I have rented cars in many countries and have dealt with my share of bad rental companies, but my experience with SRC Rent Car was genuinely shocking. From the moment I picked up the car, the experience was problematic. The vehicle was essentially brand new, yet it had apparently been fitted with old tires.the agency even acknowledged damage to the tire when i picked it up.During the rental, the same tire suddenly failed catastrophicly while I was driving, leaving me and my family stranded for hours. The response from SRC was appalling.I contacted the company for assistance and was left waiting for an unreasonable amount of time. Despite knowing that I was stranded with my family and had an unusable vehicle, there was no meaningful effort from SRC to actually resolve the situation promptly. I ultimately had to deal with the consequences myself and incur a taxi expense. And then it got even worse.Instead of taking responsibility for the situation, SRC subsequently attempted to charge me for an additional rental day and for the tire.
Think about that: I rented a supposedly new car, one of its tires failed castrophily less than 24 hours after i took the car, I was stranded for hours in 45' heat in the middle of nowhere, I contacted the company for help, and then the company decided that the appropriate response was to send me a bill for even more money.I also have serious concerns about the circumstances at pickup. The employee who handled my rental at the Milazzo agency appeared to me to be intoxicated. I could distinctly smell alcohol on her breath while she was serving me. I cannot determine her medical condition, but this was my firsthand observation, and it was extremely concerning. She was also responsible for information and arrangements that subsequently became part of the dispute. When I later went to the rental desk to resolve everything, I was treated dismissively and, in my view, with outright rudeness. I asked to speak with a manager and initially had difficulty even getting that request taken seriously. When I finally spoke with the manager, the interaction was no better, and she refused to give me her name. The company's internal communication was equally unbelievable. After I had already gone to their office in person to close the rental, I subsequently received an email telling me that I needed to come to the office to close the contract despite the fact that I was already out of Catania. Apparently the people working there don't even know what the other people in their own company are doing. And the €1,500 credit-card hold? They refused to release it when I was there. The company has also failed to provide the documentation I repeatedly requested to substantiate its claims about the tire. No proper inspection report, no convincing technical assessment establishing that I caused the failure, and no proper itemized documentation supporting the charges — just assertions from the rental company.
Their position seems to be: the tire was fine when they gave me the car, therefore the customer must pay when it fails. That's not an acceptable substitute for establishing what actually caused the failure.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that I actually tried to be reasonable. I told them I was willing to pay for the first day of the rental. Since the tire failed before I could use the vehicle for the remainder of the rental period, I simply asked them not to charge me for the additional day and not to charge me for the tire. They refused.
Instead, they chose to maximize the bill.to summarize if I can give a 0/10 to these bandits I would.

!!!!Alerta!!!
Warning! I rented a car with full coverage from this company. More than a month after returning the vehicle, they charged me €39 for providing my details to the police regarding an alleged traffic violation. It turns out that when you sign the rental agreement with them, you authorize them to charge you €39 for every fine they receive.
If you think that’s fair, go ahead and rent from them, but I consider it an abusive practice.

DO NOT USE this Rental Car. They found a few scratches under the car. I see more reviews with the same tactics, then they charge you on the credit card. Be careful

Avoid this company at all costs.
We rented a car from this company for 5days. We returned the vehicle without any accident or incident, and no damage was mentioned when we handed the car back.
After we had already left Italy, they charged us for an alleged hole in a tyre that we absolutely did not cause.
We have photographs taken at the time of return showing the condition of the vehicle, yet the company simply ignored them. Instead of providing objective evidence, they repeatedly sent generic responses claiming that their staff had documented the damage, without supplying any proof that the damage existed when we returned the vehicle or that it was actually caused during our rental.
If you are asked to pay for damage after leaving the country, be extremely cautious. As a customer, you have almost no opportunity to verify what happened after you returned the vehicle.
Our experience has been extremely disappointing. We will report the case to the European Consumer Centre and the relevant consumer protection authorities, and we strongly advise anyone renting from this company to take detailed photos and videos of the entire vehicle, especially the tyres, before and after the rental.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this company.

I recently rented a car from SRC in Bologna and had a fantastic experience. A huge thank you to Lorena and her colleague at the front desk — they were incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional from start to finish. The vehicle was delivered in excellent condition, clean and perfectly maintained. If you're looking for reliable car rental with outstanding customer service in Bologna, SRC is the place to go. Highly recommended! Francesco

Very smooth experience throughout, pickup and drop-off were easy and the car was clean and basically new when we rented it. We had an issue with a flat tyre and they were able to resolve it promptly after we contacted them. Would use again!

