Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 206 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people found it extremely difficult to contact the company, reporting unanswered emails, phone numbers that rarely connected to a live person, and very long hold times. Customers frequently experienced waits often exceeding an hour, only to be disconnected or find no agents available, making issue resolution challenging. However, some people were satisfied with the product, describing phones as awesome or decent, and praised the service quality, finding it excellent with good reception and easy setup once activated. Conversely, others experienced issues with phones malfunctioning, not charging, or having very slow data speeds that hindered basic usage.

AVOID PLAYING WITH TAG MOBILE

1. I am a disabled senior. I was looking for a cell phone company since my previous carrier never replaced my WARRANTIED android and I refused to subsidize their Scam. I thought TAG MOBILE looked good. I am on food stamps AND Medicaid, so I'm eligible for the Lifeline discounted service. I also needed a phone obviously, so I chose the cheapest android that wasn't a flip phone, a Samsung Galaxy S10E, and submitted my application AND PAYMENT of $19.99 plus tax.
After a WEEK of NOT getting a phone in the mail, I called customer service. This is what I was told.
1. TAG verified I WAS, in fact, Lifeline eligible, which I've been for 13 years.
2. The advertised price of $19.99 was ONLY for NEW customers.
3. I was NOT considered a new customer because, even though I never had TAG MOBILE before, I was a former client of a carrier that they MERGED with, so based on that, I was not considered new.
4. He had no REAL explanation for what happened to my $20, so I've approached Capital One Bank to follow up on THAT fraud.
5. The fact that the posted prices are targeting new clients ONLY was delineated on their website under "upgrade phones"

Just prior to writing this review, because of my longstanding reputation here on Trustpilot, I wanted to make sure I wasn't falsely accusing, I read EVERY LINE on that website page, and there is NO SUCH price designation. So
TAG is full of you know what, and I plan on following up to get my money back. When I came on the site tonite and saw their ALREADY LOW rating, I chuckled.

Tax write-off scam

I contacted these guys told him my phone make my cellular service so they decided to send me a Sim that's worked on my phone which it did not, so I'm figuring they just wanted my information so they can get a tax write off. I do not recommend these guys to anybody.

A leading FCC LIFELINE PROVIDER called…

A leading FCC LIFELINE PROVIDER called TruConnect had sent me a sim card that I have needed every since I purchased a new phone from your company. I purchased the A67L for 49.73 with credit card ending in 5584

I need to use my phone because I have serious medical issues and it is my understanding that you have put a block on my account phone claiming " suspicious activity"!!! That is a bunch of BS! And what you are really doing is intentionally holding my phone hostage and preventing me from making important contacts with my medical providers! All of my emails to your company are being chronologically recorded and being marked as exhibits in a civil lawsuit complaint that I plan on filing shortly if I do not get an immediate response from aTAG to unlock my phone so I can contact my medical providers.

I cannot believe how this company has treated me from the begining!!! It has been a complete nightmare and it had caused me tremendous stress and anxiety to know that a company like TAG mobile treats vulnerable adults who rely on and expect to get the service that they are promised. Instead, I have been taken advantage of. I've been lied to and I have been completely ignored and your company has failed to provide even a modicum of responsible stewardship when it comes to assisting the needs of the poor and vulnerable citizens who have put their trust in companies like yours who have instead created false and fraudulent advertisements and in turn have seriously effected individual lives that urgent require direct communication with their medical providers and instead your lack of immediate response and empathy towards those who put their trust in you are now out of communication with their doctors and other medical providers and you are responsible for this breakdown in communication and there is no excuse for this flagrant and intentional negligence that had effected hundreds of individuals. Have you taken a look at the reviews for your company??? It's appalling to say the least!!! You should be ashamed of yourself. And you need to to unlock the phone that I purchased with my money. I'm not about to be stuck with a useless phone because you people failed to provide me with the service that I believed you were going to provide and now that I have found a service provider in TruConnect who has responded immediately to my needs for a sim card and now I have tried to use the sim card in the phone that I purchased and now you want to put a block on my phone because of suspicious activity!!!??? Unblock my phone now so I can get ahold of my medical providers and then to my attorney!!! You guys are a bunch of shameless thugs who prey on vulnerable adults period.

