The tax preparation itself is very easy and convenient, but this service should be free for all citizens and should not be a commercialized product. The provision of digital tax preparation services should be funded directly through the government so that taxpayers do not have to pay again for the right to have their taxes filed properly and easily. The current system disproportionately affects low-income individuals and families, and survives only as a result of unethical lobbying.

First off, checking your refund status is way not user friendly to anyone because you have to go back through so much bs to view your rejection errors that the IRS and IDme don't even make you do! THEN in that same screen (noting you only use an email for notices about your refund after submission) you have "check your refund status " twice and then "open my return" like why? There is no easy way around just simply finding an "ACCEPTED OR REJECTED AND WHY" BUTTON like turbo, freetaxusa, ninjatax, etc etc ALLL have it very accessible to see your error codes and not have to go thru loop holes. THEN I got rejected like 4 times from the IRS for a latitude and longitude directions for a credit I never even signed up for in the beginning!! Then had to go through number of hella options and numerous ChatGPT and Claude screaming sessions at the poor AI cuz we both think each others retarded advice is a crock of sh*t because TaxAct has the option to delete a form under the form assistant but when you click the trash can on the 8911 forms it does not allow you to delete sh*t and you think its deleted because you're on your mobile device little did you know you had to be on desktop to benefit from all the features and the screen glitches so you think your cool then hit save n close and off to the IRS your form goes then you find out manually because even with an email listed for notifications you don't always get notified of your results so you have to MANUALLY go back in through bs and find it yourself and go on this rabbit hunt of google search queries to find the source deep within the forms themselves to why TaxAct software keeps electing you have an EV CHARGING STATION when you don't even have a flippin car listed in the credit sections!! Now please explain that to me! But I did learn one thing in that dark section that commercial business owners are banking off those EV charging stations getting $100,000 credit for every set they build on their property...anyways... If my form gets rejected again for this same bs i will be beyond unhinged and I will be calling in Monday to your customer service because you inconveniently have NO ONE available on weekends to answer customer questions of TaxAct preventable glitches during the tip end of TAX SEASON! Does that even make any sense??? Rhetorical question. Are your sales numbers that good that you don't need to stay on top of your quality customer service to your lagging client list?? Or are your about to file for bankruptcy because your customers are dwindling down and out and the company just doesn't even care anymore to be available during tax season for software preventable glitches like this that have been going on for DAYS - which one is it?? AND maybe just maybe if the company is really still trying to thrive in the competitive world, you may want to bring someone on who trains LLMs on the IVR systems and customer service chats and get a flipping AI with some actual knowledge and information! Like whom did your coding for your AI?? They need to be fired for contributing to your loss of customer satisfaction ratings. I will not return to TaxAct ever again unless some miracle from a flying unicorn with pink purple stripes occurs because there's so much TLC needed in your software and it shows beyond the critical frustrations js

Been using and recommending TaxAct for many years, but after this year, NO MORE! It costs more and yet gives less value. The software made basic errors. Worse, it is now, impossible to know what errors or omissions it made on your forms until AFTER you paid and so when both the AI and customer service agent (rudely)said the question I asked about “should be there” but when I showed her that it wasn’t told me “not to worry about it and just leave it”! And also when I pointed out another potential error on a form that the software mistakenly attached to my 1040, she didn’t know what a 1040 WAS!?!!! And then got defensive and rude. For what was obviously a tech issue, rudly said “you’ll have to pay for additional assistance” . Desperate to still get help. I was forced to make nice in order to keep her calm. I asked for help with the errors on another form and she begrudgingly ended up admitting that there was an issue and “escalated it“ assuring me that I would hear back from the team. Not having much faith in that, and having already paid, with no hope of refund. I eventually at the last minute had to do my best to force it to correct and then eventually submit it as is and pray for the best. I was left feeling taken advantage of. Having paid $170 for a whole lot of hassle. It seems that since they had my money they felt they no longer needed to help me. I will no longer be using or recommending them.

There was some complicated entries, unnecessary prompt and ads encouraging you to buy and the toggle button was already highlighted so as you press continue you are making a purchased you aren't aware of until later.