I do not recommend this car rental company. There were many additional charges, and the final cost was more than twice the original rental price.
I rented the car for €80, but at the beginning I was charged an extra €50 for being only a few minutes late. On top of that, I was charged another €39 simply because I received a traffic ticket.
The additional fees are excessive and make the rental much more expensive than advertised. I would not use this company again.

I picked up the car at Catania airport and reached Palermo airport in 3.5 hours, stopping only at a gas station. They managed to find three new damages on the car and completely refused to acknowledge the photos I took when picking it up. A disappointing experience and a significant financial loss (468 euros).
The supported is really well after pur arrival at the airport of Catania. Very cheap and helpful, girl named Vanessa. We initially booked with goldcar, never again! Also when our flight was delayed and we e-mailed to bring our car back a bit later, we got a positive and quick feedback via e-mail. The car check went smoothly. We really recommend SRC and book in future with them.

I recently rented a car from SRC Rent Car: a brand-new Citroën C3 with only 1,000 km on the odometer.
Just three days after picking it up, the car suffered a major engine failure and had to be stopped immediately.
The roadside assistance service was terrible. I was hung up on three times simply because the operators did not speak English. This is completely unprofessional (I'm not talking about SRC Rent Car's customer service).
Eventually, I managed to reach roadside assistance. I had to pay for the towing because I had not purchased the full insurance package, which I fully accept and have no issue with.
However, it is completely unacceptable that the rental company does not provide a replacement vehicle when the breakdown is clearly their responsibility. They supplied me with a defective car.
Because of the situation, I had no choice but to rent a car from another company, entirely at my own expense.
Even worse, they even charged me for the missing fuel in the car. They refunded the unused rental days more than a month later, and only after I had to follow up multiple times.
I strongly do not recommend this company. Poor English support, unacceptable customer service, and a complete lack of commercial professionalism.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving SRC every opportunity to resolve this matter directly, I feel it's important to share my experience.
On the day the vehicle was due to be returned, warning lights appeared on the dashboard and the steering wheel repeatedly locked while I was driving. When this happened, I lost effective control of the steering, particularly around bends. It was genuinely frightening and became progressively worse at speeds above approximately 50 km/h, forcing me to slow down because I no longer felt the vehicle was safe to drive.
To make matters worse, I spent around an hour trying to contact SRC before anyone answered my call whilst I was still driving the vehicle.
The first representative I eventually spoke to genuinely tried to help. After speaking to one of their technical colleagues, he advised that dirty sensors around the rear-view mirror were likely causing the issue and asked me to clean them. I followed those instructions immediately, but the problem continued exactly as before.
After the Palermo Porto office closed, I was passed to another representative who appeared to have no understanding of the situation and I had to explain everything again whilst still driving. Rather than discussing the steering issue I had reported, I was simply told the vehicle had a speed limiter and that there was nothing wrong with it or unsafe about it. I was then told to contact Customer Care if I wanted to dispute any charges.
Customer Care later introduced a completely different explanation, saying the behaviour related to the vehicle's driver assistance system and suggesting that I had failed to follow the correct procedure. That was incredibly frustrating because nobody mentioned the driver assistance system during my calls. I followed every instruction I was actually given. It is unfair to suggest I failed to follow a procedure that was never explained to me.
If this behaviour was caused by a driver assistance system operating as intended, why was I given three different explanations by three different people? And why was I never shown or given any induction on these systems when I collected the vehicle?
Because I no longer felt safe driving the vehicle normally, I could not complete the planned return to the Palermo Porto branch that evening. With an early morning flight from Palermo Airport the next day, returning the vehicle to the airport became the only realistic option available.
Despite reporting the issue immediately, following the advice I was given and acting responsibly throughout, I was charged for an additional rental day, an airport return surcharge, fuel and a refuelling service.
The complaint process was equally disappointing. Customer Care's responses were consistently brief, ignored many of the questions I asked and failed to properly engage with the timeline I had carefully explained. I also had to repeatedly chase clarification regarding the additional charges and my €200 security deposit.
SRC maintain that they found no defect after inspecting the vehicle, and I accept that this is their position. However, it does not change my experience as the person driving the vehicle, nor does it explain the inconsistent advice I received or the way my complaint was handled.
My biggest disappointment wasn't simply what happened whilst driving—it was how SRC dealt with a customer who reported what they genuinely believed to be a serious safety issue.
Based on my experience, I would not rent from SRC again.

