They were in touch as soon as I registered. Had a later welcome call after sending me relevant information. Call was helpful. Transferring money was straightforward, money was in my Spanish account within a few hours.

I'm not good at putting my money in someone else's hands but throughout my experience I felt nothing but confidence.

Transfer refused after recipient accepted
Though the persons I interacted with were friendly, the company refused to transfer my funds which then had to be returned to an account in my name. This caused all sorts of delays, hassle and stress. This company was recommended for easy currency exchanges - not for me 😒

Shop around to compare rates
I wanted to transfer a large sum to purchase a property abroad. This company was recommended by a friend as it doesn't charge fees.
The exchanges rate wasn't the best but I was assured the service would make it for it and its secure and trusted.
Call backs were scheduled and made on time. All very friendly.
The service was OK until I found a few other big companies offering much better exchange rates - savings of £1000 per £100,000 exchanged.
Communications about potentially cancelling the planned transactions have only been made via email - no calls made by the company.
Service is OK but not outstanding and there are better rates even after fees have been added.

We do regret that you weren't happy with the exchange rates offered. We understand some other money transfer apps and services may initially offer better exchange rates on the day. However, many of these services have very limited customer support and no risk mitigation on your transfers.
With exchange rates moving by the second, working closely with your account manager to put the right plan in place for your transfers can save you thousands when compared to checking the rate right at the point of transfer.

Disappointed with transfer
I was under the impression my wire transfer would be to a US bank. However, it was to a USD account in the UK. Consequently the wire transfer charge from by bank was double. I won’t be using Smart Currency in the future.

I recently used Smart Currency to transfer money from Australia back to the UK.
I dealt with Danny Cook and honestly couldn’t ask for more. Through an introductory phone call Danny explained the options available to me, in detail and made sure I understood the processes.
He was then able to secure me a deal and lock in a great rate, which I am extremely happy about. After sending the money from Australia and it arriving with them, it was a seamless process to receive it in my nominated account.
I would certainly use Smart again and would not hesitate to recommend Danny and team to any family or friends!

Beat the quote I'd been offered by Wise and Revolut, and far less hassle to sign up for than those. And very nice to be dealing with actual live people when one is stressing out over unfamiliar financial shenanigans, rather than a stonewalling app or webpage.
