Written by the company

Rebel Badge Club started as a single badge book - an idea during lockdown - with 52 badges. Three years later, it's evolved into 3 volumes of books, monthly, quarterly and annual challenges, stickers, journals, clothing, events and much more. The group gets likened to 'Brownies for adults' but it's for anyone and everyone over the age of 18. The books are designed expecting most people to do 10-15 out of the selection of 52 badges, with most merit badges taking around 3 months to complete. Rebel Badge Club is a trading name of Charly Lester Ltd.

Where's Wallys racing around…

60 plus Where's Wallys racing around Cardiff was a sight to behold! Having never been to Cardiff, this was an excellent way to sightsee. As with all of the Rebel Badge Club events I met lots of new people, spent lots of time outdoors, experienced new things and above all else had lots of fun doing it!

Rebel Badge Club brings so much nostalgia from my Brownie and Guide days and gives me the opportunity to experience new and exciting things.

Having suffered a traumatic event, Rebel Badge Club really has aided my recovery, I work through badges at home to keep my mind busy, and I join events which are accessible to all and allows me the opportunity to take part in fun and games whilst also feeling safe.
Thankyou!

Finally a chance to say what I think of RBC

A gathering of 60 fellow Rebels in Reading. What a fantastic day, Disco Yoga, Beautician, Car Maintenance, Mandala Stone Painting and Fondant Icing Sculpture making.
An absolute hoot, the most diverse group of women and men you could ever meet and get along with.
I joined in 2022 aged 60 to help with my mental health issues and this is exactly what I needed. There's no pressure to do everything that's arranged by Charly and the Council, which is just as well as there's so much going on every year. How Charly has enough hours in a day to plan, prepare these activities and badges is beyond me as well as doing her full time job. Summer Camp last year was so amazing, who knew I'd enjoy camping in a tent after my last time in 2001 when my kids were young. Absailing, 3G Swing (never again!), Survival skills, Kart racing & so much more.
In the next 3 months I'm going to do Monopoly runs in Cambs, London & York, I cannot wait to see who my team members will be. There's members based all over the world who share tips, ideas, discussions on badges, how we all go about putting in the work to earn them. There's something for everyone, all genders, all abilities, all walks of life. Give it a go.

All hail the Wizard Wally..

All hail the Wizard Wally... says the Red Dragon of the Secret Garden... lol and other mad stuff I get myself roped into at 3am... The Rebel Badge Club is awesome, Charly is only human and she's called upon 24/7. I have discovered a lot about myself with the self awareness badges... that i have no personality as it's ADHD... LOL. That I set myself goals that I have no hope of achieving... and they magically happen... more than 2 dates!!! Omg... I'm a dog again soon...

This has changed my lfe!

I discovered RBC by chance last summer, ordered the first book and was immediately hooked. So many ways of challenging yourself and learning new stuff along the way. The many possibilities appeal to my slightly ADHD brain and give me a target to work towards. Other reviewers have listed the badges you can do from crafting to adventures to "Adulting" so I will just add there is also a "Spoonies" section where Rebels with various limiting conditions can discuss the different challenges and how best to adapt them to personal circumstance. Unless you're doing it for points (which I'm not as that's too much pressure for me) it's all self assessed - no point in cheating when you're the one deciding if you've done enough to award yourself the badge! My daughter is also a Rebel and we assess each other's efforts which works brilliantly for us. I haven't had so much fun in years!

RBC has really changed my life

RBC has really changed my life! It is an amazing woman owned independent business. With lots of opportunities to engage with a like minded community both online and in person. RBC hosts a range of activities from active challenges such as the three peaks challenge to more chill crafting workshops. I have met so many wonderful people through the group and am so grateful!

A very friendly and inclusive community.

When I turned 50 and took my eldest to uni I decided that actually parents and all grown-ups are allowed to have fun too!
I joined the Rebel Badge Club and threw myself into the community, which is incredibly welcoming and inclusive.
I have challenged myself to do things I wouldn’t have done, I have made lovely friends I never would have met and most importantly, I found a bit of myself again. Very grateful to have found this club. 🌟

Why Rebel Badge Club

I have been a member of Rebel Badge Club since October 2021. I've completed merit badges outside my comfort zone and completed lots of the monthly and quarterly challenges. I've yet to get to camp but have plans to go next summer.

