I finally managed to contact the Chairman of Sherwood’s Christopher Elvidge who did reply promptly and stated that he had asked the MD Simon MacConachie to call me. I did receive a call from Simon MacConachie. Unfortunately we were not able to agree a way forward. The main safety issues I raised were not answered. I am unable to use the car part from 1-2 mile journeys as the battery life indicator is faulty and so I can safely drive any distance as I am unsure of the miles available. (This is only one of the faults I have found) The car is not fit for purpose. Again unfortunately I bought the car and did all the paperwork online and because they gave me some discount I agreed to collect the car. I thought I would’ve covered under the online buying right to return car up to 14 days after purchase. However Sherwood’s refuse to recognise this as an online purchase as I collect the car myself.
However this legal stance is questionable there are two legal trains of thought. SO PLEASE ensure if you think you are buying online DO not agree to collect the car.
I am currently in touch with both Rip Off Britain and the Citizens Advice Bureau. I will keep you updates. If anyone wants to reach out to me please do so. ALSO. I have been more then willing to work with Sherwood’s as they offered to swap the car. And although the alternative was £3000 more expensive they offered me a lower ‘trade in’ price that I paid for the original faulty car!!! Unbelievable

Recently bought a newer car from Sherwoods in Sunderland. The car we seen was from the Durham branch but as we had already been to Sunderland to test drive a similar model a few months previous we decided to ring Alan who had helped us previously. Alan was great in taking car of the whole deal. Not pushy which for me is a big deal. Rang him on Friday night and by 11am the next day he had been to get the car and brought it to the Sunderland branch for us to have a look at. We were happy with the whole deal. Very straightforward but that was mainly Alan sorting it all out for us. 5/5. Even the youngest daughter had a good time running around the showroom. Thanks again.
