One of the worst letting agents
One of the worst letting agents I’ve ever dealt with. We had a really awful experience trying to get our deposit back and were charged additional late fees that were never properly communicated to us. The whole process has been stressful and poorly handled from start to finish. We are now seeking representation to challenge the charges and recover our deposit. I would strongly advise others to avoid renting through this firm.

A simply awful experience with SHH as a landlord.Their communication when it occasionally happened was awful and their organisation shocking. Staff don’t seem to care and communications were so poor it was almost unintelligible .As examples they failed to pass on rent due and had to be constantly pushed to address the damage that occurred to the property. There was at best misleading information and at worst untrue information. I would never do business with them and advise others to avoid at all costs. I have rented my property through others and it was in different league.

We recently got our Mortgage accepted with Slater Hogg and I'll tell you it certainly wasn't an easy process for Nicola. Having had an offer accepted with another company before and it fell through. from day one she was sure she could get us a mortgage and she did just that. In a very short space of time. We were first time buyers with a bad credit history and a load of paperwork but she didn't shy from that she smashed it for us. 5 Stars for her from us.
If I could give it no stars I would
If I could give it no stars I would, trusted them with my property to rent. Continually asked them to do inspections on property but only one Inspection was completed over 2 years , asked again to be completed the next year but never completed. When tenants moved out and got exit report was told that it was one of the worst the person completing the report had seen. There was nearly £3000 of damage to the house and a garden full of German shepherd faces, which my neighbour told me the was where the dog did the toilet as it was never walked. It was then I found out my one bedroom house was not just for the couple but their baby , one of the adults brother and his dog and a cat. If the visits were completed as requested all of this would have been picked up. All I received back was the £700 deposit to repair house to be re rented. Another thing is that no exit meter readings were taken between renters resulting in me be sent bills for tenants who had not paid their bills I took my own readings and paid what I owed and advised provider to sender the remaining bills to slater Hogg and howison to pay as the hadn't been taking meter readings. I asked to be transferred to countrywide but was told by the manager that this couldn't happen until bills to OVO were sorted so I had to continue dealing with a company who I had no faith in and at that point I decided to sell the property as all the issues were having an effect on my health. I had asked on several occasions for the complaint department details to lodge a complaint but no one could help me with this

