Just the best!

Taxi is a skill building, brain growing, relationship making, long game experience. I credit this company for jump starting my career and my understanding of where I fit within it. Thank you Michael and team❤️❤️❤️

Well Worth It!!

I haven’t gotten any forwards from TAXI, but even going to the Road Rally and getting the genuine responses from screeners has been a huge help to me in finding my way in the music world. Thank you Michael and the TAXI team!

The internet is toxic, reviews like these are why we can't have nice things. Here's some fact-based perspective.

Almost every naysayer opinion on the internet about Taxi is completely out of touch with reality, or based on an absolute lack of understanding on what the service actually does, and how the tv/film industry works.

Taxi is basically a dating service with the goal of connecting music composers with the people that actually place music into tv shows and films. The service is not for everyone, to get the most out of it you need to a) have some basic musical skill, b) be able to record a professional sounding track, and c) be able to accept feedback and adjust your creative output accordingly to meet client needs.

Taxi is not a place where you take your beloved musical creations and try to force fit them into a music editors hands. Music editors are looking for music that supports their scenes, they are not trying to promote you as an artist. Successful sync composers know how to deliver what their customers want, and save their own art and creative work for other uses.

If you are not good at following instructions, you really have no chance of having success in this industry (and probably most others as well). And, it doesn’t matter if you are an amazing musician with a great pedigree and tons of road experience. Being a performer is one thing, being a successful writer is another. I’ve got decades of education and performance experience with awards, blah blah blah. But I knew nothing about the tv sync business until joining Taxi. And I wasted my first two years with Taxi by submitting to as much as I could instead of focusing on my musical strengths. Did I whine about Taxi because my music wasn’t good enough? No. I learned, and got better. Several years later my music is currently heard on about 75 unique tv shows and has appeared in three films, including screen credits.

Taxi works if you put in the work and put your ego aside. The music industry is not for everyone, and it is certainly not fair. Success can come to people that actually stink musically, because success today is not always about talent. But there is no better service online today than Taxi to learn about the business. If you are skeptical, do what I did back in 2015: I made the mistake of reading internet reviews, and nothing has changed. Tons of people whining about it, with zero context or understanding. Back then I joined the free forums to see for myself. No obligation, it is truly free and has thousands of members. It is also the most positive forum I’ve been involved with, because members like me truly want our peers to be successful, and the veterans like to pay it forward. Do yourself a favor and check them out. See for yourself, get away from internet toxicity. Create a free account, submit links to your music, and learn for yourself whether or not you have what it takes to find success. forums dot taxi dot com

I went with taxi years ago

I went with taxi years ago. They are doing the same thing again after my music has improved. They build you up. Then later criticism on every song. I'm going to try something else especially since I'm already making money on spotify. This company isn't worth it

BUYER BEWARE!!

BUYER BEWARE!!! Even though there are many sites including the Better Business Bureau stating that this is a legit site, it is absolutely a business that has questionable business practices. You pay a yearly subscription, however, to pitch to the many "opportunities" that they have, you have to pay again, and they rarely accept any material, even material that has proven acceptable on many other platforms. If you have the money to waste, then go ahead with the Taxi subscription, otherwise, BUYER BEWARE!!! I would not suggest this company to even my greatest enemies.

I was on the way to signing up and…

I was on the way to signing up and paying the $300 when i read the reviews below, then i started asking people around me and thankfully about 4 or 5 of my close musicians told me they had used taxi a while back and it matched exactly to what others are saying in this thread. I immediately closed out of the site and would never use them as it seems to be nothing more than a cash grab.

I have been with Taxi for years

I have been with Taxi for years. They got the right name…….Taxi ……they pick you up then drop you off.
I can’t believe that not one of my music creations have not been even considered. Now these songs were fully produced beautifully, vocals and instrumentation were
expertly gone over and over before we sent them in. I’ll show you how they are blood sucking. The same songs were sent to Arista records by my lawyer. Guess what? We were notified that this record company wants to use my songs for writing and arrangement. Who the hell is reviewing these songs at Taxi?
Also you will be hard pressed to find any artist that has been accepted by any company through Taxi. They should be called Toxic instead of Taxi because they can be addicting to you as they keep spreading poison to suck you in over and over. They prey on your hopes and dreams that will never result in anything with Toxic…….sorry, I meant Taxi.

