As a repeat customer of Blueground (previously in London), I had a very disappointing experience with Blueground in Madrid.
Blueground terminated my tenancy before the agreed end of my contract as they decided to close their business here. Following the termination, they acknowledged that they owe me both my security deposit and a refund of prepaid rent.
My contract states that the security deposit should be returned within 30 days of vacating the property. That deadline has now passed, and despite multiple follow-ups, I have still not received either payment.
Instead, I received an email explaining that Blueground is "winding down operations in Spain" and therefore needs additional time before they can process refunds. While I understand businesses can face operational challenges, customers should not be financing those challenges by having their money withheld beyond the contractual deadline.
Before booking, I would strongly encourage prospective tenants to consider the potential risks if your tenancy ends or is terminated early. If you're required to pay a substantial security deposit or rent in advance, be aware that recovering those funds may not be straightforward.
I sincerely hope Blueground resolves this matter promptly, but until they honour their contractual obligations and return the money they acknowledge they owe, I cannot recommend them and will take further as necessary.

I am the owner of apartment number İST-1256. Two months' rent remains unpaid. You sold the furnishings to the current tenant; please deduct the security deposit and send the remaining 92,000 Turkish Liras.

If I could give zero stars, I would.
The apartment itself is not the reason for this review. The real problem begins after you move out, when Blueground is supposed to return your security deposit.
I checked out the apartment in Madrid (Reference MAD-3261) on May 31, 2026. The contract clearly states that the security deposit must be returned within 30 days. That deadline has come and gone, and I am still waiting for my money.
What is even more frustrating is the complete lack of customer support. I have sent multiple emails, contacted them repeatedly through the app, and patiently waited for updates. Instead of receiving a solution, I have been ignored or given vague responses that lead nowhere.
It is astonishing that a company capable of charging rent and collecting deposits so efficiently becomes virtually impossible to reach when it is time to return money that belongs to its customers.
This is not about a delay of a day or two. This is about a company failing to honor its own contract while keeping a customer’s funds without providing any clear explanation or resolution.
At this point, I have lost all confidence in Blueground. A company should be judged not by how it treats customers while collecting payments, but by how it behaves when it owes your money back.
Since my repeated attempts to resolve this matter directly have been ignored, I am now escalating the issue through the appropriate consumer protection authorities and will continue pursuing every available legal avenue until my deposit is returned.
If you are considering renting with Blueground, ask yourself one question: Are you comfortable trusting a company that may become unreachable when it’s time to return your money?
They are winding up their operations in London right now but still advertising their business there.
As you can see in other one-star reviews, they have been behind on refunding deposits or other amounts payable.
I have not received any promised payments to date.
I have rented through Blueground in Portugal for over a year and a half. Last May they decided to leave the country leaving renters like us having to find last minute a place to live. This has been a very stressful transition for us and our family. But worse, after more than 30 days they haven’t returned the deposit despite my numerous follow ups. It is becoming quite serious wondering if the company has financial problems…
We were in need of several accessories to make our stay more comfortable, and all arrived the next day.

Since arriving a few days ago, we couldn’t be more pleased. The check-in process was seamless, clearly instructed, and incredibly accommodating.
The entire building and the surrounding neighborhood are exactly what we were looking for—a space that feels quiet and intentional, with great amenities, easy access to public transportation, and wonderful local mini-parks. It’s been a truly beautiful experience so far.

I had a bleuground flat in Athens.
The bathroom stinked like hell, the kitchen was leaking water, the dinner table was broken when I arrived, and now they want to charge me 800 euros for a cheap quality table !
They are proper scammers, avoid at all costs !
Blueground offers beautiful apartments, and we chose to stay in one in Lisbon, Portugal. Overall, everything went smooth, and we really liked our apartment of 3 months. We feel like the prices were a bit too high for the value, but we understand it's for having everything sorted for us. We found the communication to be a bit too minimal—we struggled a lot with our initial check-in due to unable to locate the correct key lockpad as there was not enough info on which one holds our keys. Once we reached out to customer services, they've been always helpful, just wish we didn't have to take this extra step ourselves given how much we paid for our stay.

