doubtful about split pricing effectiveness

Split cab idea is good especially for solo travellers arriving at an airport but I was not impressed with the website and FAQs.
Website does not ask for flight info for arrival(pickup) or departure(drop off) bookings- with this info a simple algorithm (need not be AI!! ) can predict the demand and possible price reduction based on common destinations from/enroute airport.
The FAQs does not say about cancellation and refund process prior to journey.
There is a customer service phone line, when called I was informed cancellation is free upto 24 hrs and the agent then suddenly changed his mind and inform me it is 48hrs .
This online website/service is probably functioning now as a mere taxi booking and forwarding service as the 'split' element appears to be non-functional in 2024.

Good experience

The best cab service I have ever come across In spite of heavy rainfall these days they don't hesitate to come to the doorstep and make the journey hassle-free till the end.

I started booking with them few years…

I started booking with them few years ago and to be honest the service used to be great. Cab drivers very reliable and always punctual, charming all time. But this is not really thanks to split cab, is it? The drivers are selected by other companies so, well done to them!
The app is nothing amazing, most of the time the "track my driver" does not even work or it does not give a real picture of the situation, the notifications come late or they don't come at all but as long as the driver comes to pick you up, who cares. Lately, I noticed that they increased their price which I thought, "fair enough", it was really cheap before and I understand the honeymoon period is over. But, you would think as you are paying more the service must be unbelievable for sure! OHHHH YESSS, it is! Before I remember drivers used to wait at the airport even 2 hours and if the plane was late and the driver decided to go, the customer service used to get you a replacement or force them to come back to pick you up. True story, it happened to me and I remember even thinking it was a bit much as it caused delays to other customer but as the concept was, you book a shuttle at a share price and if it takes longer to get home this is balanced by the lower fare. Now, they change the rules, no longer waiting, price is higher but still competitive compared to uber for example. And I'll say it again, as long as you know and you agree with that, it's all fine. It happened though, two bookings ago, to show me how their customer service got worse. We booked, paid, received an email of confirmation and the driver did not show up. At 4 o'clock in the morning, the last thing you want to is to talk to someone who is trying to convince you that you have never booked although you are saying over and over that you got a confirmation. Whatever... at some point you give up and say "fine get me to the airport now" but their answer was "as we cannot garantee you get there on time you can take uber and we will refund you". You even say "do you know that this is going to be even more expensive?", but the answer was not to worry since the problem was caused by their app which failed on the register the booking they would have been happy to refund that fare and the booking. Ok, booked uber, got to my flight safe and on time, sent the receipt over once I landed to get an answer saying that they would have refunded the failed booking but not the uber. Of course, I told the nice person, Eddy not make disclosure, that I was told something completely different and that to start I would have never chosen to take uber if it was not an emergency (caused by them in the end). Eddy took the decision to forward me their policy and blah blahs which, seriously? Are you trying to educate me on your policy while you should have done that with the first person I spoke on the phone? Already from here you know their customer service knows nothing about customer service. I know very well customers are not always right, I work with them but, if they are right I don't try to kill them with a lecture on my policy. Anyways, got my refund on the failed booking and never got a coupon for the free ride as after I requested it they ignored me completely. So, the bottom line is, if you want to try your luck, book! Drivers are still nice and very reliable... sure they are not their employees! Fares are not that cheap but still acceptable. BUUUUT, if you get to the point to deal with the customer service, drop your expectations. You may never get a real solution to your problem but loads of aggravation in return.
So, is my low rating due to this only one accident over 3 years or so of bookings? Yes, it is! As you cared about sharing your policy with me, Eddy, here is mine: I don't need to be insulted more than once to get my business somewhere else!

Don't book their service if you are…

Don't book their service if you are looking for reliability, professionalism and manners! If they are so cheap is for a reason! be ready to wait for hours without being able to track your driver nor knowing at what time he will come and pick you up! Customer service is non-existent.I won't use Split Cab ever again!

Complete shambles in service and rude customer support

Incident 1: I booked a private van airport transfer 3 days in advance. One hour before the booking time, they sent a cancellation email with no further instruction.

Incident 2: I ordered the shared service to the airport again. Should've learnt my lesson because the driver did not show up and the app wasn't showing any update either.

Incident 3: For both of these incidents, I had to call the credit card company to process a chargeback because the customer service was rude and belittling, and would not bother processing a refund accordingly.

Worst company I've dealt with in a while.

They did not show up

I would rate 0 stars if possible.

The service let me down at the airport at 00:40am. They didn't even contact me, i had to call them myself. The excuse? the car broke down. I had contracted their service 3 weeks in advance and apart from letting me down they did not give me any solution. i had to find my way back home at that time in the night.

Also contacted the phone number in their app to get the refund ad they say they are a third company and that i have to contact splitcab directly. their phone number in google does not work, so now i don't know how claim my money back.

YOU WILL MISS YOUR FLIGHT!

YOU WILL MISS YOUR FLIGHT!
We booked with 2 hours notice as automatically set by their App (which was 5:15 hours before our flight).
Cab arrived 30 minutes late.. But we were still in good time.
Then the cab broke down!!!! ..And we missed out flight.
VERY RUDE customer service by DAVIDE AUGUSTINE who among the other things, told us we should have booked Uber.
Honestly, don't bother.. You may as well walk..
(As SplitCab is just a middle man, we spoke to the driver's company directly who said SplitCab gave them the job at the very last second and they didn't even give them the full pick up address..)
AVOID!! They don't know what they are doing..

Great experience - recommended

I used this company for the first time last week. Initial experience was very good. It saved me an absolute packet going to Stansted airport. I shared the cab with one other person on the way there and nobody else on the way back and was not charged more. Will definitely be using again!

Legit, good price but the app and the sevice can be improved

I used it twice, initially I was a bit skeptical since the price was a lot more cheaper than Uber Pool. Cost me £14 from Limehouse (E14) to Heathrow Airport. A driver was assigned half an hour before the pick up time and I could see where he was thru the app. Got picked up on time, 2:30am, I was the only one since it was just before xmas, all in all 5 star service.

But the second time was stressful, I arrived in Heathrow on 25th of Dec (bank holiday - no public transport), I arrived early so I checked the app to see where the driver was, the app said no driver was assigned, I called the customer services several times, no one picked up, I waited for an hour to see if any driver was going to be assigned in the app, no change in the phone app. Then a driver called and said he was waiting for me. I wouldn't mind waiting for another hour but not knowing what's going on was quite stressful. So I'm guessing since it was bank holiday no one was working in the splitcab office and the phone app didn't give driver updates.
