Just been into the cafe I often pop in…

Just been into the cafe I often pop in for the hot chocolate as it's so delicious. I was served by Henry today he was so polite and welcoming to myself and my little dog. As I sat and drank my hot chocolate I noticed how good Henry was at his job welcoming everyone who entered and working hard serving he was also so patient with a very old man who wasn't sure on what to have Henry helped him know about the different drinks. Thank you for another lovely visit definitely visiting again soon happy new year.

Waited 1hr 10 mins for breakfast to be served!

We visited Sheppys, which is local to members of my family, for breakfast. We booked a table for 10.30am an arrived on time. There were four adults and a two year old. We ordered drinks and then a waitress came to take our food order. We waited and waited and a table of five which came in after us recieved there food then a table of three recieved there food too. We asked how much longer our order would be and they said it was been prepared now. By the time our food arrived we had waited 1hr and 10 minutes which really took the shine off our visit as it's hard to keep a 2 year old occupied for that period of time. Not acceptable!. The food was delicious and the waiting staff were very apologetic but we will think twice before we visit again. The manager did give us free drinks as an apology for the unacceptable delay but we would of preferred not to have had the delay in the first place.

let down big time !

Visited with my elderly mother today who was looking forward to a cider and a light lunch in the cafe only to be told there wasnt any lunch food being served but we could get a baguette from the shop and eat that in the cafe . Went to the shop area where there was a choice of two baguettes at £6.95 each !! there was no way my mum would manage one of these on her own so I purchased one and two packets of crisp total price £9.95 !! I asked the lady if she could cut it into two which she kindly did . I took it back to the cafe where I asked for a plate to put it on ! Went to the bar and got my mum a half a cider .My mum hardly ate any of her half of the baguette ,one reason the baguette was sliced all the way through so it was hard to eat as it was a wide baguette, another reason the lettuce was brown on the edges and the bread was pretty dry !! she left most of it stating thats disgusting !! Really disappointed with this visit as my mum doesn't get to go out often due to her mobility and heart issues so a nice day out was ruined by this experience.

Came today and booked a table for 1pm

Came today and booked a table for 1pm. We sat down and had to ask for some menus. Once the menus were delivered we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Drinks were delivered quickly and the Cider with Raspberry (sparkling) was lovely.
We then were waiting for our food and it had got to 55 minutes so I asked when our food was coming. We were told that she would check and let us know. She came back and said it was being dished up. The way she told us makes us think our order had been forgotten about especially as two tables that came in after us were served their food before us.
The food that came wasnt overly great. Potatoes were solid, Yorkshire puddings were stale and tough to eat. The meat was good. However, the price that was paid was over priced for what was served. I dont recommend going here unless you dont mind a long wait for not the best Sunday roast.

Very satisfied customers

I arranged a visit for a coach full of friends while we were holidaying in the area. We started with coffees and teas on arrival, followed by a guided tour, cider tasting and finally a lunch of soup and sandwiches.

Arranging the visit was easy, there was a good choice of menus to choose from which is flexible enough to work for any group, times agreed to suit our itinerary and excellent communications when making and finalising the arrangements.

Mike, our guide, informed and entertained us in equal measure with his encyclopedic knowledge of cider making, cider drinking and cider traditions. What a bonus it was to have fun and laughter along with the information and learning!

The food was all freshly prepared and delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.

Before we left we all went browsing in the shop, not only for cider - now we each knew what suited our palate best, but also to browse and buy the many other tempting goodies on display

All our group declared it a great find and I was happy to take some of the credit for choosing Sheppys where we had a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

I would recommend a visit to Sheppys Cider without hesitation.

Disappointed with the Customer Service!

Disappointed with the Customer Service!

We attended the Santa’s Grotto event last week. While the grotto itself was nicely set up and Santa was good with the kids, the experience was ruined by the quality of the gift and, more importantly, how the issue was handled.

Upon opening his present, my son received a poorly made folding snakes and ladders game. Instead of the numbers ranging from 1 to 100, the board had only half the numbers repeated on both sides due to a manufacturing error. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that gifts are likely sourced externally. However, the way this issue was handled by the business was shocking.

