Unhelpful, unfriendly and slow

I found Sutton Mattocks unhelpful, slow and rude to deal with. I hired them to remove my ageing father’s name from property title deeds, but it was almost impossible to get any information from solicitor Afolake Idowu about the process so that I could inform my father about what he needed to do. Afolake's communications were unfriendly and impolite, and I received a rude demand for instant payment after their own accounts team billed me incorrectly. The process started in July and the document was received in late December. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

Slow and inefficient

Slow and inefficient. Poor communication. Other parties involved in this house sale are commenting that our lawyer is rude and "not on the ball". An ongoing, aggravating experience.

No visibility into progress, no support to answer complex questions coming back about the property, no effort to look up information this firm already has about the property from previous work. Overall feels very behind the curve and ripe for replacement with AI!

Utterly terrible experience

Unfortunately I had the misfortune of having to deal with Sutton Mattocks. We were selling our leasehold flat and SM were the solicitor for our landlord. We had some changes needed to the lease so we were forced to use the landlords solicitor for those. initially we asked for a quote, we were given the quote but it was not very clear what it included, so we asked repeatedly what was included to which they would only reply that they could not tell us until we pay them the fees. How can you expect us to pay for the fee if we do not know what it is for!?

Subsequently we were forced to pay the fee not knowing what it included. Once we paid they were excruciatingly painful to deal with. Taking weeks to reply to emails and completely ignoring our deadlines we had to deal.

I tried to make a complaint, to which it was completely ignored. Their communication is very poor and I hope to never have to deal with them again. This review only scratches the surface of all the things they did wrong.

If I had the time I would take the issue to the legal ombudsman, but I think they rely on the fact that people don't want the stress of having to do so.
