Bankrupt!

Ordered Aug 2015 - received OK .

However the phone developed a fault in July 2016. Took it to Samsung who said it was actually from the United Arab Emirates and they will only provide support if I'm in the UAE! Also that the manufacturers guarantee was only for one year not the 2 years in the UK.

Simply Electronics did offer their own 12 month warranty but now they've ceased trading they've stopped replying to my emails.

Getting the phone repaired locally, as I'm not planning on going to the middle east any time soon. £140 for the repair but I'm hoping I can reclaim that under section 75 from the credit card company.

I had not idea the phone wasn't a UK version. It even has the UK address of Samsung on the back! Samsung said the phone was genuine and they do produce phones with UK details despite not being a UK phone?! - Don't ask me why they would do that.

So if your buying a phone from a questionable source check with the manufacturer that it is a UK version or at least UK support for it.

Will only be buying from well known companies in the future!

Horrendous!

Finally, about time that this company is stopped!
I had many issues along the same lines as everyone else on here. I paid by Debit Card but my bank have refunded the money back into my account. Definitely worth speaking with your bank and seeing if they can help, I had no issues in sorting it!

Does anyone have the liquidator address in HongKong?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy phone for my daughter last year from Simply Electronics and it developed a fault. I returned it to SE for repair under warranty after going through their (long winded) returns process. Now they've disappeared and my phone with them. I have no address except the forwarding company in Aylesbury and their email address. Can anybody help?

AVOID this company - SCAM!

Ordered an mp3 player off this site. Unbeknown to me, the company are based in Hong Kong. Never received the item, despite receiving their apologies and assurances it would be sent to me ASAP, when I followed up my order. What then happened is I received an email, stating the company had gone into administration. I was given little over a week to fill out a load of documentation (all written in Chinese), which they knew full well I'd never be able to get to them before the date given. Not only that, but my card details were compromised, following my purchase through Simply Electronics. Luckily my bank (HSBC) detected this, before any dodgy transaction went through. Seems like one huge con and I strongly advise anyone to avoid dealing wth this company completely!

Hoping for refund

Ordered a HTC10 for £435 on June 12 but they did not deliver it even after 10 working days as promised. Contacted the customer services and said it has been placed on priotity but still not delivered. Sent an email asking if refund wld b earlier or the delivery. To my surprise, they cancelled my order instead of answering my query!! Received an email saying my money wld b refunded within 10 working days. But now the company is closed or sth....no email responses, no customer service or any other contact. Have filed a dispute transaction with my bank.....
I hope I get my money back..... its a lot for me as i'm a student working part time.
Please refund everyone Simplyelectronics 😭😭😞

Ceased Trading :-)

Placed order 18 June for a £450+ mobile phone, that was shown as "In Stock" on website... Nothing received. Emails sent, but replies received that stock had 'run out' and although polite, lacked any specific information, other than it was now on 'back order'...
Website recently 'greyed-out' with message indicating 'not accepting orders', but any account / order tracking also blocked... Further emails sent but without any further replies ( although they were all 'read', up to yesterday, by 'somebody'... ).
This morning, after 48 days with no product or refund, I received a 'Winding Up Notice' email, dated 29 July, indicating that SE have now ceased trading - Not before time, looking at other reviews.... :-)
Now let's see what PayPal can do to get me a refund.
SE hopefully gone and won't be missed :-)

Bankrupt - Phone not delivered

I have also been a victim of this; paid €585 for a phone which I will not receive. I paid via VISA debt; if anyone else has, you should be aware that it is possible to apply to your bank for a 'charge back' in this case. Your bank should have the necessary forms online, and the emails regarding the bankruptcy should be proof enough. I've done so, though I imagine their being in liquidation probably affects this a lot - if they really are even bankrupt, that is.

An expensive lesson; if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

Caught in a trap

I placed an order in May for a Sony Mobile. Order never arrived and got the self generated emails assuring my order was being processed. By end of June, I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. This too never materialised. My order involved a BACS transfer as I wanted it delivered to another address. The site was so convincing that I fell for it, hook line and sinker. Really hope they get caught out. There is nothing worse than taking peoples well earned money and getting away with it.

A company with serious problems

This is the first review I have ever written. At the end of May I was looking for an Apple Watch and came across the Simply Electronics website. I assumed it was UK based as had a UK flag on the front and everything appeared normal. I've never had a prop Ken with any online purchase before. I made my payment and then the following day came across these reviews so cancelled the order. This was the beginning of the problems. I was told a refund would happen within 7 days but on the advice of previous reviewers on here had already started a chargeback. I was informed by the bank to allow Simply Electronics a chance to solve the issues. 14 days later not refund despite so many promises via email and phone that it would be resolved. I emailed 2-3 times a week to be told the same thing every time. Often the telephone had a "fault" on the line. Essentially I was told it was in a priority pile etc and id be emailed when refund was issued. There were no direct answers to any questions. After two months last week my bank successfully issued a chargeback to the account I made payment from. Very lucky for me as yesterday I received an official notice from Simply Electronics to state that the company is being wound up and going into liquidation. A meeting will be taking place in Hong Kong on 9th August and all creditors are to send a notice of interest etc....I can't copy this notice into this review but I urge anyone that has ordered or waiting for refund to contact your bank immediately for advice. I also received an email from an money advice organisation I had contacted previously regarding this matter who also advised regarding this latest development yesterday and also advising to seek advice from your bank. This has been a very stressful and awful experience that I hope will never happen again. It impacted my family not having access to a large amount of our own money. It's made me really cautious now regarding any purchases I make online and has been a steep learning curve. I hope that this review will help in some way to helping resolve any outstanding issues you have with Simply Electronics. Good luck.

