I paid for 4 days parking (nearly £60) - They Fined Me TWICE
I paid for 4 days parking (nearly £60), in Wells-next-the-Sea. Unfortunately, I used my old car registration, but this was not helped by the terrible 4G, which meant I had to try and pay / log in / register multiple times. The new registration did not update on the App. They fined me, and I paid £20 to get rid of it, then they fined me again for the same issue over the same period (when I left the car park during the 4 days), this time I tried to fight the case, they use the letter of the Law and I ended up having to pay £100 fine. So over all, to park for 4 days I paid the actual fee (circa £60) and then a further £120. This was issue caused by me, but not helped by the poor 4G and then by RCP NOT using any common sense or showing an appreciation of the situation, which I think they should. They are out for themselves, they just want to Fine you and don't care about how the issue arose, the fact you paid the correct amount, tried to do the right thing! They are parasites!
Scammers
As other have said, absolute scammers. Paid for car parking in Norfolk and still charged me. Told me could complain to their head office but if lose then would be subject to the full £100.00 fine.
They then e-mailed me maps to say this machine belongs to one company and the other is not ours and their signs do not explain properly. I put in the car registration and these machines do not issue a ticket. I gave them all the information my bank could supply but still was not good enough. I made the payment merely to get them off my back but going to take legal action as should be allowed to get away with ripping off law abiding citizens. Not had a parking ticket in 60 years so what makes them think I would suddenly park illegally. I will never park in this car park again and not giving them another penny.
Parking charges for exceeding the time limit.
I find it difficult to understand the justification for the level of charges imposed for exceeding the maximum permitted parking time. While I recognise that a system of enforcement requires some form of excess charge to discourage misuse, the fees applied often appear wholly disproportionate to the length of time by which the limit has been exceeded. In many cases, a relatively minor overstay results in a charge that bears little relation to any actual loss incurred.
It would be helpful if this company could provide a clear explanation of how these charges are calculated and why such amounts are considered reasonable. Transparency in this regard would go some way towards improving public confidence in the fairness of the system. I have no objection in principle to paying a penalty where rules have been breached; however, I strongly object to the scale of charges routinely levied, particularly where motorists may have had legitimate or unavoidable reasons for exceeding the maximum time.
Ultimately, any parking enforcement regime should be based on charges that are fair, proportionate, and reflective of genuine costs rather than punitive in nature. At present, the amounts charged by this company, and others operating in the same sector, do not appear to meet that standard.
It is also noteworthy that this company appears not to engage with or respond to negative customer reviews. This absence of any meaningful dialogue raises legitimate questions about how seriously customer concerns are taken. One might reasonably conclude that there is little interest in accountability or in addressing widespread dissatisfaction.
Given the scale of the charges imposed and the impact they have on members of the public, this lack of engagement is disappointing. A company confident in the fairness and proportionality of its practices would surely welcome the opportunity to explain and justify them. Silence, by contrast, risks conveying indifference and does little to inspire trust or credibility.
If this company believes its charging regime to be fair, transparent, and reasonable, it should have no difficulty responding openly to criticism and explaining why excessive charges for minimal overstays are justified. Until such explanations are forthcoming, the perception will remain that customer feedback is simply ignored rather than addressed.
Ripped off again.
Put registration number in, machine only picked up first 4 characters. They fined me 20 pounds for failing to put full registration in. So I said no other car in this country has the same first 4 character reg as mine. Hard luck you failed to put all your registration in.. pay us. These parking companies are rip offs. All of them being used by councils for financial gain.
Got a penalty ticket in Wells
Got a penalty ticket in Wells, Norfolk, although I paid and displayed my ticket in windscreen. What is their game?
Luckily I still have my ticket and have obviously appealed.
