This was my first time visiting and whilst I want to give credit where it is due because the final result of my eyebrows are nice the overall experience with Kelara was very disappointing.
I was in her shop waiting to be seen and I was seen about ten minutes later than my appointment time because she was finishing up with another client. There was no apology, no acknowledgment or even a simple communication to let me know she’ll take a little longer because she’s finishing up with that other client. From the very start Kelara was rude and unprofessional.
Throughout the service she kept making unnecessary comments about my eyebrow hair being coarse which made me uncomfortable. She was also eating during the appointment and whilst I have no issue with someone needing to eat, doing so in the middle of a clients service is not acceptable in any professional setting. She even left the shop in the middle of the treatment which I wouldn’t have minded but she did so without saying a word to me, she only told the other technician she was stepping out as if I was not even there, a clear lack of basic professionalism.
At one point she asked me how thick or thin I wanted my brows and I asked my mum for advice. She then spoke to me in a condescending and belittling tone saying “How old are you”, “You are a grown woman, you don’t need to ask your mum anything”. I found Kelara’s comments completely inappropriate and uncalled for especially from someone I had just met and I was trusting and paying for a professional service. It was my first time there and I was shocked at how dismissive and judgmental Kelara was.
I am not sure why Kelara was in such a bad mood but it was not fair for her to direct that energy towards me. Even though my brows turned out nice, her customer service, her attitude and the overall experience was a complete let down and not acceptable.
Unfortunately I do not feel comfortable returning. The service provider should make the client feel comfortable first especially when it is their first time visiting and that was not my experience. The customer should not be the one having to try to make the service provider feel comfortable. Based on how I was treated, I would not recommend coming here. In my opinion, the way Kelara interacted with me reflected a lack of consistent respect she has towards all clients. The attitude and treatment I received made it feel as though the level of professionalism, respect and kindness you get depends on Kelara’s mood, which is not something anyone should ever have to worry about when booking a service.
