The Trafalgar St. James: A sanctuary of work, rest and play in the bustle of St. James SW1

Very poor service and no attention to customer service or hospitality knowledge or any friendliness toward customer
At the outset, my experience with Trafalgar Curio is the worst experience I had with any hotel. BTW, I am Diamond with Hilton, Titanium with Marriott, and Diamond with IHG.
Here is my case: I booked a hotel via the Hilton Diamond reservation center and said clearly that there would be two adults and one child for the stay. However, when I arrived, the front desk refused to check me in for the reason that the room I booked was only for two people. They asked me to pay extra money (like 100GBP which I didn't remember correctly) to upgrade to a suite, which I refused. I asked the people at the front desk to cancel the booking and they agreed. However, I later found that I was still CHARGED for the booking even though the front desk staff told me they had canceled the reservation. I emailed and called them many times, and they refused to acknowledge. I regret that I should have recorded our conversation. Those people are so dishonest! Stay clear or alert when dealing with them. Shame on you!
Had such an experience. Sadie the waitress. Was soo amazing. Kept a smile the whole time. Real asset to the business. She deserves a raise!
it is now two months since i visited the hotel. They have deducted DKK 700. in deposit and I'm still struggling to get them paid. They have written several times that I must have them back, but they will not be paid. Now I am struggling to get written documentation from them so that NETS can run a finished case against them. It's running. It is not ok that a deposit does not come back!
My expectation was a 5; however, the reality for me and my guests was a 2 (and this is only due to the food being excellent, otherwise it would have been a 1).
After just over an hour of being seated we were told the table was required back in 15mins. We had just finished our main and our bottle of champers. At no point during booking or when we were seated were we advised of the extremely short time limitation, otherwise I would have booked somewhere else.
Once we declined a second bottle of champagne (at £180) it felt like we were then dismissed and pressured to leave as early as possible. We did not get an opportunity to any cocktails or even a dessert. This was hugely embarrassing for myself and my guests (this was a celebration after not seeing my niece and nephew for some time due to the pandemic – both of whom had travelled from York to see me and have a special meal).
The waiter who pressured us to leave was curt and rude and I expect better from the Trafalgar St James.
I will not be returning; I can get great food at so many places in London (Claridge’s, The Ritz, The Connaught, Quaglino’s, The Ivy, The Wolseley etc). I expect great food and exceptional service. I am hugely disappointed the Trafalgar St James Rooftop staff chose to treat us in this way.
Fantastic location. Hotel smelt lovely as you walked in. We had a family room which was on the 1st floor with Trafalgar Square literally outside the window and yet you could almost hear a pin drop in the room it was SO quiet. The room was extremely generous in size too. Decor lovely. Dining room was very pretty and breakfast was excellent. We were booked for the rooftop bar but it was so windy it was closed so will have to try that another time.
Beautiful hotel that has completely refurbished. Lovely bedrooms, great restaurant, amazing rooftop space