Charly is a genius

Charly is a genius! RBC is providing me with what I didn’t realise was missing from my life - a focus, a way to switch off from work, interaction with others, a sense of purpose, a way for my ADHD brain to work. Not only are there over 150 merit badges but the monthly and quarterly badges keep the whole experience ‘fresh’. Badges are well thought out, challenging yet achievable. I’m yet to do a meet up with other Rebels but the beauty is that you can get however involved you want to be. I can’t recommend RBC highly enough xx

A great club to find new skills , earn badges and make friends for life

I have been a member for over 2 years and I have completed 80% of the badges from volumes 1 and 2. I have discovered skills I had forgotten I had, pushed myself so far out of my comfort zone and made a fantastic bunch of online and local friends, who will do just about anything for cup points. There is a huge variety of badges and clauses across 6 different themes, and once you have volume 1 you can apply to join the Facebook community. There is wild swimmer, model maker, librarian, scientist, to name but a few. If you have ever wondered why the kids should have all the fun completing and earning badges, then this club is definitely for you. The are also monthly and quarterly challenges as well as meet up, camps and destination games like traitors. I would definitely recommend you give it a go!

Fun and supportive

Taking part in Rebel Badge Club over the past three years has helped me build up my confidence and my skills so much, particularly as a chronically ill person. I’ve met so many fantastic people and done things I’d never have even thought of without the inspiration of a book full of badges and a supportive community behind it. I’ve had family comment on how much more outgoing I am since getting more involved in RBC, and I can truly see that change in myself too, especially from how anxious I was before my first meet-up - as it happens, a lot of other Rebels attending things for the first time are often in the same boat, and it’s genuinely a pleasure to realise that you’re among friends at events, if you’re able to attend them, including the online-only Rebel Fest held twice a year.

Almost all of the badges are self-assessed, which is great for accessibility as it means you can judge for yourself when you've fulfilled the challenges the badge sets out for you, and make any necessary adaptations for yourself, for example taking longer than three months. Sharing badgework in the Facebook group is encouraged so everyone can share in your achievements! The only badges that are evaluated by others are ones you specifically sign up for with that knowledge, such as Mavericks or Super Scavenger, if you fancy an extra challenge.

The shop is really easy to navigate, with different sections so you can find a specific bit of merch you had your eye on, or browse the fun badges if you’ve somehow run out of ones you need to sew onto your blanket, and the order confirmation email has lots of helpful info, such as if there will be a bit of a delay in sending out your order, as well as links for new Rebels to have a read about all the different bits of the Club - as it’s grown an awful lot over the years! There are so many different Facebook groups, in-person and online events, monthly challenges and more to get involved in if you want, and friendly Rebels who take part in a buddy system to help newcomers find out everything that’s going on, if desired.

Charly does an exceptional job running the Club and creating new things regularly, supported by a brilliant group of mods across the groups who are very active and supportive. I’ve always received friendly customer service, and seen a genuine desire to make events and badges as accessible as possible to an incredibly wide and diverse group of people, including taking on board ideas and suggestions for badge clauses and making alterations based on constructive feedback, such as after events.

I genuinely can't recommend the Rebel Badge books and groups enough for anyone looking to try something new.

Bereavement Support

I found this group after a traumatic bereavement and I don't believe I'm over stating the situation to say it saved my life.

Having fun with purpose and keeping myself involved in the world has been so engaging. You can get as involved or not as you like, buying as much or as little as you want after the main book. Such friendship and care and laughter.

Accidental Life Saver x

I get that sometimes it's an overused phrase, but the Rebel Badge Club genuinely has changed my life.
I was at a tough time in my life when I found the Rebel Badge Book pop up on my Facebook adverts. Recovering from a broken back, suffering with CPTSD and quite frankly in a proper downward spiral.
But my therapist told me to try something new. This was my something new.
So I bought the books, I joined the Facebook group and then I started earning badges. Then I went to events. The store is easy to use and I've never had a delivery take longer than estimated. I've even been able to save on postage by picking up at events.
14 months on and thanks in no small part to the Rebel Badge Club community Im feeling not just back to the person I was before. But someone new and improved.
My therapist, my family and my friends have all commented on how I am so much more positive.
I cannot thank this group enough. My breakthrough was at summer camp. I was part of a low intensity group of disabled and neurodiverse people. I felt at home. Comfortable. Able to be myself without apology. And it's only got better from there.
Im pretty sure Charly didn't set out to change lives when she wrote that first book. I mean, its just for fun, right? But I know from my own experience and from speaking to so many of my new friends at Rebel Badge Club, that she has. THEY ALL HAVE.
Thank you Rebels.

