Disappointing experience at Porsche Glasgow

Picked up a new 718 Cayman T a few weeks ago. Having waited for a year and generally getting a bit fed up, I was quite excited.

On the day, there were frustrating issues with insurance which I attribute solely to the poor communication from the sales team. Although I resolved myself, it took time and it was not a good start to the handover experience.

I don’t have the spec I thought I’d get from Porsche which is down to poor communication at the time of arranging the spec on the car. When I called Porsche Glasgow to ask about retrofitting, I was told it could not be done. Separately, a friend of mine directed me to the page on the Porsche website saying the part could be fitted. I conveyed this to Porsche Glasgow on a call and they told me I was wrong but they’d check. I heard nothing back.

In the meantime, Porsche edinburgh (part of the same group) confirmed the part could be fitted. I’d separately contacted Porsche GB out of sheer frustration and because over the course of months, I’d gradually just lost all faith in Porsche Glasgow and I don’t enjoy dealing with my contact there. I see their number pop up on my phone and it’s just dread because they never say anything good or that’s particularly clear. I just feel I never get a straight answer and no two answers to the same question are the same. I can’t understand why the Porsche website and Porsche edinburgh were saying one thing but Porsche Glasgow was saying another.

Porsche GB weren’t interested in getting involved and tried to push me back to Porsche Glasgow whilst declining to answer my question on retrofitting. Eventually Porsche Glasgow contacted me only because they were asked to by Porsche GB and said they were looking into it and would contact me. That was a week and a half ago and there has been nothing since. I just feel like I’m bottom of their list now and I also don’t feel like they’ve taken any of the issues that I raised seriously. The issues have gone no further than the sales associate and given that person’s job is to sell a car, they’ve done their bit so are not invested in any sort of a resolution.

I’ve read some incredible reviews of Porsche Glasgow and a few bad ones. It’s easy to think the bad ones are left by people that are maybe just hard to please or a bit awkward but I genuinely believe I had a poor experience with them and furthermore, it was all entirely avoidable. These bad reviews are generally left by people who have exhausted all avenues and have reached peak frustration.

I don’t believe that this is a typical or usual experience from Porsche Glasgow so I can’t help but feel ‘why me’?!

I’ve given constructive feedback to Porsche on the sales process and the handover which I hope they take on board but the reality is, this review and the formal feedback will just be put down to one ‘annoying customer’. Good reviews are apparently important to them because on the day of the handover, I was told they wanted a 10/10 review given to Porsche GB and queried whether I’d give it. It was communicated in a way that I’m sure was intended to be in jest but given my issues with them, it just made me uncomfortable that I was being put on the spot.

It’s very short sighted of Porsche to not try to ensure that each customer has a great experience because all they’ve done is ensure that my next Porsche won’t be from them. Two of my friends were also looking into Porsches but are holding off due to my experience as they don’t want the same issues as me.

Worthwhile also noting that post handover, and with no explanation about why, I’ve been sent a couple of forms via Docusign which look to be forms that should have been signed back when I placed the order for the car. I have just ignored the requests because the forms suggest I should be confirming information about what they’ve apparently told me about finance. To confirm the information in the form, I’d be lying as I don’t recall being told many of these things and I never took out finance anyway. I mention only because on top of the issues I’ve mentioned here and other things, it just felt like ‘here’s yet another thing they can’t get right’. Surely if you need someone to sign something, you pick up the phone and say sorry, would you mind signing this to give them a heads up.

I don’t think any of the process was slick and at times, it felt a bit shambolic

Had my Porsche 911 in for repairs and mot and was kept in for over 2 months, upon receiving and after 3 weeks the low oil light came on.
I spoke with Porsche Glasgow centre and although they did the mot and service they did not check the oil.
My bill was just short of £6000, I was somewhat upset and emailed the Glasgow manager Iain Esdale , been a week now and no response whatsoever.
