20 days has past, Roomlala charged me 400 euros for nothing

Total scam: I lost 400 euros because of them.

The host never told me where the house was and said he wasn’t available.

I asked for a refund, but so far, I’ve received no answer from Roomlala.

This was almost a month ago.

I had to find another place through a different website, which cost me both time and money.

Roomlala has been completely unresponsive. They didn’t even send me an email to explain why they charged me the full amount for a place where the host clearly wasn’t accepting anyone.

It was my first time using Roomlala, they took 400 euros from me, and forgot about me.

Don't Steal !

Roomlala took my money, 359 euros, for a 2 week stay in Paris in December 2024.
At the Riga airport, the boarding was denied due to the wrong format of the suitcase. Roomlala sent my money to the landlady while their tenants are not covered by any insurance and practically have no legal rights.
It was not my fault that I did not arrive at the property on that day, as it had been planned.
As a result, I had to pay twice as much and share with 8 people.
It's nice to travel and make discoveries but please pay me my money back and don't steal It next time !

However, as indicated by e-mail to the support department, we are unable to refund the rent paid to the hostess. In fact, no cancellation was made on your part on the day of your arrival, and no dispute was declared within the specified timeframe.

As a reminder, if you encounter a problem on the day of your scheduled arrival, you have until midday the day after your arrival to declare a dispute online: the rent is then blocked. We will then reimburse the tenant if the reason for the dispute allows us to reimburse you.

I explained the uncertainty of my…

I explained the uncertainty of my situation to the landlord right from the day I made the booking. Barely two weeks after my visa result came out, I discovered that my visa application had been refused. I discussed this with the landlord, reminding him that I had informed him of the uncertainty earlier, and asked for his help in canceling the booking so I could get a refund. However, he suddenly started ignoring my messages.

I contacted Roomlala, but they are telling me there is nothing they can do. This is unfair to customers. Something needs to be done. Roomlala was referred to me by Campus France, and I trusted this company because I was certain they would treat students fairly, especially in situations where a student visa is refused. Booking accommodations ahead of time is compulsory for a visa application, and it is unfair for me to lose my money, especially when I have proof that I informed the landlord about the uncertainty from the beginning.

I need my money refunded, please.

We're sorry, but as explained above and in our terms and conditions, Roomlala does not issue certificates of accommodation or welcome. These documents are provided by the host if he accepts, but it is up to him to decide. After payment of a reservation, Roomlala issues a confirmation of payment, but no other documents. The rental contract is also provided by the host, but it's not obligatory either. It's up to them to decide, and these documents are usually provided when you arrive at the accommodation.

We are sorry that you were unable to obtain the VISA. In this case, if you wish to cancel a booking free of charge, it is up to the accommodation provider to cancel the booking directly from their personal space.
Otherwise, we're sorry, but we can't cancel the booking for him, without his agreement, as we are contractually committed to paying him the rent in the event of cancellation by the tenant.
This is clearly stated in our conditions of use.

Roomlala called me a liar and they censor bad reviews. Please don't go to old people, they can’t clean anymore !!!

First of all, we are very sorry that the booking did not go as you would have wished.

After checking, you did not declare any dispute when you arrived in the accommodation, and we did not receive any report from you throughout your reservation.

Furthermore, we have never questioned your word or your testimony. It's just that the hostess in question has always received excellent reviews from previous tenants. And for your information, we do not delete user reviews unless they contain racist, discriminatory or defamatory remarks.

As a reminder, when you arrive at an accommodation and it doesn't match the listing, you can report a dispute from your Roomlala mailbox until midday the day after your scheduled arrival. If it turns out that the accommodation does not comply with the advert, or is unfit for habitation, we will refund the full amount of the reservation.

If you have not declared a dispute but are not satisfied with the accommodation conditions afterwards, you can always contact us by e-mail at support@roomlala.com, throughout your booking. We will then contact the accommodation provider to discuss the terms and conditions directly with them.

In your case, you did not declare any dispute online, and you never contacted our services afterwards so that we could intervene with the host in question.

Roomlala protects scammers

I rented a nice room. But the landlord scammed me and refused to give back my security deposit. I wrote Roomlala support, they said they can't do anything about the deposit but they will ban the landlord from the website.
But the landlord was able to just create a new account and continue to rent his room. I reported it again but roomlala is not doing anything about it. So they just let scummy landlords be on their website with their full knowledge and won't do enough to protect renters

Update after answer from roomlala: The landlord is still on your website, you didn't delete his new profile

Hello,

We are very sorry that you have had a bad experience with one of our hosts.

In addition, we would like to point out to all our guests that when you are asked to pay a security deposit, it is important that the amount of the deposit is specified in a rental contract, which also sets out the conditions under which the deposit will be returned.
We also warn all renters never to pay any money to an accommodation provider who asks you to do so off-site before your arrival and without signing a contract, as we have no control over off-site transactions.
If all these conditions are met, and the host refuses to return the deposit, you can take legal action against them.

As far as the host in question is concerned, his account was indeed deleted after your warning.

As explained in your previous exchanges with support, the landlord in question simply did not respect our conditions, but it may not have been a scam. As a precaution, we offered to cancel the booking and refund you in full. We then deleted the landlord's account, again as a precaution. If a landlord doesn't respect our rules, we don't want to take any risks.

Your comment isn't very fair, given what we've put in place on the site to prevent scams. For the record, there are no scams on the site, and you'll see that there are no comments from our users testifying to this.

What's more, you've received a full refund. If only you hadn't received the refund, but you did.

Great accomodations in an excellent location

A superb location within walking distance of major tourist attractions, as well as metro stations; a quiet apartment in a lively neighborhood. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and the quality of the accomodations and Carole is a wonderful hostess, very friendly and helpful.

I booked a house on this site and after…

I booked a house on this site and after booking, Initial amount was 672 euros. The owner of the house asked me to pay 1900 euros in advance before my arrival. I did not accept and according to the rules of the site, I should have paid this fee after receiving the key. After a few days and constant follow-up, my request was canceled, but they deducted 112 euros from me. Why? Did I cancel the request? Why should 112 euros be deducted from me?
