Advertising on StumbleUpon

I was a paying customer/advertiser on StumbleUpon. It was a great tool to promote articles from my design website. Suddenly, they stopped approving my campaigns, claiming there were to many ads (there was a medium rectangle on the right and a leaderboard) and the content was duplicated from the web, which was not true. All the text content was original (not copied from anyone) and all images were authorised by the designers or artists for publication.

Interesting

The interest-based search of the site is really fun. It can offer you some surprising pages you would never think of yourself. If you need some entertainment without deep sense - choose this :)

Horrible Customer Service

I recently joined stumbleupon.com and within 3 days I was banned. The reason? I shared a blog post from my blog technelogos.com/blog. It took them 2 weeks to even respond to my multiple emails. They were extremely rude, claiming that, "I used a personal account to promote a business...". My blog is not a business. They claimed this violated stumbleupon.com's ToS. When I refuted the claim they never responded. I tried multiple times to get my account unlocked. They wouldn't respond. Finally tweeted to them and had my account deleted. They treat their customer's like their a nuisance. Way to go. Complete waste of time.

Very interesting

I go on Stumbleupon.com a lot. I have been on it enough for it to learn what I like, now every time I click the stumble button, I find something awesome! It never fails to surprise me.

very nice to pass the time

If you are very bored on your laptop and don't know what to do, yes it does happen from time to time, on stumbleupon it shows you funny or beautiful or useful websites by clicking on one button it will redirect you on another random page that has been pre selected by the team, I think it is a very nice concept.

Stumbleupon opens up new worlds for me

I was getting into a rut while websurfing. Somehow I had gotten into a box that went back and forth between a few websites along with e mail and facebook. I wanted to diversify my searches and find new stuff that was interesting on the web. I registered at their site and answered questions about what I like. With Stumbleupon, I am sure that I am finding websites that I would not have found on my own. I love that. I am very curious, and I want to know a little bit of everything that's out there. In addition to websites, I have found some amazing photos and videos as well. I like and dislike things they show me to help their recommendations become more suited for me, which are sometimes very specific interests.

Boldly taking you where you've never been before (ish)

This website is great, but you do get a lot of stuff you aren't really into which is vaguely linked to the interests you chose, but you can just click "stumble" again and it's gone.
The feature of like/dislike buttons to bring you more or less of websites want you want/dont want is good and works to a point, but is quite generalized though and goes on subject not content.
The treat and reason I use this though, is finding those completely random websites/pages that there is no way in hell you'd ever have found otherwise, the little gems of information it gives you on stuff you're interested in, but wouldn't think to look up, the epic pictures you wouldn't search for etc. It just takes you to the random corners of the interwebs ;) Def a winner in my books, only reason for loosing a star is the generalized nature of the like/dislike button.

Too much irrelevant content

Stumbleupon.com and I have a love/hate relationship. It is great in that it acts as a way to surf the web in an area of interest to you. You pick what kind of sites you would like to see and click the stumble button and up comes a site that has something to do with what you typed in. Now here also lies the problem with stumbleupon. When you move on to the next site, you could end up looking at a website that you arent even able to justify how you got you in a seemingly completely different category. Also, you may land on a site that is relevent in category but is essentially just a spam site within it. Overall, I would recommend just heading over to one of your favorite search engines like Google, Yahoo, or even Bing to find stuff you like.