So much fun

Since I joined in April 2022, Rebel Badge Club has given me a huge boost. I have tried loads of new things I probably wouldn't have considered, re-discovered childhood interests, stepped out of my comfort zone again (after feeling stuck for so long), met some members in real life, and in the summer I am going to summer camp.

When I started there was one book of 52 badges, then book 2 joined not long after. Once I had completed my first badge, there was no stopping me. The third badge book was released in December 2024. The badges are self assessed.

Something that I particularly like about the club is that there are a range of ways to get involved. You don't have to do them all. As well as badges, there are monthly and quarterly challenges that you can do and a few annual challenges. These involve various activities. For more crazy challenges you can join the Rebel Cup and score points for your patrol. You can also do the maverick awards, a kind of adult Duke of Edinburgh awards.

I also love how a very wide range of interests are provided for in badges, challenges and club point challenges. Whether you are inspired by creative activities, self development, serving your community, books, sport and fitness, nature and outdoors, cooking, learning new things or performing, there is something for you.

I am so glad to have seen an advert for this group and I am looking forward to more adventures over the summer.

Rebel Badge Club changed my life

Rebel Badge Club is such a brilliant idea. The core of the club is the merit badges - there are over 150 badges across 3 books, which are self assessed, but you can also join the friendly Facebook group for mutual support, ideas and chat. There are other FB groups too, such as Rebel Readers for book lovers, Spoonie Rebels for disabled and neurodiverse Rebels, and Rebel Pen Pals (for fun mail).

If you want to get even more involved, there is the Rebel Cup, with assessed tasks that change every month, the assessed Maverick Awards (a bit like the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, but there are no age limits here), and regular events all over the UK so that you can meet people face to face. I've met so many lovely people via RBC and done things I would never have imagined.

The online store has books, stickers, badges and other merch. Charly runs the Club and the store pretty much single-handed, but items are always sent out in a timely manner.

Excellent badge book…

Joined buying the first boom in 2021 and I’ve been hooked ever since. You work in your own time to do badges related to interests. There are loads to choose from and on top of this there are monthly and quarterly badges too! You buy the badges from the shop when you feel you’ve completed them. The Facebook group to go with it is great. Overall I’ve had a great time at events run by rebel badge clubs including meet ups and camps which were all accessible and adapted to my needs and I’ve made some great friends. Anytime I’ve had a question or query I always get good customer service. Can’t fault it! Amazing idea and so rewarding!

Fun and interesting

I bought my first Rebel Badge book (volume one) a few years ago simply because it sounded fun, followed up with volume 2 and then volume 3 just before Christmas. It certainly has been fun but its also been a great way to learn more about subjects you were already interested in and discover new interests and hobbies. You don't need to engage in any of the Facebook groups to enjoy the badges, but the groups themselves are incredibly supportive. I particularly enjoy the Rebel Readers group and our monthly online book group.

Life enrichment in an inclusive kind community

I want to share my experience with the Rebel Badge Club, and it has been nothing short of fantastic! The initial offer of a book of badges was such a fun way to self-assess my activities. From there, monthly and quarterly badges kept the excitement going, with scavenger hunts in the summer and a delightful big-kid winter allowing us to relive those festive activities.

The real gem has been the day events across the county. My first one in Reading had me feeling nervous, but I loved it so much that I booked my next event on the way home! These gatherings are packed with amazing activities, including samba drumming, sugar craft, puppetry, dog first aid, and jewellery making. I even tried sessions like art or drum and bass, which I would usually shy away from due to lack of skill. Yet, the Rebel Community is so inclusive that I've always felt welcome.

Summer camp and various weekend game events followed, giving me the confidence to try new things, regardless of my age or fitness level. It's impressive how one person runs this vibrant club—she must never sleep! I’ve ordered from the shop multiple times, and despite a few hiccups with Royal Mail, the service has always been prompt. The club continues to grow as new members join this safe, inclusive space where kindness is the only rule!
