Truly awful
Truly awful. Took more than 2hours queuing at passport control so missed connecting flight, along with dozens of other people. No organisation, no communication, no level of concern. Awful.
Connecting flight malaga- schipol-…
Hard to believe that this airport belongs to one of the most developed countries when the infrastructure, facililties and the attitudes of some personals working at this airport will make you feel like you have flown right back in the 90s in the third world.
Arrived terminal 1 with 3 hrs layover.. without the possibility of having checking in online and hence no boarding pass. No help counters, just staffs boarding their passengers not assigned to help in need.
Had the worse experience when an incompetent staffs at gate belittled and disrespect to such an extent thay me thai felt violated and traumatized by the whole episode..
At this old congested and confusing terminal ,one has to walk several stairs down to the toilet and no elevator on sight! Inconvenience is an understatement for disabled people.
Food selection was limited and shockingly expensive even for us from Norway! with no free drinking water available . Cheapest water is 5 euro and you can just imagine the amount spent on water while on transit . No decent meals.
Limited seating place where one one can charge devices.
I can say I will not be traveling nor transiting at schipol any time soon in the future.

Less than 1 star - negative stars!!
From landing it took just over 3 hours to get out of the airport. Non EU passport - the biometric system queue was a joke and non moving - passport control was a joke - herded in and the slowest moving queue I’ve seen. We landed at 10am and were in a taxi at 1.30 - stressful and hot and no options for water - no information at all - no announcements regarding the wait……. Would definitely put me off visiting again.

Horrendous 2.5 hour queue when we arrived at passport control. Chaotic and disorganised with some people missing connections. Really bad for an international airport of this size.
Yet again terrible passport queue
Yet again terrible passport queue. Flown in from Glasgow, UK. Waited over an hour in passport queue. Schiphol is consistently disappointing, it hasn’t operated good for so long now and means flying in for business is risky.
Terrible passport experience
Schiphol constantly fails at the most basic process of passport control. It has no capability for non-European passports apart from two bored and slow officers working through a line of a hundred. Even the smallest of lines cause significant delays. Avoid this airport if at all possible.
Very confusing airport while transfer
Very confusing airport while transfer , I almost lost my flight . Nobody around to help and the signs mostly confuse u instead of helping . 1 star cause there is no zero!
Non EU passport holders expect to wait…
Non EU passport holders expect to wait quite a while passing through Amsterdam Schiphol airports security (we waited nearly 2 hours). It’s not brilliant ☹️
Do not travel/transfer through Schiphol
Do not travel/transfer through Schiphol.
I-SEC Netherlands contractor for Security and Immigration at Schiphol treat white people like trash!
Fast-tracking reams of stupid immigrants into your queue in front of you whilst your transfer is late because of airport delays. To prioritise their onward boarding. This happened every year I travelled there.
Witnessing how I-SEC treat young passenger girls in security check, forcing them to unpack their underwear in front of everyone, to pull them up about carrying an unsealed duty-free slice of cheese bought overseas!
They did this to us as well, with sealed duty free items, no receipt in the bag, had to throw away curious from South Africa. Fortunately not valuable.
They are rude, disrespectful, arrogant, abrupt, nasty. I'm yet to take one elderly I-SEC contractor dutch male individual outside to teach him a long-delayed lesson in humanity.
Then the airport shuttle vehicles. Blasting their at horns to chase you out the way, traveling at speed through the busy throngs of people. The number of them are staggering and a nuisance. It's like trying to traverse a race track filled with people and fast shuttle cars.
The final straw was when our travel insured jewellery was stolen off my wife's wrist in the filthy toilets. Reported incident. No action. I warned her not to wear such items in travel.
Positives: the shops are nice, the Irish pub is a welcome respite, and the KLM staff are always lovely.
It should be certified as the worst…
It should be certified as the worst airport in Northern Europe at least.. Waiting even two hours most of the times to pick up the luggage from the belts, changes belts even in last minute without prior notice, insufficient stuff etc..Should I also mention how expensive it is ? Probably the most...And nothing seems to be altered so far...
The most ineffective airport ever.
The most ineffective airport ever.
The worst you can visit I by far.
high taxes and very expensive
Please avoid.
There is also no service to help you out
Terrible airport for anyone with…
Terrible airport for anyone with disabilities especially Stomas. Incredibly slow security, confusing messaging shoes on or not, so slow ended up having a bag leak. Which then meant i had to go back to check in for the toilets and start the whole process again, after fighting to get my Stoma supplies back which had gone through the scanner. Staff unfreindly and unhelpful. Has always been slow but now it is best to complwtely avoid...
Schiphol security/passport control treat you like you are subhuman
Schiphol security/passport control treat you like you are subhuman. I have travelled through Schiphol Airport countless times over the past decade, and I dread this part of the travel experience every time. Yesterday I ended up getting separated from my husband as my UK passport didn't work in the scanner but his EU passport did. Note- him and I were the only people in the area at that point as it was very quiet. Despite that, I had 3 different groups of Schiphol employees shouting at me, telling me to do different things. A security employee near the office (to the right of passport control) was aggressive and patronising towards me. He ordered me to the passport control on his side, though the security employees at the scanners were about to let me through with my husband to manually check my passport. The entire situation and the way I was treated made me very overwhelmed and - as usual - dreading my next trip to Schiphol.
Most disappointing business class experience at the baggage drop-off counter and boarding gate at Amsterdam Schiphol / Turkish Airlines.
On the 21st 2025 of December my wife and I went to drop off our suitcase at the business class counter of Turkish Airlines at Schiphol.
Straight from the arrival the experience was chaotic and confusing, as economy line passenger were using the same counter as the business class passengers. Also to add to this disappointment, the ladies behind the counter at the Turkish Airlines were not assertive in any way or any bit, to try and control the lines of passengers, moving left and right.
These ladies seemed more amused to be having their own chat with each other, neglecting the business class passengers who were waiting extra unnecessary time because of their need to have a loverly chat with themselves. These are unmotivated employees working at the baggage drop off counter.
This definitely does not represent the quality and service one would come to expect from a business class drop of counter at one of the busiest airports in Europe, and certainly a very unacceptable service experience when flying Turkish Airlines business class.
Also before boarding the airplane, the process was very chaotic and passengers were hastily making their way towards the gate to enter the airplane. There was no clear line to indicate where business class passengers had to wait and where economy passengers were supposed to stand and wait, nor was this announced via the intercom, which does normally happen when flying KLM. Due to this confusion, passengers were jumping the line, and again the employees at the boarding gate did not sort this out. Instead, they were busy talking to each other and laughing at their own jokes. Not taking care at all of the matters which were unfolding before them.
This was truly a despicable experience from the baggage drop of to the boarding of the aircraft. And truly unacceptable.
Due to this experience, I advise business class passengers of Turkish Airlines to avoid flying from Amsterdam. The service at Amsterdam airport is worthless, and the employees serving the business class passengers at Amsterdam Schiphol airport prove to suffer inadequate knowledge nor experience in knowing how to offer proper service to passengers.
What a nigtmare airport
What a nigtmare airport. Takes 36 minutes to get luggage and then still delayed. It goes faster to fly here from sweden. Embarrassing
There are mice everywhere......
There are mice present everywhere in the restaurants. KLM flights are almost never on time. Its expensive to eat and drink. Not much place to sit to be honest.
Schiphol is a dump.

