Since moving to Tasmania two years ago…
Since moving to Tasmania two years ago I didn’t know anyone except my daughter who moved here eight years ago.
My friend from Sydney where I grew up had joined Stitch.
She had nothing but praise for the group so I checked it out and immediately signed.
I am a very social person so missed the friendship and communication of liked minded people.
It has been nothing but amazing and has made my life full again.
I am no stranger to going out alone but with this new group I can experience activities that I wouldn’t have done alone
The site is so easy to navigate and varied.
I am so lucky to have found Stitch as it’s changed my life.

It is a fantastic platform and great community full of great meetups of different activities. Have met many wonderful people but I have to say the website is outdated and frustrating to use and needs upgrading. Worth joining however, I have enjoyed it .

Stitch, it gives you wings ....
The website and app on my phone work really well. Very easy to navigate. I live in Melbourne and find that there are so many activities and events being organised by members of Stitch every day of the week. You can pick and choose whatever event is of interest to you. Stitch is a great way to meet so many different people at events that are fun to attend.

Stitch meets a need that many of us…have: to extend our connections with people.
Stitch meets a need that many of us have ever since the pandemic: a way to meet new people and make friends. I love to learn, so this is perfect: I get social connections as well as take classes and learn new skills. It is perfect for people like me whose family lives out of state, am retired, and need social interaction with very nice people.

Kind and uncomplicated
The great thing about Stitch is that members are generally motivated by kindness and a wish to extend their friendship circles. It's all pretty informal and easy-going. Members invite everyone (more or less) to an activity and everyone can choose whether or not to go. The organisation keeps an eye on the smooth running of things via member reviews.

Stitch Sydney offers a marvellous socially inclusive network combined with an amazing variety of activities ; for example: walks, meals, coffee or pub get-togethers, interesting lectures, trips and local theatre. There are often more than twenty varied activities in one day! Stitchers are friendly, supportive welcoming to new members.

A great social networking experience
I've been a member for over a year and have enjoyed meeting and socialising with some great people. I've always felt safe and welcomed at every event I've been to.
So many activities to choose to attend, and you can also create your own ones and invite others to join you.
I've encouraged other friends to join and they are enjoying it too.
Highly recommended !

you assume the worst about a person if…
you assume the worst about a person if they share contact information with another member and even suspend a person if they share too often. It is like a kangaroo court and Stitch assumes the worst without getting all of the facts.
Impossible to do a face to face activity with the other person when they life 500 miles away

Hi David, we don't assume the worst about any member, but we do have a duty of care to keep our community safe. Because scammers try to get people off platform so they can avoid Stitch's safety protocols, we provide a warning every time someone tries to do that on Stitch. If people are sharing contact details for valid reasons, such as after they have met at an in-person activity, then that's totally fine. But if someone repeatedly tries to get people to communicate outside the platform, they are likely to receive a warning or suspension, simply because the platform has to do what it can to protect members across the millions of interactions it monitors each month. We know that's an inconvenience for real members of the community, but it's the price we need to pay to keep everyone safe. As long as you focus on meeting other members at in-person activities in the community, and work within the Stitch Community Guidelines, you will be fine and won't ever face suspension. Hi Janis, it sounds as if you live in an area where members have joined but nobody has started suggesting activities yet. Stitch is a member-based community, so everything that happens in the community relies on members. It can take a little while to get started in the beginning, as social anxiety makes it daunting for members to get involved, but we've seen hundreds of communities get started once one or two local members tell us they'd like to help make it happen. It's only a matter of time for it to happen in your area. If you'd like to get involved in helping us make that happen, please check out the Stitch Pioneer Program, where we provide support to members who would like the community to be more active in their areas. We've started over 50 new communities through the program over the last year, and it's very rewarding!

Friendship
I wanted to meet new people and have fun doing different activities. A lot of activities involve food, we all need to eat but nice to sometimes find something to enjoy that does involve food and the costs. There are lovely people who are very welcoming. I am happy to have found stitch

I joined stitch in October 2025 i have found it a brilliant way to meet up with other people , socialise and make new friends.I would definately reccomend it to anyone .
You recieve regular updates regarding what events are on in your area and other area's if you are willing to travel. I am always out enjoying myself