When I called to raise the issue, I was told I’d receive an email offering a refund. After waiting a couple days without any response, I followed up with another call. I then received an abrupt email suggesting I was wrong to follow up and should have waited for them to contact me. Worse still, the email informed me that they would no longer issue a refund as they deemed the event “satisfactory.” I strongly disagree.

Try explaining to a disappointed, tearful child why Santa gave him a broken toy! While they did offer a replacement toy, this completely missed the point. It’s not about the £15 refund—I care more about how my child felt and the lack of care shown in resolving the matter. Running a business myself, I know that if I upset a child, I would do everything in my power to make it right.

Reluctantly offering a replacement toy that I had to collect from the kiosk is not acceptable. I have decided not to accept the replacement, and I certainly will not be returning. This level of customer service is appalling and not what I would expect from an event aimed at children.

A great traditional venue with beautiful surroundings and lovely people

We were fortunate enough to have booked the barn for dinner after our daughters wedding, firstly the staff were wonderful, attentive and organised, and the food that they served was superb, great sized portions of wholesome food, (fantastic steak and ale pie)
We were allowed to use the facilities as we wished, and they were always there to help and serve

Parking

If it weren't for the fact that I am expected at a function there I would not go near. I received the most impolite response to a simple enquiry re parking. It was not appreciated. Very poor customer service in my opinion.

Easter Trail

We have been to Sheppy's numerous times but when we went for the Easter trail we were very disappointed. We had also wanted to eat there on the day, 13 of us. But despite emailing them I never received a reply. So I just booked 2 Easter trails at £8.50 each.
When we arrived we were given our boxes and paper and told to 'start at the goats.' We had no idea which way to go and couldn't find all of the letters despite splitting up and going different ways. I was told that maybe some of them had blown away!
I felt that because it was the last day of the trail, it was like no one was bothered about it. But I paid the same amount as someone doing it on the first day. The girls had a biscuit and a carton of juice in their box and they were worried they wouldn't get their prize as we couldn't find all of the letters. I said they would and we went to collect prizes where they were given.....wrapped up in paper....a kit kat. I won't be booking in next year for the trail.

Reminded not to judge a book by its cover.

Driven past loads of time - never realised what a gem was hiding behind what I judged as a run down cafe.

Thankfully had attended waassail few weeks earlier (great night bit disappointed on the food that night but tasted lovely but prefer crispy jacket spud and meaty chilli than chilli gravy!)

Called in today for drink and cake - which was amazing and wonderful welcome from staff.

Had little look around shop met the most amazing lady on the cheese counter, thank you. Felt like I was in really high end venue.

Sheppy give yourself some praise with road signs that really reflect your worth.
A high end gift will not be wrapped in cheap tatty paper - come on you deserve shiny paper and big flashy bow!

Your staff are amazing.

Friends suggested lunch at Sheppy's

Friends suggested lunch at Sheppy's; after reading your reviews I wasn't really looking forward to it - however, how wrong could I be! Prompt, polite and helpful waiting staff, (despite being two staff down), delicious meal and the cider went down very well, too!
Thank you all, I'm already looking forward to returning very soon.

Wassailing at Sheppys

You cannot find a better Wassailing than at Sheppy's Cider Farm in Taunton. Fantastically organised, historically interesting and enlightening tradition..... and the cider was excellent! Nothing like watching the Morris Men dance and joining in the barn dancing ourselves too, after singing incantations to the orchard. A great night.

Celebration of Life

I used Sheppy’s for afternoon funeral tea with a large number of people.
Have to say all went well for such a sad occasion, everyone I spoke with were pleased with the food on offer and they even happily catered for someone with gluten intolerance.
Recommend.

Horrendous service

Horrendous service - had vouchers given to me, so had to go there to use - been there 4 times - and 4 tiles horrendous service - very poor portions - customer service (don't bother), i think they need to take a trip, up the road to Rumwell cafe, may be THEN they will see how a cafe is supposed to be managed, appalling, do not bother going here, unless you ant to be disappointed....

Superb service!

We visited on a busy Saturday. The staff were friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to make our unbooked visit work. The food was amazing! I would certainly recommend Sheppy's Cider - restaurant, coffee shop and deli!
