A £203,000 Bentley and the worst car…
A £203,000 Bentley and the worst car ownership experience of my life
Having owned premium and luxury vehicles for over 30 years, I can honestly say my experience with Bentley Leicester has been the worst I have ever encountered.
I purchased a Bentley Continental GT Speed Edition 12 for approximately £203,000, taking delivery in June 2026.
A Bentley represents more than transport. It promises exceptional quality, refinement, luxury and an ownership experience to match. After a lifetime of hard work, I expected something special. Instead, the experience has been deeply disappointing.
Complete electrical failure
On 4 September, just three months after delivery, the car suffered a complete electrical failure at a petrol station. It would not start, could not be moved out of Park, and the electronic parking brake and steering lock prevented conventional recovery.
Despite attempts by roadside assistance to restart the vehicle using external power, it remained completely immobilised. I was stranded for approximately six hours before specialist recovery equipment arrived.
To this day, I have not received a satisfactory explanation of why external power could not restart the vehicle. If this was simply a battery-drain issue, why was the car impossible to restart?
Conflicting investigations and unanswered questions
Bentley Teesside investigated the car but could not conclusively establish the cause.
Further electrical problems followed, and the vehicle was transported to Bentley Leicester.
Leicester subsequently identified a persistent 520mA electrical drain which remained unchanged when the aftermarket dashcam was disconnected. Removing the Conbox fuse reduced the drain to approximately 20mA. The Conbox was subsequently replaced and programmed.
Despite this, Bentley's explanation continued to raise the possibility that the dashcam installation contributed to the problem.
I have asked for evidence demonstrating how the camera allegedly caused or contributed to the immobilisation. Identifying a theoretical possibility is not the same as establishing the cause.
Despite repeated requests for technical explanations from 18 September, I did not receive a substantial response from Leicester until 16 October. Important questions remain unanswered.
Throughout the disruption, nobody even asked whether I needed alternative transport. No courtesy vehicle was offered.
Failed delivery and unacceptable communication
After weeks of disruption, delivery was arranged for 6 October.
I waited at home throughout the afternoon and evening. The vehicle never arrived.
At approximately 9pm, Bentley Assistance informed me that delivery could take another seven days.
Following this latest disappointment, I instructed Bentley not to proceed with delivery while I obtained legal advice.
Ten days later, Leicester explained that the seven-day estimate had been incorrect and delivery was supposedly intended for the following morning.
That retrospective explanation is irrelevant to the information I was actually given at 9pm after waiting all day.
Reliability, resale value and lost confidence
Even if the immediate fault has been repaired, I remain concerned about the car's future reliability and whether its documented electrical problems could adversely affect its resale value or make it harder to sell.
These are legitimate concerns when purchasing a vehicle costing over £200,000.
But perhaps the greatest disappointment is the complete destruction of what should have been an exceptional ownership experience.
I accept that even expensive cars can develop faults. What matters is how a manufacturer responds.
How can anyone at Bentley consider this entire situation acceptable, particularly for a brand built around exceptional luxury and customer care?
I have formally requested rejection of the vehicle and termination of the associated finance agreement. That complaint remains unresolved.
What should have been one of the most enjoyable purchases of my life has become the worst motoring experience I have ever experienced.
Good friendly service
Always kind and polite service and professional wood recommend

My car has done less that 2,000 miles and has been in and out of the Leicester site for months for a multitude of problems.
The car has been back with me for 3 days (after another lengthy spell for a gearbox malfunction (second time)). On it's second journey, after having it back, huge warning lights on the dashboard stating differential failure.

I recently had my Bentley Bentayga V8S repaired through Bentley Leicester following accident damage, and I can honestly say the service and final result were outstanding from start to finish.
The quality of the repair was exceptional, completed to the standard you would expect from Bentley. The attention to detail, fit and finish, and overall workmanship were first class. On collection, the vehicle was presented in immaculate handover condition — beautifully valeted, gleaming throughout, and looking exactly as it should. It was a pleasure to see it returned in such superb order.
A special thank you to Paul aka Bob in the workshop, who took the time to speak with me directly as a technician, explaining what was being done and how it was being done. That level of transparency and care was greatly appreciated and gave real confidence that the car was in expert hands.
Thank you also to Sophie and Adam in the service department for arranging everything, booking the car in, and keeping me updated on progress throughout the process. Their professionalism and support made the whole experience smooth and stress-free.
Outstanding service throughout from everyone involved. A credit to the Bentley brand, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Bentley Leicester.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I dealt with Alex and it was a real pleasure. Whilst discussing my Porsche repair he showed me around the new Lamborghini and Bentley cars in the showroom with real enthusiasm and interest.
He personally drove me to the station so that I could go home and even offered to take me home, I declined his kind offer.
He is a credit to the Sytner business.