If you need the free phone don't apply here

Don't get me wrong. I greatly appreciate not having a phone bill. But I applied with Tag because I also needed the free phone. I chose the one I wanted. It says you may not get the phone you choose, if it's not in stock you may get one of the others that is in stock. Cool. Not a problem. Well I received a sim card for byop. I messaged them and they said they give free ones if they are available. No where did it mention that. So i waited 3 weeks for my SSDI and pay $40 for one. On my application receipt they put they cover me $120 for the free phone I chose but didn't get. I think they should reimburse me since I purchased one for half that price. Anyway if you are needing a phone also don't choose Tag

"Attempting to port my number out of…

"Attempting to port my number out of TAG Mobile has been an absolute nightmare. After initiating a port-out request, TAG sent a PIN via SMS that never arrived. I spent over an hour on hold with customer service, finally got through to a rep, and was immediately disconnected. A callback came through but the notification was delayed and I missed it. Called back, got through to another rep who stalled and then deliberately hung up on me. Multiple follow-up emails to their support team requesting the PIN via email have gone unanswered. TAG Mobile is clearly obstructing the port-out process in violation of FCC porting rules. Their customer service is virtually unreachable and when you do get through they disconnect you. I have filed a complaint with the FCC. Stay far away from this carrier."

Tag mobile

I can’t even give him a one star. They don’t have no customer service that you can call if you have a problem with your phone and they never never hardly answered their text or emails. They will do it two or three weeks later, which is ridiculous so if you get a phone with them, you’re asking for a lot of trouble I wouldn’t even bother to even go with this company

HORRIBLE

HORRIBLE! Despite the government's benefits, they sent a piece of metal (iPhone) that cannot be used. Even Apple sends alerts multiple times indicating their device is degraded, but they try to ignore that proof. Stay away!

I need to activate my iPhone 15 pro…

I need to activate my iPhone 15 pro max. Has an eSIM card. Not sure what your sending me in the mail… Hope it’s a code or something to transfer my number to my iPhone 15 and tog we it activated. Have no phone now soni can’t even call you. I will told to call old company TruConnect to get the PIN number and they deactivated my account. The tracking on whatever you’re sending me has been awful. No updates and when I check it was supposed to be here today. I just need the activation code for the eSIM card. Also, when I tried to call the company you guys to check on anything I get options but never an option to talk to a human but now I can’t call either because I have no phone so if somebody could email me some information I would really appreciate it.
When I was on your site, it looked like it was gonna be really easy for me to switch and keep my phone number now I probably don’t even have my old phone number and I have like so many doctors and hospitals that I have to switch the number on and right now I’m waiting for a surgeon to call me about a hip surgery and they can’t call me. I can’t call them. I have no family in this area so this is really been stressful and difficult for me. I would really appreciate it if you could help me get my phone activated via email. ASAP. I have so much anxiety over this. My blood pressure is high. I really don’t wanna have a stroke that would not be a good day for me. This situation for me is urgent! Please help me.
C Hamilton

I finally got my phone activated. I was without a phone for 12 days. I had to borrow a phone to get it activated. I had emailed back and forth for days trying to explain how I had no phone to call. I was requesting to be able to activate it online or through an email with directions to walk me through process. Then they finally say I need to talk live to activate it. I was on the phone 2.5 hours activation the phone. The representative I was speaking to told me that she would send me a link that would take about 5 to 7 minutes for me to get it and then I could do it myself and if I had problems I could call back. Not sure why they couldn’t send me the link when I asked him 10 million times, probably eight or nine times. I kept her on the phone waiting for it to come thru by asking a lot of questions. There was no way I would hang up and not have my phone activated because I had already gone close to two weeks without it. So I did manage to keep her on the phone. She kept telling me she had other customers to attend to. I thought that was rude since this customer was going on closer to two weeks working with Customer Service. She shouldn’t even have said that so she was not a very good representative, but I did get my phone running working and so far everything‘s good. I don’t have a lot of bars. I usually only have one or two, but it still works. I just wanted to update my last review. I was able to keep my old Phone Number, which was a plus. When you look at their app, it makes it look like it’s so easy to do, it’s really not. They have a high call volume, but not a lot of representatives. Hopefully I won’t need to call them for anything again.
