Security

Security, speed, comprehensiveness, clarity, pretty much everything you could ask for in an email app. Added to the speed of response by Perry and Customer Service, making this an extremely attractive choice.

Establishing a family domain with four…

Establishing a family domain with four users was a hassle-free process, as was transferring email from my prior server. The applications function efficiently, and features like group lists, temporary address masking, aliases, etc., are immensely beneficial. The price provides an extensive amount of storage. However, I would suggest that the user interface requires optimization in some areas, but these are minor issues that do not detract from the overall quality of the service. Consequently, I would still rate it five stars.

I signed up for Thexyz this summer and have been amazed at the breadth of clever features and refinement built into the product. Embarrassingly I've amassed nearly half a million emails across various accounts over the years, importing it all to Thexyz was a snap, but even more impressive has been the speed and pleasantness of the interface. Pairing Thexyz with the GroupList service means I'm finally getting my unruly inbox tamed. Yippee!

Privacy-respecting, supports WebAuth, solid mobile app

I was looking for an email service to migrate to from GMail. My main requirements were:

- based in a country with strong privacy laws
- supports custom domain
- 2FA using WebAuthn (including in the mobile app)

Thexyz was the only option I could find that satisfies these requirements. So I went for it, and so far I'm happy with it. Some power features like filters are a little hidden away, but they exist.

This is the worst experience I ever had…

This is the worst experience I ever had with setting up e-mail. Tried signing up for their so-called "premium" e-mail service. Payment seemed to go through but when I tried logging in my account was tagged as "pending." Tried their online chat system to try and determine what was going on. Had to wait for 20-30 minutes before someone finally answered. But Lucy could not help in any way apart from assuring me she would mark the matter a priority. She didn't seem too confident that would help since she also advised me to open a support ticket which I did. The next morning the issue was still not resolved. I decided there might have been a payment issue since when I entered credit card info my computer had auto-filled certain blanks which I had to correct (I have 2 credit cards and I suspected data from the 2 might have gotten mixed). I went into my account and entered correct details for the card I meant to use, making it the default card, thinking that might resolve the issue but it didn't. When I later tried to check whether they'd answered my support ticket I was greeted by a message that they had banned my IP! What?! I opened a new chat session to ask what the hell was going on with this but got no answer for the 40 minutes I waited before needing to leave. They finally sent me an e-mail "response" stating they've "become more picky" about who they allow to be their customers! Can you believe this?! What an outrage! And meantime they have details for 2 of my credit cards in their system. These people are dishonest crooks and no one should ever do business with them. I hope their company dies a slow and painful death. Imbecileiots. Avoid at all costs!

We do not tolerate spam or abuse on our platform."

Spam? I never got access to my account to send a single e-mail. What spam are you talking about? Abuse? You're the ones abusing, not me. Banning/blocking my IP and closing my account thus wasting the time and energy I put into trying to use your service, that constitutes abuse in my book. And insulting me by saying "We are getting pickier in the type of people we allow to be customers" (e-mail to me from your support staff on 4/12/22)

Terrific customer service

I've had my biz email through GoDaddy (as part of their web hosting service) for about ten years or so. They recently decided to end their webmail service, and pushed everybody to Office365, which of course is an additional charge. I've had it "up to here" with Microsoft so I decided to look for another webmail service. I did a bunch of searches and (oddly) I found Thexyz in a comment that somebody wrote in reviews of another service. He said that he'd been using their webmail for years, and found their customer service top notch. I sent an inquiry through their website, and got a reply pretty fast. I had a couple of rounds of follow up questions, all of which were answered quickly and professionally. After signing up, I had concerns about migrating my email away from GoDaddy/Office365, so asked for their assistance with the process. Perry (the head honcho, no less!) called me and helped me through the process from his end, and the migration was completed painlessly. When trying to set up my mobile phone to receive/sync I ran into issues, sent a note, and Ryan replied quickly, and pointed me to a page in their website about setting things up. Success! From initial inquiry to responding to requests for help, both Perry and Ryan were terrific. Major kudos to both of them, and so far so good with the webmail. Two thumbs up, and a hearty recommendation to Thexyz for anybody reading this.

Fastmail vs Gmail: no contest

I've had an account with Thexyz for years. And one thing I've come to learn about Google is you get what you pay for and many Google services are free. That usually leaves me free to get a LOT more spam and poor support if have a problem. But Thexyz is unobtrusive, full of features and a bargain for the small yearly price I pay for it.

Best Email/Calendar Service. Ever!

My aim is to be free of the big tech. And if I could de-google the phone I would. So, trying to find an email/calendering service has been a challenge. I tried Tutanota and Protonmail but without IMAP one has to rely on their software. Then I discover TheXYZ....awesome! I shall be keeping XYZ running indefinitely. I might distro-hop occasionally but I believe my email/calendaring life is sorted. Cheers TheXYZ.

Spam filtering is actually suburb!

I would just like to write a review about Thexyz spam filters. They are best I have come across when it comes to email. Another useful feature is the spam filtering is highly customizable.

I also found that in rare cases, it may mark a message as spam which can be easily resolved by following steps in a post that can be found by doing a quick google search.

I wonder if the previous reviewer (howard hance) tried that before having a public meltdown about something that actually works great ;-)

Keep up the excellent work and thank you for providing a great product!

Tags everything as spam

TheXYZ has written the most efficient spam filter in existence: simply tag everything as spam and let the customer sort it out. My whitelist now includes ebay, Amazon, PayPal, UPS, USPS, WA.Gov, Etsy and a host of other major players, because otherwise TheXYZ will send them to your spam folder. Legitimate email from some of the biggest businesses on the web, yet somehow they tag them as spam.
Complaining to support is futile, they don't seem to see anything wrong with forcing every, single, customer to whitelist every, single, business on the web.
Okay, it's not a bug - it's a feature! So I'm writing this review to let prospective customers know about this wonderful feature.

UPDATE: The responder is correct, TheXYZ does not "delete" mail incorrectly tagged as spam - they send it to your spam folder. I've updated the review appropriately.

They also did tell me how to use the whitelist - something I already knew. My problem is that I have to do so in the first place. I do not believe their expectations are reasonable.

They also told me that I had to manually parse the email header in order to determine whether the mail had been sent from a subdomain as their whitelist does not recognize subdomains. I do not believe that this is reasonable either.

FUNNY: When I first posted this review, I sent them a link. Their first action was to try to convince TrustPilot that I wasn't a user. Then they tried to claim that my review used insulting language.

If they find accurate descriptions of their service insulting, they might try fixing their bugs instead of suppressing reviews.
