1. The coffee machine in the room kept malfunctioning.
2. The towel in the bathroom was frayed and old.
3. The seat at the writing desk had white marks over it.
4. The windows had greasy finger marks visible over them.
5. The only full length mirror was blocked by heavy furniture.
6. The small phone charging point beside the bed did not charge.
7. Marks on the carpet, scuffs on the divan base and on the writing desk highly visible stains and marks.
8. Furnitur is showing signs of wear and tear, the glass surfaces of the bedside table are tired and paint is peeling off the surround.

In the gym
9. A very grubby and stained water dispenser, appears disconnected.
10. No water is available for guests in the gym.
11. Damaged carpet on the floor with serious staining.
12. The gym is cramped, not very clean and an absence of diffusers. Given this is a spa hotel it's shocking neglect.

Clocktower Restaurant
13. 4 small half slices of sourdough bread £5.50 - seriously.
14. 1 very small bowl of olives £7.50 - seriously?
My husband said the smoked salmon was tasteless and it came without bread/toast.
15. I had intended to have the Whitby Fish & Triple Cooked Chips. I enquired about the fish and was told it was cod. I asked if Haddock was available and it wasn't.
16. My husband wanted to order the Veal Schnitzel and was told that they'd run out. This was 7pm and first service.
17. My main was salmon en croute. The pastry was soggy, the fish tasteless and the new potatoes seriously under cooked. I returned my meal.
18. My husband chose roast chicken which arrived in a heavily stained container and food was smeared underneath and around the outside. Portion was very small.

General
19. I had booked through Booking.com and messaged the hotel in order to have a chosen wine in the room for when we arrived. It was a milestone birthday. The hotel sent a link that was not a wine list. I messaged back but received no response. I just gave up.

20. I met with the duty manager and a senior staff member (female) at the end of our one night. The bill was £551.95. I explained my unhappiness and that I would review our experience. The female staff member accused me of attempting to shame the hotel and of being negative. I said I was being honest as would my review be.

The duty manager asked me to email my issues, which I did. I have never received a response of acknowledgement of my concerns.

We left feeling incredibly unhappy. A waste of time and money.

We stayed this week. The hotel is immaculately presented, in spite of the fact that refurbishment was being completed to reception. The staff, without exception, are curious and very attentive, my definition of great service.

The room was spacious and very well presented. The food was exception.

Overall 5 stars isn't enough.

We booked a room but unfortunately one of the guests had Covid just before arrival. We contacted the hotel in advance to ask to amend the date. This was refused, and the response implied we could still attend if we wanted — which felt highly irresponsible toward other guests.

After further back and forth, the hotel eventually agreed to a partial credit of £295 toward a future stay, which was already significantly less than the original booking value.

When we later followed up to ask how to redeem this credit, we were told it was no longer available because we hadn’t explicitly replied to “accept” it before the arrival date — despite having raised the issue in advance. A remarkable and disappointing position from a hotel of this standing.

I'm sure this is just poor decision by untrained staff member - will update if anything changes.

And returning to our room after lunch, we were welcomed with a gift of Prosecco,delicious boiled sweets and a card, with love, from Julia and her team. This made our 60th birthdays extra special. Thank you to all at the clock tower.

Another birthday spent at the beautiful Rudding Park Hotel and Spa! We loved our stay. As always, the food was excellent (highly recommend the chateaubriand). The spa facilities are so luxurious and our favourite to visit. The room and personal touches made our stay even more special and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. This time we also did a round of golf and the driving range which we very much enjoyed. We are already planning our next visit!

Spa afternoon was lovely. Quite busy but each and every staff member made us feel welcome and always with a happy cheery manner. Biggest thanks to Chelsey and Emma who did our body polish treatment. Me and my husband had one in the same room with both of you..husband was snoring which made me laugh.. really lovely . For little people U sure have some power behind u to give us both the best treatment. Thank U!

Thank you for your reply to my recent review but I must point out the certainly one of the two other dogs {not and assistance dog} was walking about your hotel in both rooms of the corridor we were seated in and did so a couple of times before heading off down the way past the toilets. Sorry to point it out for information.

Stayed numerous times at this beautiful hotel, the last been in November, had an amazing collagen facial done by Ellie and it was probably the best I've ever had😊 Food was great, service was exceptional nothing too much trouble!

Lunch at The Clock Tower restaurant was totally delicious. Highly recommend the Xmas menu. Cauliflower soup looked thick but it was so light and flavoursome, sea bass cooked to perfection, and the chocolate and salted caramel mousse with fudge bits and honeycomb was absolutely amazing. Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Thank you

Wedding anniversay visit to Rudding Park Hotel and Spa and once again a fabulous stay we had.
Service and staff is as always second to none and the staff all go out of their way to give eye contact and say hello, or goodbye etc.
Food was amazing , we dined at Horto for a change and food was delicious, fresh tasty ingredients and great service in the restaurtant too.
Spa as always clean, tidy and lovely atmosphere.
We did the NYE house party last year and have now booked again for seeing 2025 , I would highly recommend to anyone.

