SCAM

The company was paid for my plant order the day it was placed. 30 days later I have received nothing. The tracking number they sent me 21 days after my order was placed said my product was delivered to CA ONE MONTH BEFORE IT WAS ORDERED. When I requested my money back they said a cancellation fee of 15% was required. FOR RECEIVING NOTHING. I don't think so. Is this even a real company?

We're sorry to hear you were frustrated. As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we are a real nursery and take great pride in serving our customers.

If your order contained trees or shrubs, those are seasonal items and do not ship until November, as clearly stated on our website. The tracking issue you described also sounds like a carrier reusing a tracking number before updating it with your shipment's information, which can occasionally happen.

Our cancellation policy is clearly disclosed before checkout because many orders begin processing immediately after they are placed.

We're sorry your experience did not meet your expectations.

I am very disappointed with my experience with TN Nursery.

I am very disappointed with my experience with TN Nursery.

I ordered a specific plant variety and received a dormant bare-root plant, which arrived as little more than roots and a stick. After planting it, caring for it, and waiting over a year for it to mature and bloom, I discovered that it was not the plant I ordered.

When I contacted customer service, they denied my claim because it was outside their reporting window. What I found especially frustrating is that TN Nursery acknowledged that dormant bare-root plants cannot be identified upon arrival, yet still refused to offer any resolution because the issue was not reported before their deadline.

As a customer, I don't see how it is possible to verify that a dormant bare-root plant is the correct variety within a short claim period when the plant must first grow and bloom before it can be accurately identified.

I escalated the matter and explained that I reported the issue as soon as it became apparent, but the claim was still denied.

Potential customers should be aware that if a dormant plant is mislabeled, you may not discover the problem until long after the claim period has expired, at which point TN Nursery may decline to help.

I invested significant time, effort, garden space, and care into growing this plant, only to find out I did not receive what I ordered. Unfortunately, I was left without a satisfactory resolution.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

Bare-root plants are shipped dormant, and many varieties cannot be identified by appearance until they have fully matured and bloomed. As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we work hard to accurately label every plant we ship and do not knowingly send incorrect varieties.

Every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee, which covers the condition of the plant upon arrival. We also include a QR code with every shipment explaining how to identify whether a dormant plant is alive and providing planting instructions.

While we understand your frustration, we must apply our published policies consistently to all customers. We're sorry we couldn't provide the resolution you were hoping for.

plants did not survive

Ordering and delivery communication was great. I ordered the 25 pkg of Christmas Ferns. Soaked them and planted them. It has been over a month and not one is showing signs of life. Very Disapppointed

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed. Christmas Ferns are dormant bare-root woodland ferns that commonly spend their first season establishing underground before producing noticeable top growth. In many cases, they will not produce new fronds until the following spring.

After only one month, it is far too early to determine that dormant Christmas Ferns have failed.

As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we do not ship dead plants, and every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee.

After having to go through the BBB to get replacement plants, these new ones sent were great. No issues.
Overall, though, quality tends to be mid and I will be shopping elsewhere from now on. Too much of a gamble working with this company.

They very slow to ship

They very slow to ship. The raspberries bushes had the leaves removed but leaf stems remained. Which killed the bushes and they were dead within a week. They would make right even thought they cause them to die. If the had been shipped on time before they came out of dormancy them would have survived. This a very dishonest seller do purchase from them.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

Removing the leaves from dormant bare-root raspberry plants before shipping does not kill them. In fact, it is a standard horticultural practice that helps reduce moisture loss and transplant stress during shipping. The remaining leaf stems naturally dry and fall away as the plant establishes.

As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we do not ship dead plants, and every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee. Once plants are in the ground, many factors outside of our control—including weather, soil conditions, watering, planting depth, and transplant shock—can affect their establishment.

We're sorry your experience did not meet your expectations.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Shipping expense was outrageous. Plant material sent was significantly less material than advertised. Order processing time too long. I’ve not been this dissatisfied with an online purchase in a very long time.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed.

As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we work hard to provide quality bare-root plants at grower-direct prices. Because our plants are shipped bare-root rather than in pots, they naturally contain less material than container-grown plants but establish very well once planted.

