Deeply Unethical, Emotionally Harmful, and Legally Questionable – A Warning About ShapeBy
ShapeBy presents itself as a modern, inclusive clinic offering high-end treatments made “attainable” through subscription services. But behind the polished marketing lies a system that, in my opinion—and in the opinion of multiple lawyers now involved—is exploitative, negligent, and emotionally harmful.
Over several visits, I experienced repeated misgendering, classist remarks, and was told I likely couldn’t afford their services—despite having already paid in full. I was also told that in my early 40s, I was “too far gone” for any non-surgical treatment to work and should “save up for a cheap facelift in Turkey.” Imagine hearing that after walking in for advice and care.
Only one of my visits was remotely positive—and even that was tainted at the reception desk.
Two individuals stand out as particularly unprofessional and harmful: Dr. Neha, the clinic’s founder, and Oliver Majed, whose dismissive attitude left lasting emotional damage. While the company promotes diversity, the treatment I received makes this claim feel performative. If you understand Swedish, even better than you speak it, you quickly pick up on the tone behind the facade.
Dr. Neha herself admitted to me that the company has taken on more subscription clients than it has staff to support, and that she is unable to oversee quality across Stockholm and Gothenburg. Despite this, they continue to sell packages aggressively. Subscribed clients are often left without access to treatment for months while still paying monthly fees. It’s a system that preys on insecurity and delays fulfillment. She told me how burnt out and stressed she was with two small children to clinics and so many members of her close family and friends been reliant on her. She basically used what is commonly known as gaslighting to make me the affected. Patient get what could not be described better than “Stockholm syndrome” . She made me believe that she needed more care than I did and I ended up sending her care packages. After thinking me for that having asked to please meet me in real life. She went ahead and ghosted me. That’s the caliber of people you’re dealing with. There’s something remarkably serpentine about how gracefully she navigates “ loyalty “.
Worse still, they prescribe potent medication remotely, with no physical check-up, no weighing, and no blood work. These medications can have serious side effects, and discontinuing them could be harmful —a behavior legal experts have flagged as highly questionable, particularly under Swedish healthcare regulations. But specially under European Union laws.
I’ve now engaged legal counsel, and I’m aware that other clients have done the same. My case has been referred to relevant Swedish authorities, and while it’s still early, both medical ethics and consumer protections are at the heart of what is now being reviewed.
ShapeBy is not what it pretends to be. They are not innovators—they are just another clinic profiting from your insecurities. Don’t be fooled by the luxury branding. Don’t mistake marketing for medicine. And most importantly, don’t let them make you feel like you’re the problem. Or that they are the best and most sought after aesthetic clincs in Sweden. Is all smoke and fake mirrors. Please believe me.
