Lady using ProCove versus traditional Gyproc plaster coving.
I have been brought up in a decorating business and have used Gyproc coving on many occasions in the past, but as I am a) female and b) not very tall and now getting on a bit !! but also working on my own, I wanted to add coving to a house that I am converting, but could not envisage handling the lengths of Gyproc that I needed, on my own. I hesitated at using Procove because of the inherited trade bias towards Polystyrene versus Gyproc, but thought I would give it a try as it looked good and the reviews I had read sounded good too. I was also concerned that the adhesive that is recommended would be strong enough to stick to an extremely shiny decorative wall panel in the shower area. Having now completed my new bathroom, using Procove, I can only say that I shall be using it in future; It is so light to handle that even to get myself in a very tight shower area, with an overhead strut supporting the glass shower panel and a drench head shower rose, together with the fixed rose, and all the relevant pipework, I managed to wheedle the already glued up length of Procove, with one hand, into the area, up the steps and onto the wall without a problem; The adhesive indeed stuck so well that within ten minutes, when I had discovered that the angle was not that good, I had to PRIZE is off....... and cut a better angle - whereas if I had been using Gyproc in such a tight situation, either it or I would have snapped. I have only one piece of advice to anyone using it, and that is not to be too aggressive whilst wiping off any excess adhesive from the face of the Supercove, as it not quite as robust as the Gyproc - other than that it is absolutely, a product that looks good, is not as expensive and is so very easy to use, to cut, and to paint that it makes light work of a task that was generally only for the Professionals. ! said tongue in cheek.