I stayed with Blueground in Istanbul twice, for a total of almost two years, and my experience has been extremely disappointing.
During my first stay, the apartment had a leaking roof. Despite repeatedly reporting the issue, it took over four months, and Blueground still never fixed it. In the end, I had to contact the landlord directly to get it resolved.
My second booking has been far worse. After Blueground exited the Istanbul market, they failed to return my refund. I have a one-year-old baby, and despite contacting their Istanbul, Athens, and U.S. support teams multiple times, I have received little to no meaningful response. Through the app, I only received generic messages saying they “understand the inconvenience,” but no actual solution.
Blueground explicitly informed me that my refund would be processed by June 28. Based on that assurance, I promised my landlord that they would receive payment by June 30. When the refund never arrived, my landlord asked me to leave the apartment. As a result, I was forced to move all of my belongings and am now paying for a hotel entirely out of my own pocket while caring for my child.
To make matters worse, they continue to ignore my emails and have now told me they will not even have another update until August 10. Despite repeatedly explaining that I have a young child and urgently need my money, they have shown no sense of responsibility or urgency.
My experience has been incredibly stressful and financially damaging. I strongly encourage anyone considering Blueground to think carefully before booking. Based on my experience, the lack of communication, broken promises, and failure to return funds when promised make this a company I cannot recommend
Edit: I have sent you an email containing my booking ID, along with copies of the unanswered emails and support messages as attachments for your review.
I would also like to clarify that my claim is not regarding my security deposit. I am seeking a refund for the unused rent that remains unpaid following the early termination of my booking. Blueground continues to send automated responses referring to the security deposit, which is unrelated to my request. Please review my case accordingly.
As referenced in my emails, Blueground’s contract states that any unused rent and any overpaid charges or other outstanding amounts owed to the resident will be refunded following the required reconciliation. Despite repeatedly referring to these contractual terms, I have not received a substantive response addressing my request.
Edit 2: It has now been 4 days since Blueground publicly responded to my review, asking me to email them with additional details. I did so immediately, providing all the requested information. Since then, they have once again gone silent. I have received no meaningful response, no update, and no refund.
As a direct result of Blueground’s failure to resolve this matter in a timely manner, I was forced to spend more than €3,500 on emergency relocation costs, including hotel accommodation, moving expenses, and booking fees for a new place to live. These are costs I would not have incurred had Blueground fulfilled its contractual obligations and handled this situation responsibly.
Their public response gave the impression that they wanted to resolve the issue, but my experience has been the opposite. I am still waiting for the refund I am owed, and the lack of communication continues despite my repeated attempts to resolve this matter privately

The apartment is great and equiped with all the basics. There was even a welcome package with coffee and cleaning products.
The only low side is that there are no blackout curtains, thus sleeping is tricky.

My 2 years stay with blueground in Basel was really great, the appartment was very good, did not have major problems. And the customer service Team is really an excellent one. They were always providing solutions every time I had a problem. They always listening and have a very good way of communicating. Honestly If I had to rate them, I will give a 10/10

Disastrous experience! The company has no respect for clients, clearly makes false advertisements, and tries to avoid all responsability for its own blunders. They were responsible for the worst customer experience in my life. Dirty apartments, breach of contract, and horrible staff. And they still owe me money
BEWARE Tel Aviv. NO RETURN OF DEPOSIT. I stayed for three months at a Blueground Tel Aviv apartment. The contract says they will return my (very large) deposit within 30 days. It is now almost 60 days, and despite contacting them numerous times (and getting a few delay tactic replies) and sending my bank details four times, they have not returned my deposit. These are franchises so I am now taking it to the New York Blueground franchise operator. If I do not get help there, I will report back here.

