We used to manage our share portfolio and term deposits in Excel and keep files for each share to file dividend and interest payments. Now we manage our share portfolio and term deposits in Sharesight. We have current valuations on all share prices, and we can monitor daily movements in share prices. We can see the overall performance of our portfolio by capital gains/losses, dividends & currency gains/losses. We file all supporting documents in sharesight. It also fully integrates with Xero accounting software and you just need to match the receipts to invoices generated by sharesight for all dividend payments received. Everybody in the organisation have their own login and you can set permissions for users.
Nice Features - But too expensive for occasional traders
I am using it for 3 Share Trading Accounts that have infrequent trades. See breakdown trade volumes for each entity below:
( FY 2024 Sub-Total / Total-Trades-for-All-Years)
- Personal ( 10 / 10 )
- Discretionary Trust ( 42 / 153 )
- SMSF ( 90 / 249 )
= Total (142/412)
Subsription is $588 per year.
So in FY2024 it cost me $4.15 per trade, so pretty expensive IMO.
Yes you do get Dividend details but you have to check these in and confirm. Only a handful of my shares get dividends, and for my volumes its probably easier to track these in spreadsheet anyway.
I had issues getting the bulk upload facility to work from a CSV to upload historical trades. In the end after mucking around I parked that method. I found the PDF of my CommSec Trades and emailed them through. This method was much more accurate and is what you use on an going basis to update Sharesight.
There are additional notes you can use for doing things light stock splits and Mergers and acquisitions. I've used some of there notes for those and they were ok. eg: Wesfarmers / Coles demerger.
I mainly use Sharesight to validate and check some of data against my own spreadsheets and bank statements.
I don't really use the reports much. Probably could be more useful with a date range based free format extration tool for stock transactions including dividends. ie: For upload to Excel or use with PowerBI.
For me the main benefit is as a reconciliation tool for tax, since these have to be checked against bank accounts anyway.
So I'll probably keep using it. Not much else out there that handles the integration between trades and dividend updates.
Sorry did not work download of portfolio was totally incorrect couldnt use at all
A wonderful experience so far. Simple to use, easy to find the right stock, add them to your portfolio and then add holdings. Dividends are automatically noted in advance and to track as an overall percentage of your income or reinvestment. So far, no issues at all and questions are answered quickly.
The service is a bit expensive, but there is no alternative.
Sharesight is the best tool I have found for monitoring fixed-income. All the distributions received for each investment are graphed, and overall gains are subdivided into capital gains and dividend gains. My investing has recently been focused on high-dividend or closed-funds, Sharesight works great for evaluating my return on those. I also use it to do "what if" analysis, by manually entering hypothetical trades to compare the returns.
Importing all my trades from data exported from interactive brokers took a few tries because of differences in field names and date formats, but once improrted, the automated syncing using a secure token has worked without a hitch.
I've had a couple of interactions with the development team, and they are very responsive. Aside from a few import difficulties and some features related to closed-end funds (somewhat of a niche investing segment) that I would like to have, it has been a perfect tool for my needs.
Good I know it's only two days
I am looking good Will watch more
Piumi was proactive and helpful above and beyond what I have come to expect from online help services.

I needed help to rectify a mistake on my part and Gihan help me sort that with no fuss or bother. Great work.
Excellent Support. Sharesight can integrate with many platforms, very convenient.
It tracks everything, gives me a clear picture of my performance, and their customer support is top-notch. Highly recommended!
Really useful tools for tracking my stock market portfolio, giving me a clear overview of my portfolio performance metrics. Easy also to upload trades from my broker. Really love the dividend reports as it gives me a list of future dividends in one place.
Free Sharesight: Still Great
I have been using the free share sight for a little while now and it works great!
Does the basic tracking, but it's clunky and slow.
I've now found other trackers which do more, for less cost, much faster.
As a Financial Adviser, I understand and appreciate the need for good record keeping and real-time portfolio valuations. I use Sharesight personally and recommend it to my clients.
With a fair amount of manual checking, it does the job, but it's become downright expensive from when I joined!
I've used Sharesight to track my dividends from Singapore stocks. The team was very responsive in helping me with stock tickers and dividend payouts. I hope that there will be bonds in the near future.
It's clunky. You will have to enter or correct many entries all throughout the program. It does not handle dividends very well and it completely does not transfer over Options in any way.
Very old feeling, makes work when so much of it could be automated.
It doesn't give me the ability to modify the dashboard/overview in any way. It forces grouping by the exchange - which I could care less which exchange the symbol is traded in tracking gains.
Sharesight is great for managing complex portfolios. It makes a huge difference at tax time. Managing AMIT payments can be very challenging but the people at Sharesight have put in the hard work to make it easy for the user. Great program.
