Awful experience with Sillworks /…

Awful experience with Sillworks / Harddrivesdirect. Ordered 8x ST20000NM007D for a datacentre hosted server, VERY clearly listed as "New". We paid remote hands charges to have the drives installed, and saw existing partition tables! Checking the SMART stats saw uptime on the drives of over 20,000 hours.

Raised this with the customer care team at sillworks who said that they likely just shipped the wrong drives and that we could either RMA or take an $80 discount. We asked for fresh drives to be delivered, and they said that they don't actually have any New condition drives in stock after all, and that we would have to pay for the shipping on the RMA and pay our remote hands to remove the drives!

They still have "76 New" drives listed on their site.

This is clearly a scam attempt to sell refurbished drives as new and hope nobody notices. If you're bought any drives from Sillworks / Harddrivesdirect recently, make sure you check the SMART statistics to ensure you haven't been scammed as well!