Great service from the reception, and also good prices. Car was practically brand new.
Shuttle bus direct from airport to office (not more than 3-5minute drive).
Will chose them again when visiting Bologna.

It’s been one month and I can’t take my deposit money back. They are very irresponsible and unreliable. They said they did their part however my bank never received any transaction. They are liars and they dont care about the customers at all!!!!!

Reply from SRC Rent Car
We got accused of making scraches on the rental cars. We have picture evidence, taken at the pickup of the car, that the damage already was on the car. The company ignored the evidence.

DO NOT USE THIS "COMPANY" they charged me extremely high amount of money for pre-existing damages on rented vehicle!!!

Very disappointing experience with SRC Rent Car at Florence Airport.
I only drove approximately 200 km during my trip and added €20 of diesel before returning the car (I have the receipt). After returning the vehicle, they charged me an additional €23.10 for fuel plus a €25 refueling fee.
According to their version, the car was full so it needed more than €43 of fuel for only 200 km driven, which makes absolutely no sense. I repeatedly asked them to provide a simple photo proving the tank was completely full when the car was handed over to me. They refused and kept repeating the same generic response about their contract terms.
Their customer service showed zero willingness to properly investigate the issue or provide transparent evidence.
This feels like a business model based on charging customers after return and expecting them not to fight back for relatively small amounts.
I strongly recommend avoiding this company and choosing a more reliable rental provider.

Scammers — never rent a car from them. They don’t return the deposit, they claim damages that never existed, and they have no proper communication with customers. They simply ignore clients and disregard all rules for vehicle pickup and return. They also leave customers with no chance of getting their money back and delay refunds in every possible way, falsely attributing damages that were not present when the car was returned. They do not follow any clear procedures for handing over and returning vehicles, and they never return the money.

My experience with this company at their Pisa branch was disappointing and left me feeling very uneasy.
From the outset, there was persistent pressure to purchase full insurance. I declined multiple times, yet the upselling continued, which made the pickup process uncomfortable and unnecessarily drawn out.
The bigger issue came at drop-off. The vehicle inspection took over 10 minutes and felt excessively detailed, with staff going over the car in a way that seemed focused on identifying anything that could result in an additional charge.
Although no damage was identified, I was later charged €25 for “extraordinary cleaning.”
The car had only light dust consistent with normal driving conditions in rural Tuscany with no stains, no spills, and nothing beyond what should be covered under standard cleaning.
Importantly, I have my own time stamped photos taken at the point of return, which clearly show the actual condition of the vehicle.
After this experience, I reviewed feedback on other platforms and noticed similar comments from customers describing very detailed inspections and additional charges being applied. While I can only speak to my own case, this does raise concerns.
I have formally disputed this charge and will escalate further if necessary.
I would strongly advise future customers to:
1. Take detailed photos and videos at both pickup and drop-off
2. Be cautious of repeated insurance upselling
Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Avoid Sicily Rent Car at all costs! I rented a Peugeot 208 in Palermo, and they charged me a €39 "admin fee" for a traffic fine issued in Milan (1,500 km away!) during my rental period.
The evidence of their error is undeniable:
- Total mileage: I only drove 490 km in total (verified by the return receipt). It is physically impossible to be in Milan with that mileage.
- Vehicle mismatch: The fine is for an "autocarro" (truck), but I was driving a small passenger car.
- Timeline: The fine was issued in Milan just 26 hours after I picked up the car in Palermo.
Despite these facts, the company ignored all my emails and refused to help. Because of their negligence in reporting the correct data to the authorities, I am now facing a potential €100 fine from Milan that I shouldn't even be involved with.
They take your money and leave you to deal with their mess. Absolute lack of professionalism and basic logic. Stay away!

Really bad experience with SRC Rent Car at Turin Airport.
I had a prepaid booking with pickup at 21:30, and both the website and booking confirmation said the office was open until 22:00. Still, before my pickup time, they told me I would not be able to collect the car. When I arrived, the office was already closed.
Because of this, I was forced to rent another car at much higher cost just to continue my trip.
I will be reporting this to the relevant consumer authorities and taking further actions.
Be very careful with this company, especially for late pickups.
