Horrendous customer service!

This morning I contacted the dealer and enquired about a vehicle. I was told that it was still available and mine if I wanted it. I specifically asked what I needed to do next and was told to just sort the finance and they'd do the rest.

I got onto the AA, approved the loan and when the AA contacted the dealer they were informed that the car had been sold. Apparently it had taken too long so they sold it to someone else. As the AA finance said, they couldn't have sorted it any quicker, literally a couple of hours.

They only issue is, if I don't find another vehicle within a week that will be another hard search into my credit score, affecting my score with unnecessary searches not to mention the couple of hours deciding on a vehicle and then going through the application process for nothing so be very careful when looking into finance with the intention of buying from Samy's car sales LTD.

I am taking this as a lucky escape now because had there been an issue down the line with the vehicle, if this is the standard of their customer service.... dread to think what they're after sales service is like.

Please take care people.

I had a rather interesting experience…

I had a rather interesting experience with them and I’m not sure that I would go back unfortunately.
I recently purchased a Ford Ranger which was just over a year old, in the lead up to the sale I was messaging the owner on WhatsApp, I had sent them details for my part exchange including photos And I had an agreed price with them given to me by the owner. We had agreed a day and approximate time for me to come up and pick up the car I was travelling over 300 miles to come and get the car So I was expecting everything to be ready and for me not to have to hang around for a long period of time as I had a substantial journey back. The day before I was going up I decided at my own cost to get my part exchange valeted and polished to save the amount of work they would have to do on the part exchanges they’re giving me a very fair price.

On the day I kept them informed on progress on my journey up because of bad traffic I have told them that I would be arriving around 4:00 PM, On Arrival nobody came out to meet me and everyone looked rather confused. I went to go and present myself to a salesman who went to go and find the keys to the vehicle While he was looking for the keys the owner came out to present himself and unfortunately he had to go out He seemed to know exactly who I was and what I was there for which was nice and said sadly he had to go to the airport to pick up a friend and therefore wasn’t able to be there. I acknowledge this and said yes that’s fine and he introduced his salesman that had since come back with the keys and instructed him on what he needed to do.

I had a quick look around the car and was overall happy with it was well presented although the interior could have done with a valet and considering they knew I was coming to get the car I would have assumed this would have been done. Next up the salesman insists we go for a drive which is what we did, on return he then seemed to know nothing about the part exchange and was shocked that there even was a part exchange.

Discussions had already taken place that my car was a previous cat N and that have been professionally repaired, and as far as I was aware the deal had been agreed by the owner and the salesman have been instructed on what to do – Next Followed 45 minute delay which effectively was the salesman wishing to drive the vehicle and then look around the car And then spent a further 30 minutes after that messaging the owner (I showed the salesman Whatsapp messages from the owner stating exactly what the price should be). After the endless faffing it was nearing time for them to close and I really wanted to get back on the road, We then spent the next 30 minutes for him trying to work out what costs to put on the invoice Which really just needed to be the purchase value - The value of the px (after all I do not believe this is rocket science), with support of his colleague he then managed to do so. At this point he started arguing with me at the fact the car only had one key as the other key that had been supplied to me didn’t work and looked like it belonged perhaps to a different car. I had already informed the owner that it only had one key as I didn’t believe there was another key for it. He then continued to charge me £200 for a key for the vehicle as he said they couldn’t possibly sell the car with only 1 key. I reluctantly agreed to this as time was pushing and I had been there for so long now I just wanted to get going. I then paid for the vehicle and rather annoyed drove away.

The whole time I was there they could have had validated the car to make up for the fact that I have been left at this point for several hours for something that just shouldn’t have taken more than 45 minutes. The staff were literally clueless about what was going on and the whole thing came across like a big joke rather than a sale. After all when you are spending over 40K on a vehicle you expect a certain level of service that I just didn’t feel I received. I also noted that where most dealers would service a vehicle before it goes out They did not And only two months after spending that sort of money I had to service the car. Whilst these things like valeting and servicing aren’t the biggest problem, if you mix those issues with frankly joke service I received and then on top of that be charged for a key which by the way the car is now on sale and they haven’t got another key for makes the whole thing shoddy and not worth spending your money with them.

If they had an ounce of decency they would have refunded the key cost and paid for a cheap ballot somewhere to make up for the fact that nobody knew what was going on. It felt like a “Where’s Wally” scene with no “Wally” in the picture. Overall disappointment.
I have to say that the owner was very nice and I’m sure if you dealt with him you would have a completely different experience, and it’s also worth noting that the car was excellent too.
