Not as good as Cairn Lodge

I stopped southbound Monday, northbound today, Thursday.
Southbound was good, but at 3pm the fish looked like it had been sat out for some time, tasty though and the farm shop visit was worthwhile, that would deserve 4 stars. I feel let down today though, my cottage pie was not very hot, the service slow from someone who didn't look like they wanted to be there, just not the service I expect from a place that has such a good reputation. I usually stop at Cairn Lodge another Farm shop services. I think I'll be going there next time.

What the hell have you done !!!!!!

We travel from Lancaster regularly for a Sunday roast and as the place has just been refurbished we were looking forward to seeing the improvements. However the food was shocking, cold veg, tough beef no gravy and really disappointing.

Flies on uncovered food …

We stopped Northbound this Thursday eve. Staff lovely but I’m afraid the food in the restaurant was left on an open table in the middle of the restaurant. Food included bread rolls, pastries etc. The food was covered in flies no attempt had been made to cover the food. Also the cakes in the shop were also uncovered.

Completely shocked and will not be returning to ever eat North or Southbound.

We have visited on many occasions with our dog. It was great that there was an area that we could sit inside and have a meal. That was until the new policy. Foyer only. Outside seating like an afterthought. What about when it's raining and cold? No thank you. You've lost our business and recommendation for dog friendly stop.

Paradise on the M6

We have four lots of freinds in Edinburgh Glasgow and often travel there at least 4x A year. Always stopping at T Bay service's both north and south. North, being best as we love feeding the duck's with proper duck food. The pies 🥧 there are Fabulous the dining 🍽 is incredible and staff are really helpful and inspiring. The farm shop is that good we now have fridge in the boot of the car 🚗. But I'm a whiskey drinker and love the whiskeys T Bay sell I've now over the last year been collecting the odd bottle between £48.and £72 and can say I'm vary imprest the james ladies range is smooth and with lots of flavour..the meat/ pastries ar remarkable 😀 hooray for T-bay service on the M6 North.

After very many years Tebay have lost my custom.

Been dropping into Tebay very regularly for the last 15 years but over those 15 years there's been ups and downs in quality of food and produce but never a dip in customer service. It was a destination for us, not just passing through the services. However that has changed since yesterday. The dog friendly side of the restaurant which was very necessary for a lot of people had now been deemed dog unfriendly! Small A4 notice on the entrance and a printed line on the floor to warn people No Dogs!!! Allegedly after only one anti social incident when Inspectors were in. Staff are appalled! It's just not good enough to put up a tent and outside tables and still call yourself dog friendly. And the food just isn't good enough or worth the trip anymore. We used to visit as a destination and spend at least £80-100 each visit (usually 4 trips a month) on meat and veg and eating lunch but I think this was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Stopped briefly Southbound

Stopped briefly Southbound. Used to love Tebay -have been going for years and usually buy things in the shop but it’s going downhill. £8 for slice of carrot cake and a regular cappuccino. Coffee was burnt and bitter and less than half the cup filled. Extremely busy, as always, but I think now not worth the effort. I will be stopping elsewhere.

Unpleasant experience

Tebay Southbound has the builders in, so when I stopped recently, the servery area was extremely cold (open to the cold air behind temporary hoardings). I ordered a bacon roll which was served on a cold plate, in a cold (possibly chilled) roll, and then there was a queue to pay (only one till operating with a huge queue, with several other staff standing about) so by the time I sat down to eat it, it was entirely cold, and not very nice. I emailed Tebay about this experience, and have not had so much as an acknowledgment. They make a great fuss about the quality of the food they serve, but I’d have been better off pushing on to the Burger King at Killington Lake. Always sad to see a previously great business going downhill.

Very expensive breakfast not worth it.

Very expensive breakfast. One tiny piece of toast with full breakfast. The food was cold and the restaurant was cold. I wouldn’t stop there again. Felt ripped off. The staff in the restaurant were very nice though. Went into the shop which was empty and I felt like I was being followed around in case I pinched something so I walked out. Could not be bothered to shop as made to feel uncomfortable.

Truly stunned at the inflated prices

Stopped at the Southbound services, shocked at the ridiculous prices. £5.35 for a sausage roll. Two takeaway teas, a small orange juice and a small pack of sandwiches was £17.75.

