Customer service really poor - so little care

This company let us down this holiday
Used to work with Best of Suffolk and customer service was always strong. Non-existent here

We hired two properties in Aldeburgh for two weeks (via Best of Suffolk initially)

In order of annoyance

1) 10am on morning of travel we were informed that our property was above some significant maintenance that was due to be completed before we arrived but due to weather would go on for a few days and that main house and front terrace would be unaffected.
It was piledriviing and banging and carried on for the whole two weeks (although credit to the builders who were the most low key I’ve known)
The main feature of this house was its back garden and views out to sea - ruined
No recompense, no real apology, no truth in the days and inconvenience.
2) no support on trying to support on rebooking or finding alt option for 2nd week on smaller property
We had an issue with family needing to be around back at home so we asked if second week on smaller property could be re-let so we could get a refund or be able to rebook at a later date.
No support and no effort to resolve - we ended up paying for 2nd week
3) we asked for mid stay cleans as we were in for 14 days (normally fine). One of them was fine and contacted to arrange. Second just didn’t happen. I contacted Sykes - they just didn’t respond

In general Sykes responses have not been good at all
Chat on app is awful
And other communication is poor

If your holiday is all normal, booking systems will be fine. Any form of different and you will have an issue.

Make memories

The website states " make memories" we have memories of feeling like we were on a building site. Scaffolding erected next door during our stay. Workmen with loud voices and music blasting out before 8am.we realise this is beyond Sykes control,however when I raised the issues I received notification not Sykes responsibility. Some one to speak to me in person would have been appreciated. Very disappointed with the poor standard of customer service

I did booked a cottage through Airbnb…

I did booked a cottage through Airbnb which that house is managed by this agency and I wanted to extend my stay and I ve cancelled it and I ve rebooked one more time however was written that the money are not refundable and it was such a mistake as I did not realised , I ve tried to speak with them , even the owner of the house tried …it s nothing which they can do ..they are blaming air bnb and airbnb said that the host made the rules so I should speak with the agency …I’m sending them messages and they are not reading them ..I’m ringing them and they put me on the queue and they never ring me back .. this company is totally unacceptable!!! I never in my life experience something like this !! Now I have to pay double for a booking .just incredible !!!! Hopefully one day this agency will disappear ! Please do not book through them !! They are a totally waste of time and money !

I endorse other reviews - do not use!

If only I'd looked at reviews before booking. If I could give it no stars I would. From staff reviews it is a bad company to work for too and I have had a very bad experience as a customer. Suffice to say there is absolutely no empathy or flexibility in the booking and they refused to contact the owner on my behalf. The £20 deposit is a scam to draw you in and once you have paid it you are obligated to pay the full deposit even if your circumstances change and that will bring hardship. They may be legally watertight but their business ethics are appalling.

Working at Sykes was the worst!

As a former employee here I can say with 100% conviction they are not very inclusive. From the moment you begin training they give you very little leeway for important reasons to miss training days. As someone that is non-binary and had a transgender friend start working with them at the same time I can say they didn’t respect us until we fought them back and forth about it. They don’t respect your pronouns or your name. I was lined up for an interview for their IT position at the montgomery site but was denied the interview because a week before it I got sick. It wasn’t covid but it was the flu and we’re still in the middle of a pandemic. So not only did they not care about my well being but they still expected me to come to work even after I told my managers I was sick and called HR. DO NOT work here. Toxic work environment and unless you’re close to someone there already you won’t be moving up any ladders any time soon.

Please do not take any notice of…

Please do not take any notice of reviews on Sykes own site. Negative reviews are completely erased.
Little point in looking at only edited reviews. The company really pull the wool over your eyes.
Don't be taken in like we were.

A totally unethical Company - DO NOT USE

We use Sykes for booking for our holiday cottage. I have had loads of issues with them but today’s is by far the worst. They are TOTALLY unethical. We have had many cancellations due to COVID and we have allowed customers to re-book. Unbeknown to us Sykes deducted double commission from us. When we looked up why the explanation was commission from the first booking as if it had happened and a re-let commission which was on a slightly higher rent. They charged us £177 commission and we came out with £101 on a rental cancelled due to Covid and forward booked. Had the customer cancelled they would have got a full refund and we would not have been charged double commission. Totally unethical and disgusting bearing in mind that we had no control over this due to Covid. We have many bookings like this so sadly will be ripped off many times over. We have complained and I will escalate. Just beware booking with Sykes and using them to rent your holiday property.

Refund refused

Booked a cottage with Sykes which was straight forward.
However on arrival the property was not up to standards.
No social distancing or covid measures put in place. The cottage was absolutely filthy and long story short, we cut our holiday short. We were told we would have a refund! Only now sykes is refusing the refund and saying we have to go through the property owner! However the property manager is telling us that it has to go through Sykes! Sykes claim they are unable to get through to the property owner which is strange as it's a business and they've answered every time I've rung. Be careful booking with them as you will not be refunded!!!

Pathetic company

Hi y’all I’m so dam pissed off at Human Resources of this company it is pathetic. Here r the reasons.
1. The hired me and had me do the on boarding paperwork then change their mind oh we came to a decision that your not able for rehire with us.
2. The staff are rude and disgusting meaning they don’t have consideration for second chances.
So Sykes your ridiculous and karma will get you hard so believe that yo. I’m sick of being played like the bad guy when it’s you.
