Made the mistake of completing their online form, before reading these reviews.
Got a call from them, and after informing them I was not interested, they now keep pestering me from different numbers.
Calling me and then hanging up.
It's like they have a call centre run by children.

The company should be directed to…

The company should be directed to Advertising Standards. The advertisement states you have to eligible for free solar panels if 1. You desire t debit is over £81. 2. You live in Scotland and 3. Live in an eligible post code. THIS IN NOT TRUE! Now I am being hounded by phone call after phone call!

I'm glad I checked Trustpilot reviews before filling in any forms. I saw the AD on YouTube, then I thought to myself, don't trust any ads on YouTube , every AD I have checked upon turns out to be a scam.

Bombarded with calls

I responded to an 'start my solar search' advert on facebook and within 2 minutes received a phone call from them. I arranged with the caller to contact me again in a weeks time as I'm away from home. I've since received four calls from them, each time a different agent. I now just cut them off.

Hounded by solar companies

Filled in the form here 4 months ago to get a quote. The call was a waste of time and I told them i wasn't interested. Since then I have been hounded by solar companies. I get 4-5 calls a week from different solar companies trying to sell me solar panels. This has been going on for 4 months now. I'm considering changing my mobile number it is so bad. Some of them like energy aware continue to call me even though i keep telling them not to.

Unless you want to write off your number, don't fill in the form!

Avoid giving them your phone number

Filled out an enquiry form on social media to them in the hope of just receiving a quick quote regarding solar panels but since then have been inundated with nuisance calls from random mobile numbers from call centres that just don't stop no matter how many times you ask them to remove your number from their list. Complaint filed with TPS, it's about time this kind of nuisance business practice is shut down. Don't make the same mistake!

Incessant harassment

Like others here, I’m also being harassed by these callers multiple times a week despite asking to be removed from their records. If you are in the market for solar panels, I would highly recommend going for a company that can do the simple task of removing you from their database. Or at the very least, noting who they’ve already called.

Harassment

This company keeps phoning me multiple times per day despite having been asked to be removed from their systems. They always ring from different UK phone numbers. Wish they’d stop harassing me.

SCAM

Big John lied IT IS A SCAM. When you go on the website there is just a mobile number and no credible links from the government or anyone like that! STAY AWAY. And you only did it because of the funny advert

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!

Went through the instagram ad on the promise of grants towards solar. Then checked the website no area links work ( red flag) the guy called from a mobile number ( red flag) took me through the survey and wanted to send someone out to my property. When I asked If I actually qualified for the advertised grants he said no, when I said I'm not interested just hung up on me, didn't thank me for my enquiry like a legitimate company would. When I tried to return the call it fails to connect ( alarm bells ) I'd strongly advise people go to a legitimate company like Octopus for a solar quote and stay well away from startmysolarsearch

Complete scam, stay away!

I saw their instagram ads @startmysolarsearch where they advertise that people can get "new solar panels for little to no cost" based on a new "UK solar programme", all you have to do is fill out a quick online form to find out. Well this turns into a "quick phone call" which then turns into a "quick in person evaluation". All for them to send a guy over who says the adverts are a "misunderstanding" and they "have been trying to take them down for months". Considering their instagram page has uploaded more content almost 3 months later with the same misleading information I highly doubt this isn't deliberate false advertising.
After this I received another 2 phone calls both I told I'm not eligibable for, and yet since then I still keep getting calls and text messages about this. It's been almost 3 months at this point, stop harrassing me!

Update 31/10/24: Almost 7 months later and still receiving calls/texts. I suggest signing up for the Telephone Preference Service if you want them to stop (tpsonline.org.uk)

Update 06/02/25: Still receiving calls over 10 months later. Ridiculous

Update 05/01/26: Recieved another 4 more scam calls just for today from numbers beginning 0333 053. Almost 2 years later