Shipping charges are calculated based on the carrier's rates, package size, weight, and destination—we do not inflate shipping costs. During our busy season, processing times can also be longer due to high demand.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry your experience did not meet your expectations.

If I could give zero stars, I would.

If I could give zero stars, i.woupd. I got a ziplock bag that looked like trash .after reaching out to the vendor, I was told that the plants in the picture I sent "look good" and that if I planted them, they should be growing NEXT YEAR. Nowhere on the product page where I made my purchase did it say they would take another full year to grow.

We're sorry you were disappointed. As a family-owned nursery since 1959, our plants are shipped bare-root, not in pots, so they are packaged to protect the roots during transit rather than for appearance.

Many bare-root perennials naturally spend their first season establishing their root systems and, depending on the species, may not produce noticeable top growth until the following spring. This is normal for many native perennials and does not mean the plants are dead.

As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we do not ship dead plants, and every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee.

I ordered bare root ferns

I ordered bare root ferns, they seemed healthy, it's harder to tell the health of a root from a whole plant so I have to wait for them to come up to say for sure. Some species had both big and small roots- those ones I got way more than I paid for so that was nice. Everything was well packaged and the price is the cheapest i could find on the internet. The only thing I had a problem with was delivery time. I called customer service when i made my order and they gave me 10% off which was nice, but I couldn't get any other information about delivery time. I took vacation so I could have time to plant my ferns but I couldn't schedule a delivery date. Ferns wound up going to the post office and I had to leave work early after my vacation was over to pick them up. Then they had to sit a few days until I had time after work to plant them. So my one complaint is that I needed more control and better communication with my delivery time.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're so glad to hear your bare-root ferns arrived healthy, well packaged, and that you found our prices to be among the best available. We also appreciate you mentioning that some of the roots exceeded your expectations.

We understand your frustration regarding the delivery timing. During our busy season, we aren't able to schedule specific delivery dates because orders are processed in the order they're received and shipping depends on plant readiness and carrier schedules. Your feedback is appreciated, and we'll continue looking for ways to improve communication throughout the shipping process.

Thank you again for your support, and we hope your ferns thrive for many years to come!

I bought 25 cuttings of Virginia creeper

I bought 25 cuttings of Virginia creeper, which anyone who knows is virtually indestructible. I have actually poured gasoline, bleach and Roundup on Virginia creeper roots and they seemed to be nutrients for it and created s super strain... Anyway I purchased 25 cuttings for my new house and I planted them within 2 days of them arriving. Not a SINGLE cutting survived.

When the cuttings arrived they were already dry and were snapping instead of bending so I knew it wasn't looking good from the moment they arrived. I wanted so bad to be able to leave a good review because the person I talked to about a delay in shipping was courteous with my questions. A complete waste of $50+.

Edit 7/4/26 the reply they just sent was like a slap in the face. Insinuating that I don't know what a dead cutting looks like versus a live cutting. By the way the 25 cuttings that I put into the ground 4 months ago are still in the ground and they're still dead sticks. Yeah, your alive guarantee is real useful when it's only valid for the day your plants get to you dead BUT you have to wait to see if they're really dead or not by planting and praying. Then obviously the guarantee is no good anymore Frens, avoid this place like the plague.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed. Virginia Creeper is indeed a very hardy plant, but bare-root cuttings naturally become firm and woody while dormant. That alone does not indicate they are dead.

Many dormant cuttings can take time to establish before producing new growth. As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we do not ship dead plants, and every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee.

$150 gone

$150 gone. I've planted bare root successfully. I followed instructions. No luck. "Your case does not fit our waranty." What does that mean? Why not? So you can ship people anything in any condition and then tell them their case "does not meet warranty"?

Also, I ordered American beech and these look nothing like the other American beeches I have. These are European.

As a family-owned nursery since 1959, we do not ship dead trees, and every order is covered by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee. Every shipment also includes a QR code explaining how to perform a simple scratch test to determine whether a dormant tree is alive upon arrival.

We also respectfully disagree with the statement that we can "ship people anything." We work hard to accurately identify every tree we grow and ship. If you believe you received a different species, please email me at help@tnnursery.net with clear photos of the leaves, bark, and overall tree. I'd be happy to personally review them.