We arrived before the suggested time to head home and waited 2 hours in line to get to security. The line system is an absolute joke, they picked out a random bunch of people to go to one area then made the rest still continue to line up a longer snake like line. We were going to miss our flight (after wasting so much time behind people who were flying hours after us for example the girls infront had a 3hr delay) and we told this to a staff member and all he said was “your nearly there” we waited another 15 minutes and luckily our flight got delayed a couple minutes. To then have to wait in other lines after to scan your passport but luckily yet again our flight got delayed another ten minutes, it was infuriating that this man knew there was more ques and couldn’t of even helped. We mentioned our flight to another worker in the other que and yet again pure lack of empathy. In Belfast they call any remaining passengers for flights out of the goodness of their hearts but Amsterdam lacks that. The staff wouldnt even help a mother and two kids make their way through the line quicker they shrugged it off luckily enough people in the que let them infront. Do better, especially the baldy one at the security line!
Terrible management
I believe it is finally time for the airport’s poor management to be replaced. I have been stranded for three days and am unable to return to Amsterdam due to what is being described as “extreme weather conditions,” caused by just 3 cm of snow. As a result, it has been impossible to reach Amsterdam by either plane or train.
Furthermore, it has been impossible to contact either the airport authorities or KLM customer service. Passengers have been advised not to go to the airport, leaving them without any meaningful assistance or guidance.
These problems have been recurring over the past three years, with numerous flight cancellations and delays. However, having operations completely disrupted by such a small amount of snow is both ridiculous and unacceptable. This reflects a total lack of professionalism and a serious disrespect toward passengers.
To make matters worse, public statements from those responsible indicate that investing in proper equipment for so-called “extreme” weather conditions is considered too expensive, despite such conditions occurring every few years. This position is unacceptable for a major international airport.
Terrible!!!!!
Worst airport experience ever.
Worst airport experience ever.
Our flight was canceled because of just 3 inches of snow. Reclaiming our luggage was an absolute nightmare. Despite multiple flights being canceled, the airport had only one office open for baggage reclaim.
The process was extremely slow, poorly managed, and frustrating. Staff were rude, unhelpful, and showed no urgency or empathy toward passengers who were already stressed. This level of service is unacceptable for an airport.
Overall, a terrible experience due to lazy operations and poor customer service
