The insurance company is deeply disappointed.
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Suncorp Car Insurance.
I applied for comprehensive insurance for my 2014 Toyota Crown, and the policy was created and issued to me (Policy No: MPS065620456). However, the certificate of insurance incorrectly listed my vehicle as a 1984 Toyota Crown, which is a clear mistake from your system or processing.
I contacted your customer service immediately to correct this error. I spent over two hours on the phone, but the issue was not resolved. Instead of fixing a simple mistake, I was told that the policy had to be cancelled, and worse, that you could not offer me insurance for my vehicle at all.
This is unacceptable for the following reasons:
- The error was not caused by me, yet I was penalised
- I wasted significant time trying to fix your mistake
- No proper solution or alternative was offered
- The service provided was inefficient and unprofessional
As a customer, I expect accurate policy handling and reasonable support when issues arise. Cancelling a valid policy due to an internal error without offering a solution shows a lack of accountability and very poor customer service and disappointed.
I will be considering alternative insurers due to this poor service.

Payment issue
Did transfer some fund for petrol last weekend before the bank maintenance but eventually got declined..
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Stay away from these crooks.
Paid $1,600 for comprehensive car insurance for a year. Just 2 months later, an unfortunate event left us stranded in the middle of nowhere with a wheel completely off our 4WD.
It took ages to get someone to tow the vehicle because we were in a rural area. Our car then sat in a yard for 1 MONTH, a full MONTH, before it was even assessed. During that time, we were stuck far from home and had to pay for accommodation ourselves.
They took an entire month just to assess the car. No help at all. Every time you call, you wait anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour to speak to someone. When you finally get through, you’re speaking to an offshore call centre where staff can’t help and repeat the same scripted response, “I can’t give you a specific timeframe right now.” No updates, no communication, you are just left waiting.
We had to call over 30 times just to get this escalated so something could finally move forward.
The whole process goes through so many different teams that nothing gets done efficiently. And after all that waiting, they decided to write off the car as a total loss even though the issue, a detached wheel, seemed repairable.
To make matters worse, they cancelled our policy and we never got any refund. They kept the full $1,600 we paid for a 12 month policy even though we were only 2 months in.
This experience has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. We have completely lost trust in insurance because of this.
Suncorp Insurance has been nothing short of frustrating and unfair.
My claim has been subjected to unreasonable delays, poor communication, and a complete disregard for clear evidence. Despite an official police report explicitly confirming I was not at fault, Suncorp still attempted to treat me as liable, causing unnecessary stress and financial uncertainty.
It is unacceptable that an insurer would ignore a police determination and instead prolong the process while placing pressure on the innocent party. The lack of accountability, transparency, and urgency shows a serious failure in basic claims handling standards.
As a customer, I expected professionalism and fairness. What I received was delay, confusion, and a decision that directly contradicted the facts. I would strongly warn others to think carefully before relying on Suncorp to act in their best interests when it matters most.
Three houses Big Hail damage wont settle
Three houses Big Hail damage. Suncorp wont pay so far four months. I have put in a complaint to AFCA
Suncorp denied my claim for hail damage…
Suncorp dented my claim for hail damage and said only the small dents were caused by hail and 52%of the damage was manufactured. We had a massive storm and the hail was up to and over 9cm. The local paper wrote an article to draw attention to the tactics suncorp use to avoid their responsibilities .
Recently replace my dept cards
Recently replace my dept cards, that was 3 weeks before.
Had not received my pins to the cards yet, despite have visited runaway Bay branch in person.
Had three times asked for my pins to be delivered at my home address, they keep on pushing me around to get the Suncorp mobile app.
They reassure me that my pin codes will be delivered, to no avail
Avoid this bank
For many years I was with Metway who joined suncorp. I am no longer a suncorp customer after hostile arguments over bank charges. At that time, years ago, both my husband and I were with Suncorp, but they treated us terribly. I would actually give them less than zero. My son is still with them, but I hear him complaining all the time about his experience.