Total Scam...No Refunds
Booked a spot and then found it impossible to find decent directions to the car park. Cancelled the booking 1 hour later and this company does not refund your money. It's held illegally as credit 'allegedly' to be used within 6 months or it disappears. Total scam. Will report to Trading Standards
Parking in a car park with the sign…
Parking in a car park with the sign in-front of my car for parking that i paid for - few weeks later get a fine for parking in the wrong car park?? inadequate signage - catching people out with 2 car parks that have the same next door (water st car park in Manchester).
Poor replies and no apologies for the mistake - even with evidence of parking and signs!! reduced fine to £20 for ‘human error’ when it’s their fault! never parking here again - CHECK YOUR TICKETS AND TAKE PHOTOS OF CAR AND CAR PARK AND SIGN. absolute scammers. set up on purpose to catch out motorists - even those that pay!!!
Last time I will ever be parking here.
Last time I will ever be parking with this company. Arrived at the car park and promptly paid the charge via the barcode on the sign INSIDE the car park. I then a few weeks later receive a letter for a parking charge notice. It turns out that for whatever reason, the signage in their car park doesn’t actually lead you to the booking for their parking, but for the on street parking right next to the car park. This caused me to have apparently not paid to park there. Upon appealing this, there was no removal of the charge, only a deduction. I cannot believe how disgusting it is that I, and I cannot guess many other people, have been scammed into spending nearly £30 to park for just a couple of hours, purely due to inadequate signage in your car parks which I know for a fact you are aware of and have set up as a trap. I urge everyone to steer clear.
Do not use this car park. Avoid
Do not use this carport. £9 for 2 hours and £19 for 4 hours. We were told we would get discount as was staying at the Premier inn. The discount is only if you stay and not use ur car for 24 hours. Customer service non existent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. THIEVES.
Will never park in one of these car…
Will never park in one of these car parks again!
What a rigmarrol to pay for four hours of parking. If your phone signal is not good, it's a waste of time trying to pay. I thought it had gone through then a few days later a bill of £60 is delivered. How do people go on if they have no mobile phone? Some people do not have internet on their phones and some people are unable to understand / follow the steps.
This company is diabolical!!
Bigbury-on-Sea
Bigbury-on-Sea
Really frustrated that I tried for 15 minutes to get a signal and pay for parking, despite the newer system of a QR code linking you to an (intermittent) internet connection. Paid for the parking. Got back to the car at the end of the parking and it took 10 minutes to pack the kids and kit into the car and set off. Got a parking fine for £60. It should be made clearer that your parking ticket needs to include the faff time of trying to buy a ticket in the first place and that it should include the time in and out not just parked time. I’d like to appeal to raise my views but that tips you over the 14 days and into the £100 category.
A thoroughly dishonest and incompetent…
A thoroughly dishonest and incompetent organisation. I parked in the Freeman Street car park, Wells-next-the-Sea on 15/8/2024. Paid £6 for 2 hours and exited within the alotted time. Subsequently received a demand from a debt collection agency for £100, for non-payment. Having provided a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment had been made and after writing to the director, my appeals were ignored and subsequently I received a letter from a firm of solictors threatening court action for an estimated cost of £277. This was strenuously rejected in the strongest possible terms. Finally, after 8 months' harrassment, I have just received notification from the solicitors that the matter has been discontinued. What a shambolic waste of my time; as I said at the top, RCP are an utterly dishonest organisation. Do not be intimidated by their underhand tactics.
I had a great experience with RCP
I had a great experience with RCP. Provided you have a legitimate basis of appeal, they listen, they consider, they operate with integrity and review on a case by case basis. Great customer service. Didnt take me ages to get through to their staff in the call centre. I spoke with a rep over the phone and he genuinely cared about my situation. Very kind people. They do not trade aggressively. They will only charge you what you owe them and they will listen to reason. They are people like you and me, I have dealt with companies in the past who trade aggressively and this company is not like that at all. I am really impressed and any negative review against this company should be taken with a pinch of salt. Great company with great people
I used RCP car parks in different areas…
I used RCP car parks in different areas of UK. But last experience was an extremely bad experience and found the " Guilty till proven innocent " does not work with them.