I wish all hotels gave you the same welcome as we have just received at Rudding Park.
We were greeted by Francis who could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. He made us feel so special and nothing has been too much trouble.
He was so professional and obviously passionate about his job.
If all hotels had someone like Francis then their customer service would be outstanding. We will definitely return to Rudding Park and hopefully he will look after us again. Thank you

POOR TABLE SERVICE RECEIVED .
We booked Sunday Lunch in the Clock Tower Restaurant . The greeting from a staff member was fine and we were escorted to a corner table in the restaurant . The drinks were ordered and delivered and shortly afterwards our meal order was taken . After a period of 25 minutes the meal was served but we had to request serving spoons for the vegetables. The first meal course was consumed but there was no member of staff attending our table and after 30 minutes we eventually spotted a staff member and was able to order our desserts . After a further long wait we reminded a further staff member that we were still awaiting the dessert delivery . The desserts duly arrived after a period of 10 minutes and we decided to order coffees which arrived not hot . The Sunday Lunch was fine but spoilt by the lack of service attention by the 5 members of staff and the restaurant supervision was not evident .

As always Rudding park exceeded our expectations, always delivering the best and not missing the attention to detail. The new grounds look incredible and the spa was a delight as always. As a family we have been visiting the hotel for more than 5 years in all capacities, our most recent visit was for The Great Yorkshire Show and it did not disappoint. The staff at the hotel as always so attentive and catered to all requests big or small with no hesitation. We visit as a couple with work and with the kids and it's equally as enjoyable. a special shoutout to to the young guys serving breakfast and the wonderful spa team 🤌🏼

Really liked Rudding Park. The grounds are impressive, and the hotel is tastefully decorated beautifully. Nice furniture. And the spa.. just relaxation :-)

An amazing stay with exceptional service. The rooms were spacious with great facilities,panoramic views and large comfortable beds.

Evening Rooftop Spa and DIne -
We have been to Rudding many times, we live close by and see it as an opportunity for a treat. My husband booked this for us (me) as a treat for Mothers Day. We know the facilities and they are amazing. But the staff - goodness me - it was like they were doing us a favour! Upon arrival they were nice, different story in the evening. You try to understand that they must be tired, been on their feet all day but my goodness someone needs to send them on a course in social skills and customer service. In the restaurant there was a particular member of staff that was aloof, again very much the attitude that she was looking down at us. She forgot our drinks but did quickly rectify the problem. Sadly the food wasn’t amazing although it sounded so on the menu, I had monkfish kebabs and they were over seasoned when they arrived. The worst part of the evening was yet to come. We went to check out at the main reception area and the member of staff “Harriet” made an error on our bill, my husband queried it and she gave a ‘gobbledegook’ answer but not once looked up and made eye contact or said, ‘I’m so sorry for your wait / my error / system error’ she could have said anything really to explain but she did not even lift her head. It felt like WE were the problem. I’m retired now from working in retail/service industry for 25 years. These girls need to be swooped up and put on a course in customer service. It feels like this generation need to learn how to interact with their clients more. I will say there was one young girl who was lovely, her name escapes me. She was a woman of colour and she was fabulous. !!

Awful experience after going for their supper and spa package. Was charged for a couples massage that we didn’t even have. It took 15 different calls after being constantly passed on to someone else, constantly being told I would receive a call back, but never would. I would then have to call again just to chase up. I finally got told they were issuing my refund after ‘looking into it’ 15 phone calls later. Was told to wait 5 working days but two weeks later STILL nothing. Rang again today to be told a manager was calling me back and once again NOTHING. I am so appalled. We regularly used to visit this hotel and have spent a lot of money over the years here. No one should have to call and beg for their own money back!

We recently stayed at Rudding Park. Or room was very spacious, well equipped and clean. The facilities at the hotel are great. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. There is a well equipped gym. The Clocktower restaurant was very enjoyable. The staff were very attentive, helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was well presented and very tasty. Matthew in Customer Relations is a great ambassador for Rudding Park and helped us to resolve a couple of issues. We visited York and Harrogate during our stay and Rudding Park is well located for both. We will visit this great venue again. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Brilliant hotel, my daughter loved the Spa and swimming pool. We will come back real soon.

What a positive attitude of staff in the Clocktower bar,lounge,restaurant ! What a tremendous atmosphere ! Nothing was too much trouble