Slater Hogg - Hamilton branch
Selling our home. Our initial visit with the Lister went well and the photographs were okay. It very much went downhill from there. We had agreed the house would go on the market on Boxing Day, feeling happy on the advise that this is the busiest day of the year. It was then radio silence, the lister would not return calls or messages. The house did not go on the market Boxing Day as promised for a reason unknown. They did put it on the following day but there was no preparation marketing work done, also disappointing. In the period of 12 weeks our house was on the market, we only got 2 viewers. During which time they offered to do a relaunch to drive up interest, which consisted of a new video posted to their social medias. However they do not have a social media manager or a following on any of their platforms so this was another waste of time. After raising concerns to the manager about this, we were told that, Slater Hogg doesn't rely on using social media to sell their houses as they have been around for 50 years, therefore don't need it. This begged the questions, why did they bother with the so called relaunch and why cant they find any viewers. They did not communicate well at all overall and seemed very passive in their approach to selling. I think they need to improve their customer relations and employ a social media manager. We ended the contract having to pay full marketing fees, feeling very disappointed in the service we received and paid for. Would not recommend.
95, Watson street
I’ve had a really positive experience with this letting agency. The team has been incredibly helpful, professional, and responsive throughout the entire process. Whenever we had questions or needed assistance, they were quick to respond and genuinely supportive. They made everything much easier for us and handled things smoothly. It’s rare to find an agency that is this reliable and approachable. I truly appreciate their help and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy letting agency.
I recently moved out
Five star for rating for Slater and Hogg Hamilton, the staff were incredibly supportive Kirstie, Natalie and most especially Nikki Kaur they were always at my beck and call, professional,Polite and efficient throughout my time with them as a tenant.
Excellent communication and attention to detail
The Slater, Hogg & Howieson team at the Cumbernauld branch are excellent. They were super helpful regarding my recent property purchase and I'm very grateful for their good communication and attention to detail. Thank you so much.
Not supportive of owners
As a reluctant landlord I feel that I have to advise against using SSH Shawlands as agents. Having rented out my property through them twice, ive seen that property damaged twice and have never been able to recover any of the costs from the deposit. My tenants were to check out without a report being issued...but chargęd for and evidence of damage being supplied. Its been very disheartening to have to write this, I wish better for others
This is for the East Kilbride branch…
This is for the East Kilbride branch and their complaints department. They merged with The Property Store and I had a complaint, not only was it not dealt with impartially, they knew the landlord was lying in his request for the full deposit back, they have 'lost' all my information prior to the merge that I have requested. I was told to try The Property Store (That no longer exists) I sent an email to an employee of The property store and yet again did not receive a response. That has been the story since the ending of my tenancy, and SHH don't want to know. I would stay away from them especially if you are letting a property from them and document everything in email, even if you have a phone call, back it up in an email and keep the evidence as they follow landlords instructions even if they know that what they are claiming for has not been done, so claiming for betterment.
Shocking and really upsetting experience with the Cumbernauld branch. I have serious ethical and electrical safety concerns as well as how they treat people.
Appalling experience with the Cumberla
Not to be recommended
The initial contact was fine and the photographer did an excellent job (but don't think he is an SHH employee). I think SHH are too inclined to rest on their laurels as a major player in the Glasgow property market. After that visit I had many, many forms to complete before anything else could happen. Mitra, whom I dealt with from then on, was extremely offhand and always gave the impression I was a nuisance. Had I listened to her advice, we would have gone to an earlier closing date and accepted an offer significantly below the price achieved. There were also many mistakes in the viewing days and times, which was unhelpful generqlly as well as inconvenient for my tenants.

I just had a call from some kind of Slater Hogg rep today and follow up texts asking me to phone urgently so I could get mortgage advice. I decided I'd give it a try. I'm in Fife and got someone with a London accent who had no idea about my circumstances. It felt like phishing to be honest and it involved really idiotic questions about my renting my property out (I'm literally not and never have intended to) and how many bedrooms I'm looking for (even though I have my offer for my new place accepted as of a week ago). Really bizarre. It was like someone who is cosplaying as a fortune teller trying to get answers from you by widely guessing at circumstances and past. I'd not use this company again tbh.
Nightmare
Shawlands branch . They are nightmare . They don’t care extremely unprofessional. Had an appointment with them and after that no email no contact . They are not picking up calls for days . If don’t believe call there office . I have seen there staff chatting all day and laughing but not picking up calls . It’s a complete joke . Extremely frustrating and disappointing. Don’t waist your time with them you better go another property agent .
The Branch Manager of the Bridge of Weir Office
The manager of the Bridge of Weir branch (Eilidh Shepherd) is not very professional & urgently requires customer relations retraining. As a legitimate buyer and having recently viewed a property, I advised I may need to return to the property to put across my full financial situation to the seller along with a verbal offer, as I had been invited back by the seller, it was at this point, Ms Eilidh Shepherd threatened to involve the police if I was to return to the 'For Sale' property I had previously viewed just days prior (Under what guise for police involvement, I have absolutely no idea).
I had previously made a 2nd viewing request for that night, which was accepted and 2 time slots sent to me for viewing, and 1 other slot verbalised over the phone, then miraculously, the call came to inform me no future viewings were possible, even although I had been informed that other people were going to view the property that night.
All in all, came across as very sly and stealthy way of attempting to run a sell, especially threatening to involve the police in a sale of a house towards a genuine and eager purchaser.
Not to mention the twice that the phone was put down on me by Ms Shepherd, very unprofessionally and rude.
I will never give them any business in the future and will be advising family and friends to avoid like the plague.