The move in process was pretty easy. Got all of the information to make it a seamless process prior to arrival. Also, any questions I had, the staff at the lobby were more than accommodating. Also had a little package that helped me survive the first night without having to go to the store. A well deserved 5 stars.

I stayed at an apartment in Athens for 10 months. The apartment was decent, though in way worse condition than the ad pictures showed: air-conditioning units held together by duct tape, broken toilets, seriously scuffed surfaces. As such, you end up not reporting every little scuff mark you see at move in, given how sub-par everything is. BUT, blueground will look for little scuff marks at moveout and will try to squeeze as much as they can of your security deposit. After move out, blueground sent me a list of imaginary damages and absurd charges. They attached pictures that don't actually show any damage, or show some minor little mark (which was probably there to begin with) for which they claims 100s of euros in damages. I had read on multiple online reviews about their predatory practices, and sadly, this has been my experience as well. It has soured my whole experience, and I do not recommend them for this reason alone.
I committed to a multi-year lease with Blueground because I was relocating to Portugal and needed long-term stability. That lease also formed a significant part of my visa application, so I relied on Blueground honouring the agreement I had signed. Just three months into the lease, I was informed that Blueground would no longer honour it. This decision had a direct impact on my visa arrangements and created unnecessary stress during what was already a significant international move.
What makes this even more concerning is the explanation I was given. I was told that Blueground was leaving the Portuguese market and, as a result, could no longer honour my lease. However, I continue to receive marketing emails advertising “new properties” in Portugal, and Blueground’s website still actively promotes apartments across the region. That inconsistency raises serious questions about the explanation I was given for terminating my agreement.
Given those circumstances, I expected Blueground to do everything possible to make the transition as smooth as possible. Instead, the opposite happened.
Despite there being no damage to the property, no outstanding utility bills, no deductions to make, and nothing further required from my side, Blueground has still failed to return my deposit and cleaning fee. What should have been a simple bank transfer has now taken over a month, despite repeated promises and deadlines. That timeframe has now been breached and I have still not received my deposit
Throughout this process, I have had to continually chase for updates, only to be told that the matter was being “followed up internally.” There has been no meaningful communication, no accountability, and no evidence that any urgency has been applied to resolving an issue that should have been straightforward from the outset.
I want to be clear that the customer support representatives I dealt with were polite and professional. My criticism is directed at Blueground’s internal processes and management, not the individuals tasked with communicating on the company’s behalf.
For a company that markets itself on making international relocation easy, my experience has been the complete opposite. Breaking a long-term lease that played a key role in my relocation and visa application, providing an explanation that appears inconsistent with its continued operations in Portugal, and then failing to return money that is rightfully owed demonstrates a complete lack of care and consideration for its customers.
I would strongly advise anyone considering Blueground, particularly if you’re relocating internationally or relying on them for long-term accommodation, to think carefully before committing.
I have never left a review before. For the benefit of anyone considering engaging with Blueground, I am compelled to do so now. This has been the worst treatment I’ve ever experienced at the hands of a company.
The facts are simple and not in dispute. I paid Blueground in full (thousands of dollars) for a reservation for my daughter to spend almost two months in NYC. After paying in full, Blueground offered me a cancellation right (which I never even asked for), for reasons that aren’t relevant. After accepting the right to cancel, the company initially told me a refund was being processed. They subsequently reneged and told me I was only entitled to a small partial refund, which is egregious given that the cancellation offer for a full refund was made crystal clear. Blueground’s next step was acknowledging that I was in fact promised a full refund, but they would not commit to giving me one as it had to be “escalated”. A full three weeks after cancelling the reservation Blueground still will not confirm that they will stand by their promise of a full refund. And so I am left with no option but to wait and hope this company does the right thing or initiate legal action. What great options.
What a callous way to treat people. Please, please be very careful when dealing with this company.
