Indistinguishable from magic

I've had poor eyesight since I was four years old, and suffered a retinal detachment five years ago which had led to cataracts. After having both of my lenses replaced here I now have 20/20 vision.

The procedure was not merely painless but entirely free of even mild discomfort. The recovery was brief and barely an inconvenience. My eyes were a bit red for a while, which couldn't matter less.

I can now see essentially perfectly without glasses, better than I could before with glasses, and couldn't be happier. Yesterday I swam in the sea, today I ran in the woods and tomorrow I'm going swordfighting. The outcome of my operation is therefore indistinguishable from magic.

I was sent away almost blind to navigate my way home

When I arrived I was greeted by a guy in a uniform who did not introduce himself and told me to follow him. He was monosyllabic at best. I asked him lots of questions about the tests he was doing and I received answers like 'just lots of tests'.

I was herded from room to room by this man who didn't tell me anything. I was asked to put my face up against lots of machines and NOT ONE OF WHICH WAS CLEANED BEFORE OR AFTER MY PUTTING MY HOT SWEATY FACE ON THEM!

The man put some drops into into my eye and said that I would have very enlarged pupils for the next 4-6 hours! I could hardly see anything the minute they went in.

I mentioned my concerns to Ms Kahn when I got to see her, and she literally smiled and ignored my comment.

I felt Ms Khan didn't give me enough information about the types of surgery, and the different options. She was pushing me to spend and extra £2500 on top of what my insurers would pay!
She didn't ask me what I thought at any time. It was all about getting me to agree to the most expensive option as quickly as possible.

When I walked out of the hospital into the bright sunlight I walked into someone as I was blinded by the bright sun and could hardly see a thing as my pupils were so dilated. I had to get myself home almost blind. I felt unsafe and nervous navigating the roads and the tubes. I did have sunglasses which I had to wear all evening until I went to bed.

Not once was I told I would leave with partial (or hardly any) sight and not once was I asked if I would be safe to travel home in this state. Luckily I had not cycled or driven to the clinic as I have no idea how I would have got home if either had been the case.

It was a horrendous experience and I will not be having my surgery with Ms Khan.