soulless demons that dont care about musicians.

they are in it for the money, not you. worst experience of my life. 300 plus $5 per submission. they will contact you numerous times to submit. they already have their selected people through back channels. dont waste your time. save about 5 grand and hire a music agent. taxi people are evil souls that eat off submissions from misguided artist. i hate them dearly

I first signed up years ago because…

I first signed up years ago because they promoted themselves as an A&R service to help artists. They promoted sending in songs not produced or stripped down. I got rejected because they didn't like the production! I tried again recently to give them a 2nd chance. They still advertised they accept stripped down demos. I got rejected because I didn't use enough instrumentation! So there's still false advertising. Also they said the piano track I used was outdated! This is a latin grammy nominated keyboard player that played on my song! The anonymous reviewers they use have no idea what they're doing and are only there to stop. Taxi is just another watchdog at the gate to stop you but now this one you're paying for. They are not a service to help artists. They have false advertising and are another soul crushing, artist dream killing musical experience out for money.

Doesn't live up to the hype-- or their "guarantee"

If you're a middle-aged guy with a laptop and MIDI keyboard writing music in his shed or mom's laundry room, Taxi is for you. Almost all of the listings are sync jobs for background music in tv shows and film...and almost all of their success stories seem to stem from those jobs and that demographic. I, too, wished that I had done more research: I make a living as a professional musician playing and recording in multiple bands and with folks you've heard of...but Taxi, for all intents and purposes, is really a film/video company, not a music one, and it needs to be honest about that. I wasted a year waiting for the listings to match the promise...and wasted a lot of money doing so. Sure, you need to put in the effort-- any musician who wants to succeed needs to-- but Taxi needs to be more upfront that they are for the "in the box" laptop music-making brigade...not the gigging band/musician who is already making a living and simply wants to get their music out to a broader audience. FAIL.

Unfair feedback and too obscure listings

I joined taxi.com with the intention of getting my songs placed. Been a member for 3 months and very disatisfied with the critical way the songs are evalued. Firstly it is expensisive to join and then you have to pay a fee each time you submit a song. (ok fair enough) Then you get emails telling you about Taxi despatch which is for the few who write that sort of stuff, and yes, another yearly subscription fee for that too if you wish to submit to them. It seems that you have to have your own studio to submit to these listings, so it's not suitable for a songwriter in general. Some the feedbacks on my recent submissions have been said that the chorus doesn't stand out enough, in fact the chorus is very catchy and has been evaluated at my own publisher as being as the following: (which I have copy and pasted for accuracy) Right on point with She's A Tomboy! Love the pedal steel and the fantastic melody... Nice work! Your song is currently under consideration for the opportunities you listed above. And that is just one instance of one song. I would cancel my membership right now and get a refund, but somehow I don't think they would oblige as they've got my money now. Would I recommend, no, unless your are an out and out composer with top facilities, and even then the choice for everyday music is limited to generally out of the norm genres. I gave 2 stars instead of one as the people are actually nice people, but the company needs to be more up front and honest with what is required before you join. They may have over 100 opportunities per month, but out of those maybe half a dozen may suit the everyday songwriter, and even then you need to be a producer/composer/artist to maybe get the best out of the company and listings. Not for me!

Spent one Year on this Site

Spent one Year on this Site. Got zero Forwards. My Projects are professionally produced.
They are very focused on Styles, originality is not what they are searching for. To me Ways like theirs are typically for nowadays Business. All must be on the absolute save Path. No Experiments, no new Ideas, Only what had Sold before. Anyway its more then Questionable if Singers should sing Songs they did not write by themselves. They are just using Space in the Business who could be filled with People who really have something to say with their Songs.
One Thing: They are giving really nice Feedbacks. They were quiet impressed by my lyrical Content, my Song Structure and my Production and the Professionality, but it was in NONE of all Ballparks, at least for their way of looking at it.

Maybe ok for jingle writers?

Spent a couple years submitting music on this site. Seems it may be best for jingle writer type musicians, who want to read a "listing" and create a tune directly for that listing. Reviewer comments, 1 out of maybe 10 are helpful, most are not. In the 18 months, I had 1 forward, and didn't hear back. You could argue my music isn't good, of course. You could also question the legitimacy of the service. Probably much better way to spend your hard earned money on marketing your music.
