Sulky barber

Encouraged by largely good reviews, I booked a cut at The Gentlemen's Lounge. My experience was disappointing. After a short wait, Oli, my barber, appeared. He made no eye contact. His greeting, if indeed it came, was decidedly muted. A very poor first impression. It did not bode well. Throughout the appointment he presented as a very sulky young man and as such an individual with whom I would not have chosen to spend my valuable time. I have never before spent 30 minutes in a barber's chair in stony silence. A little polite conversation is usual, whilst silence, I consider to be rude. Yes, it was rude. Struck by this but prepared, perhaps, to help him along, I made several attempts to break the silence. He, however, remained stubbornly reticent.

The cut was fine, though, I found it's execution laboured to the point of exaggeration. It might have been completed just as well in a shorter time. In the company in which I had found myself, that would have been more agreeable.

I'd paid and left, but it was now I found I'd been overcharged. My dissatisfaction was compounded then by the several exchanges it took between myself, the shop and the barber to retrieve the paltry sum.

Reviews suggest The Gentlemen's Lounge satisfies most. It was my misfortune, it seems, to stumble upon the warts.