Everything else in their shop is like a sketch from the 'I saw you coming' shop with Harry Enfield.

You're having a laugh Tebay Services aren't you? Ha ha ha! Very funny.

As a company you have just destroyed your reputation by ridiculing and insulting the British public with your stupid pricing structure. Even your staff think your recent price hike is crazy. Through your greed you will end up destroying yourself. I'll never buy anything again from your services, including the Northbound.

These Services have gone downhill fast ......

What has happened to this business?
I used to stop here for food and drink every time I travelled betweeen Scotland and England, and was always happy with everything.
This last time I visited (after an interval of around 9 months) everything had changed. Long queues, not enough staff, and the food was absolutely awful. I purchased a chicken, bacon and mayonnaise sandwich which I started to eat straight away in my car in the car park. It was truly the worst sandwich I have ever tasted - bits of mashed up chicken in mayonnaise spread thinly on the bread, hardly covering it in places, with some very very tiny bits of bacon! And the bread was soggy in places where the mayo had seeped through. Unbelievably nasty - it went straight in the bin. I had also bought some soup which was tasteless, and this was also disposed of. A few days later I logged into their website and sent a message regarding this experience but they never bothered to acknowledge or reply. Never again will I visit this place.

Where’s the passion gone

Hi guys, what has happened to your passion?
Always used to stop at your Service station
I watched your TV programme how difficult it was for people to get their products on your shelf
I think you need to apply that Ethos to yourselves
Your Toilets smelt disgusting they were dirty
Your Sunday roast soggy Yorkshire puddings, aunt Bessie‘s roast potatoes taste awful, overcooked and cold lamb.
How can you let standards slip this low after you had it right for so many years?

Takeaway coffees

Dreadful weak coffees that were poured out. Complete waste of money. They were completely tasteless. Girl behind the counter was very busy and harrassed looking and obviously wasn’t preparing properly made coffees. Really dissatisfied and disappointed.

Excellent service station

I am really surprised at all these negative reviews about Tebay south.
I have stopped here for years and have always found it excellent!
The shop is amazing with lovely gifts food and other goods.
The restaurant is also good with a great choice of menu and food which includes takeaway as well as eat-in.
The staff are also extremely polite and helpful - I point out two individuals that are amazing snd a credit to Tebay, they are a Ukrainian lady who never stops cleaning the tables as well as the floor !!
And the other is a Polish lady who is also extremely hard working.
So please instead of judging the reviews, try it for yourself.
Merry Christmas to alll the staff st Tebay south.

Disgusting food

Thought we’d try their “Westmorland breakfast”.Absolutely disgusting. Not even a full rasher of bacon, just the eye.Cold, overcooked mushrooms, overcooked sausage, toast that was probably cooked over a matchstick for 10 seconds, and to top it all,she plated up,realised she was a fried egg short,so had to order one from the “chef”.So our breakfasts were going cold while waiting. Took a couple of bites, took them back and got a refund off the manager who seemed so relaxed about it,like he did it many times a day.We will NEVER go there again, and it seems by reading some more reviews they aren’t even bothered about being so bad. They should have their license revoked.

Best avoided - In My Opinion

Really surprised at the reputation this place seems to get. In my opinion it's vastly over-priced below average produce, fresh or shelf stocked food. The clothing sections are also vastly overpriced or not always great quality. The staff are either utterly clueless, downright rude, or both. I make a London to Glasgow & return journey on average once a month. I make certain I avoid this place now every journey. An absolute blatant rip-off with elitist ideas way above its station.

Awful food and worse service

Just visited the northbound services.
Awful food and worse service, considering they charge restaurant prices!
Waited for food to be cooked, was told to pay and come back. Did this and was ignored by the server. When we did get served we only got one meal, was told the other would be 3 mins. Ok. Waited 10 mins, still being ignored, asked again and was told to take one and they’d come to get us. Went back after a further 10 mins and was told we’d need to wait a further 10 mins. At this point we asked for a refund and was met by possibly the rudest team leader I’ve ever encountered, no wonder the rest of the staff are useless if that’s their role model.
Also, went to the toilets which definitely hadn’t been cleaned in a while.
Awful place, management should be ashamed.
