I recently engaged with Sam Laurence…
I recently engaged with Sam Laurence for a personalised coaching programme to improve my dietary habits and aid in weight loss. Initially, Sam sought a partnership with my directory/concierge business but later persuaded me to become a client for his coaching services. The agreed-upon term was a four-month programme at £1,800.
I proposed a payment schedule to accommodate my cash flow, paying month by month. However, Sam insisted on an upfront payment for the first two months, with the third and fourth month’s payment due at the end of the first month. I reluctantly agreed to this. Yet, as we neared the second month (which was already paid for), I experienced a slight delay in payment for the remaining two months due to a late payment from one of my clients. I communicated this to Sam, hoping for some understanding and flexibility given the circumstances.
Regrettably, Sam's demeanour shifted drastically from being a motivational coach to being solely money-focused. He refused to continue with the coaching until the complete payment for the remaining months was made, despite the second month being already covered. His unwillingness to provide any leniency or comprehend my situation, especially in these challenging times, was disheartening. The communication thereafter centred solely around payment, which felt quite unprofessional and lacking in empathy.
In light of this experience, I find it hard to recommend Sam Laurence Coaching. The financial rigidity and lack of understanding significantly soured my experience with Sam Laurence. While the coaching industry may require certain financial commitments upfront, a level of understanding and a client-centric approach are equally vital for fostering a positive client-coach relationship.
This account reflects my experience, and I believe potential clients should be cognizant of the financial rigidity and lack of understanding I encountered before deciding to engage with Sam Laurence Coaching.