We need to team up against this huge injustice

Reading through a few of these posts, it appears I am another victim. I won't bore you with the finer details but made an order for a tablet, they took £432.95, I hadn't received the item after 6 weeks and 8 emails, they then told me it was out of stock and I would be refunded, 8 emails chasing the refund later, I get the notice of administration.

Unfortunately, I used my VISA Debit Card meaning I am not covered. I cannot believe that in this day in age, such a fraudulent company can be set up and exist, robbing the honest people of this world of their hard-earned money. I'm not experienced in this type of thing but surely there is some sort of petition or lawsuit that can be originated to get the criminals that set this company up, brought to justice and the monies rightfully returned to their victims?

Awful company gone bankrupt

I ordered a couple of fitbits through this company. Never received them. Luckily got in touch with my bank who have now refunded me (they said many people have had issues with this company).
If you paid by credit card please get in touch with your bank. Fingers crossed it's not too late.

SCAM

Payed 476.95 GBP for a smartphone. Asked to cancel and the refund after few days (before the shipped it). about 1 month of email just to take time. Now I received the bankrupt email. Can we make a class action ?

As many people wrote, I payed with visa debit. So there is no protection. Maybe we can do something together ? Add me on facebook... I live in Cambridge.

Bad Bad Company

I too ordered a Fitbit Blaze on the 11 May 2016 unwittingly before checking out the company and reading its reviews. BIG MISTAKE! One that I will never repeat again I can assure you. Although I didn't keep copies of my emails to them chasing delivery. I did keep all the emails from them. So with no sign of my purchase forthcoming at the beginning of July I contacted my Bank as I paid with my visa card. Barclays were brilliant setting the wheels in motion immediately after explaining Skrill Ltd are very like PayPal but on a smaller scale and are regulated the same as banks and other money exchanging companies which gave me some comfort. Barclays sent me a letter/form within days including providing proof of purchase and my attempts to receive the goods. Within a further few days as promised by Barclays the money in full was back in my current account. My Bank explained that Skrill Ltd would refund the payment and go after Simply Electronics Ltd. Today I received an email from Simply Electronic Ltd with a "Creditors Letter" advising their customers that they are winding up the company and going into Liquidation. So I am so relieved I got my money back before this happened. I do hope others manage to do the same!

Did they STOP Trading???

Does not surprise me if they actually stopped trading, generic email replies and seemingly no stock of the items that they were advertising, in the end just wasting peoples time when they could be looking elsewhere at a genuine supplier, I used Paypal to pay them, requested a Paypal Invoice for the full amount they kindly obliged, after 7 days if the item has not been posted Paypal will at your request initiated a freeze on the funds in the company's account this goes for all company's, paypal then on my behalf requested tracking details be provided within 10 days or the refund will be initiated automatically, 10 days later after no response from the company the refund was applied to my paypal account, if I learned anything here it was just how good Paypal actually are.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

I've been thinking for some time as to how I might share my utter contempt for Simply Electronics and then came across this site. I have to say that all of the one-star comments I have read are totally accurate.
I ordered a lens for my Canon SLR on 07/04/16 and, over the next 3 months my order 'status' progressed thus (only after e-mail or telephone contact):
Awaiting Dispatch
Order Backlog
Order on Priority
On 31/05/16 I cancelled my order and requested a refund. My order status then progressed through:
Order Held
Refund Submitted
Refund on Queue
Refund in Progress ... and finally, the very reassuring ......
Refund on Priority Rank !!!!!!
On 06/07/16 I requested a chargeback from my Creditcard Company and received the money in full from them.(well done TescoBank)
It is my opinion that this whole operation is a scam and am relieved that I was able to get my money back, some people are obviously not so lucky.
I would advise everybody buying online to pay by Creditcard especially if the item is costing more than £100 so that they are covered by Chargeback rules.
I am pleased to see that the website is no longer accessible, I hope that I have played a small part in its downfall!!
**** BREAKING NEWS ****
Have now received an e-mail to inform me that this company is being wound up with an attached form to complete as a creditor due to being owed money by them .. I won't bother as I've already had my Chargeback from Tesco Bank.
I just hope they don't resurface under another name .. BEWARE !!
