I was misled into booking through a third-party site (HotelValues/TravelPass Group) that mimicked this hotel’s official website. I thought I was booking directly with the Plaza Hotel, but after submitting payment, surprise service fees were added and a non-refundable policy was disclosed only after checkout.
I never checked in, never used the reservation, and was out of the country at the time. When I contacted them, I was told no refund could be issued.
Hotels should not allow third parties to impersonate them like this — it’s deceptive and harmful to consumers. Be VERY careful when booking — confirm you’re on the hotel’s official website before paying
