havent reserved our spot yet…. i felt like in a very badly done movie. I will NEVER EVER book through Travelosity again, and honestly, if you do - good luck my friend, you will need the vacation afterwards for sure.

They are false advertisers

They are false advertisers. The pictures and descriptions they put on their website are false. Then when I complained to customer service, they pretty much said we'll thats on you for not choosing what we offer well. Their description said a remodeled room, the room we got was old and moldy. The said we got a "meet and greet, private sedan to and from the airport. We got a old beat up van used as a cab that showed up 2 hours late after we called 4 tomes and walked all over the hot airport. Then we called to ensure our rode to the airport would be coming and on time, they never showed!! We called them 4 times and eventually had to pay for an Uber so we wouldn't miss our flight.
