I bought a TomTom Go Superior 6" (with web bundle) on October 10th 2024, as a Christmas present for my husband. It is now November 4th 2025. I have received an email this morning stating that my device is now unsupported, and that I will not be able to update my maps. My husband is very disappointed that his nice present is now obsolete. For myself, I am a repeat customer but I will never buy a TomTom again. I will shop with one of their competitors, and I would advise others to do the same.

Appalling 'customer services' experience

One of the worst ‘customer services’ experiences I’ve had for a very long time! Absolutely appalling interaction, from start to finish.

Had an issue with renewing a service for a TomTom device that should have taken MINUTES to sort out (which would have left me delighted that I’d invested in another TomTom car satnav). However, this was drawn out over almost THREE WEEKS of painful backwards and forwards with an employee that appeared to have a poor grasp of just about everything – from English to basic arithmetic – and a complete inability to actually RESOLVE a simple issue (even if that meant being empowered to use an element of leeway or discretion).

This whole idiotic episode has left me with a VERY POOR opinion of how much TomTom actually cares about its customers. It’s cost me a considerably amount of time to get anywhere near the position I expected to be in at the start of the process and a loss of more than three weeks’ use of the service I was trying to renew. And, what has TomTom gained out of this? A saving of 50 pence and the expense of employing a staff member to reply to numerous emails over weeks and weeks. I’d call that an own goal.

TomTom will not accept they have a problem

TomTom customer service is rubbish. They pretend to be helpful but in actual fact their standard answer is do a system reset. When you answer them then they don't read your reply and ask you to repeat the same process.
Their camper sat navs have had a fault introduced during recent updates and they WILL NOT accept it. The fault is that the recommended speeds are set for a 7.5 ton HGV and do not adjust to suit your vehicle.
This fault was introduced either because of the trucking map they use or the last operating system update.

Impossible to update the product

Impossible to update the product. When the TomTom device is connected, the wireless gets disconnected. The device responds very slow. I have tried to limit a map to one country. It was not possible. The windows app is entirely useless crashes all the time.

Do not you think that it is…

Do not you think that it is inadmissible to not be able to update your GPS because it reaches 10 years of age and that it works perfectly, and TOMTOM offers me to buy another one (well, let's see) and we are told that there is too much pollution for the planet ... A nice gang of thugs, this is called programmed obsolescence that should be condemned, it is fine to play the environmentalists ....

Customer support does not really exist

Customer support does not really exist. No phone contact possible for sports devices and online support is laughable. Despite the fact you write a question they ask do you mean this? which is nothing to do with what you actually wrote.

useless products, non-existent support - do not buy from them, you will be very disappointed