Stranded by suncorp…no access to online banking can't pay bills or rent
I'm overseas trying to change my password for online banking I have been locked out for 26 hrs with no way to get credit on my phone. After I called the overseas number for help the suncorp guy I was speaking to said he will call me back that was 24 hrs ago still no return call still no access to my online banking I used the last of my credit calling the overseas suncorp number, thanks for nothing it's terrible service I will cancel my account when I return to Australia and never deal with suncorp again.i don't expect anyone will bother
Basic Car Insurance Rip Off
Had fire and third party insurance for my 2015 Holden Barina (I'm the only owner with no aftermarket), never had an at-fault claim ever, parked in a locked underground garage most times and only driven to work and back, some small weekend travel.
Apparently that risk is valued at $187 per month! Slowly crept up to that value over the course of ten years only to be told at the point of cancellation "oh, you have a $3 per month additional for windscreen coverage. We are not liable for overcharging".
Commonwealth's car insurance for the exact same coverage etc. at $57 a month.
Never go with Suncorp beyond the teaser rate and never stick with them for the medium/long term, they absolutely will rip you off.
You will feel completely abandoned by them
Wow, an absolutely terrifying experience. I rang them to add to my raft of insurance policies with them for travel insurance, it goes straight to an auto bot tells you to get onto their website and disconnect. This is how you will be stranded by them if you are over Overseas and any kind of problem. Do not book with Suncorp
I have been with them since I was 18…
I have been with them since I was 18 and won’t consider opening another account with any other bank
Suncorp Bank on an ambitious mission to actively rid itself of customers
Suncorp Bank appears to be on an ambitious mission to actively rid itself of customers — and I was lucky enough to experience this firsthand.
Attempted to make a perfectly normal transfer to purchase a car. Result? Account blocked. No warning, no explanation, just full financial lockdown. Apparently, this is where 24‑hour assistance would come in handy… except there is none. When I eventually reached someone, I was treated to a delightful combination of rudeness and complete cluelessness.
After much effort, my account was finally unblocked — only to discover that every single transfer thereafter was placed on a 24‑hour hold. Yes, every transfer. Even $100 to my daughter for urgent petrol money was deemed highly suspicious and locked away for a day. One can only assume Suncorp believes petrol can, in fact, be purchased retrospectively.
Needless to say, I have now taken my business to another bank. Unfortunately, not before being forced to wait yet another 24 hours to access my own money so I could leave.
If this is customer service, it’s certainly… a choice.
Warning to business customers
Put our whole business account on hold as of Sunday because of a missing 18 year old share certificate requested on Friday 8pm. Took 4 days to reactivate this. Huge implications for our business.
You should not and can not trust your money with this bank!
As a long time customer and actually…
As a long time customer and actually years ago employee Suncorp has now become the worst at keeping your money (wages) after a holiday. I'm still waiting after Aust Day 2026 on Monday, its now Thursday late afternoon 4.08pm no wages in sight. This is woeful. I have a payment set up tonight for my homeloan which will now NOT go through because I haven't received my wages. I've check with my Employer and it has been processed. Suncorp Why are you keeping peoples wages. ????
Worst banking experience I have ever had - random holds with no warning or notice
Put a random block on our business account, absolutely notice or warning. They claim we need to re-identify ourselves and provide documents and information that had already been provided. Payments in are bouncing back, important bills we need to pay were late because it took them days to action it.
Now, about three months later, they have done it again. We have now given this info and these documents several times. How can their systems be this bad?
Never bank with Suncorp, we are switching and I will never do business with them again.
Zero stars
Zero stars. In my experience, USELESS insurance.I found dealing with Suncorp insurance an absolute nightmare.Their claims department is horrible to deal with, even for not-at-fault claims.
Call centres are slow with long wait times and poor customer service. Also high insurance premiums to get any decent coverage.
I will be AVOIDING Suncorp insurance and their many other insurance brands in future.
Car Insurance nightmare
Suncorp car insurance without doubt the worst choice I could have made after 45 years of driving and had insurance all over this time with other companies
The stress from this and with my disability issues has taken it's toll Think twice here before choosing them
Shocking Service
This bank needs a good lesson in customer service. From the front end where there is generally one teller on and several others swanning around causing a wait time of at least 20 minutes to their phone service. Hard to get on to speak to a real person and when you do their language is poor and they are very unhelpful. Im still waiting for my problem to be resolved and it was put through as Urgent. No communication. Keep changing what they want.
