The ultimate irony: a "reputation management" company that destroys its own reputation
I was hired through Upwork by this reputation management company to help them win a new client. I completed every task they assigned, on time and to a high standard. They never paid me a cent.
Not a delayed payment. Not a dispute. Just spinning lines and zero payment after I delivered the work. In my experience, this was nothing short of theft of my time, skills, and effort. As a freelancer, I expect shady operators on freelance platforms, but I never expected it from a company whose entire business is supposedly about protecting and building trust.
The worst part? In their careless scramble to impress this prospective client (an assisted living organization), they gave me full, unrestricted access to the personal information and contact details of elderly residents and their prospects. These are vulnerable seniors in assisted living facilities — people who deserve the highest level of privacy and protection. Handing a contractor complete access to that data without proper safeguards or even a signed contract in place was not just sloppy. It was reckless, disrespectful, and genuinely appalling.
A reputation management company that can’t pay its own vendors, can’t handle sensitive client data responsibly, and treats both freelancers and vulnerable elderly people as disposable tools in a sales pitch? The hypocrisy is staggering.
Freelancers: avoid these people like the plague.
Potential clients: if they treat the people helping them this badly, imagine how they’ll treat you and your customers once they have your business.
I wish I could give Zero stars, but Zero trust. Zero chance I’d ever recommend them to anyone.