I paid for a car park 24 hours in Manchester on January 2025 I uploaded my car type / colour and registration then took a photo of my car then paid £7.50 it took my money and a receipt came up for my wife's car safely parked back at home... I thought a bit confused it must be a record our other car that used RCP parking before. so thought no more of it.
I then receive an invoice charge notice for £70.00 a few days later informing me ( with Photo of my car ) I had parked and NOT PAID... so I sent copy of receipt and details of my payment and photo of the process on my phone as I used it on that day, I explained the way and process I used on the day and was happy their system would see that the registration that was paid for was not parked was entered correctly into their system but some how the other car reg came up on payment receipt at the end, I done this by email as they cant take a call. I was then sent another email reply back to say you have to make an appeal but not to them but another part of their organization through the internet. So I did and yes you have guessed because the wrong reg on receipt Its a fine. I cant understand what the system does when you enter your reg car info and Photo to them...?? They eventually said because its the wrong reg on receipt ( NOT DISPUTTING NOW THAT I HAVE PAID ) I have now to pay an extra £20.00 that's better than £70.00 and again if I did not pay this and wanted to put the appeal to another party the fine goes back up to £100.00 ..! but this is WRONG I said I will pay £20.00 under duress but could they please send my £7.50 back as they seem to have forgotten I had paid. I am a pensioner so money isn't readily available for this unexpected issue. Guess what no reply to my request for £7.50 return. They have you with the threat of bigger fines. Please be ware of this Business as they take no prisoners avoid them like the plague. This is my feelings now as it spoilt a Christmas present from children night and show away for us both in Manchester.

All to happy to take money from the elderly and then threaten them for more money
Honestly feels like a massive scam
Honestly feels like a massive scam. Went and tried to pay 2 weeks ago. I got an online confirmation claiming I had paid for 12 hours. I had been in a rush and usually ill screenshot such messages but had forgot in this case.
Turns out I got no email and no money came out and now I'm being charged 2 weeks later for £60 on a £2 odd car park.
Used to use the same car park often under previous ownership with no problem. Safe to say while RCP own it there's no chance I'm going back.
If I could have given less than one…
If I could have given less than one star I would have. Tried to park. Neither machine ( which only took card payment) working. Only other option was downloading an app and paying online. Don't have phone banking so not an option. By the time we, and several others having the same problem, had overstayed the ten minute grace period. Parked elsewhere and then rang to point out not our fault we had overstayed the ten minutes. Told we may still get fined as, as far as they were concerned, they had provided another way pf paying and it was my choice not to do phone banking. Really very rude. Would never ever use RCP again. Discriminatory towards the elderly as that is the demographic least likely to have phone banking. Suspect they are making more money in fines than car parking charges as the car park was empty.
Appalling company.
Appalling company.
Like everyone else me and my partner could not get any signal at Bigbury on Sea. We were there to take my disabled son for surf therapy so after20 minutes of struggling we gave up.
I was issued afine and as I’d been away had missed the appeal deadline. Tried to pay online only to find it impossible to access their url for payment. Phoned them and you can’t pay on the phone. Only other option is a cheque in the post. What a hassle and what a shambolic Mickey Mouse operation.
SCAM Company , worse than NCP
Parked in Bournemouth, the Square.
Whilst I understand I should have checked, there is no / very limited signage describing that it is pay and display.
Guess it a good way for the company to make money through fines though.
PCN keep receipts!!
Issued with parking charge notice after paying £12 online for the day. Signal at the beach is bad, however still managed to pay but somehow the car reg was not input when entering the info online. However, full payment was taken at the time. PCN then arrived in the post for non payment.
Appealed and submitted receipt as proof of payment as bank account statements are also not accepted. The company try to make things as difficult as possible for you to appeal and provide proof! Appeal was unsuccessful, reduced to £20 which is obviously to cover their admin fees but I do not feel this is fair when any logical person can see that payment was made in full and proof provided! Will never use the car park again.
