It was very easy to re join the gym simply by clicking re-join button on my app. I like the flexibility of the app and the ease access to the gym. I also like the fact that there is no contract so we can easily cancel the membership via the app.

It was an easy and pleasant joining experience, my access to my account was denied, so I've been told to contact the member customer service, a call back has been arranged promptly and the customer service agent proceeded my joining at half price plus free membership joining fee, can't ask for better deal. I hope I'll enjoy my gym sessions soon.

I have been a member of PureGym Southgate for a few months. I made the unfortunate error of giving my personal details to one of the personal trainers (CGBodyBoost) for their spin class. These personal details were not used in accordance with GDPR. Furthermore, this particular personal trainer took it upon themselves to make my training environment very uncomfortable by hanging around me for extended periods of time and staring. Other times she would gather other people around her staring and then whispering to those next to her. I've also heard from other members that Claire was speaking about me behind my back to other members.

When I raised this with management, they phoned me to say it is not a PureGym issue, despite this person being a member of staff and my details were collected for the purposes of the business. They have also said that SafeSpace will not deal with my issue. Please be wary if the gym manager, Sereen, phones you after raising a complaint with her. This will be her attempt to silence your concerns rather than addressing them.

I am disgusted with this response as PureGym frequently advertise being against harassment, but when it's brought to their attention, it was immediately dismissed.

For this reason, if you want a peaceful training environment with staff the take their professionalism seriously, I would give PureGym Southgate a wide berth.

Since writing this review, I have escalated this to Member Services and SafeSpace- I will update this review with the result.

Update: I was told that the CCTV associated with this event has mysteriously been erased. Unfortunately they do not take harassment complaints seriously at all!

Very helpful & friendly staff. (Unfortunately the 'zero joining fee' code didn't work)

PureGym Southgate is a clean and well maintained centre.
Loads of equipment and classes to choose from.
Changing rooms and toilets are well maintained.
The staff are generally very professional and approachable, willing to show you how to use a machine correctly or different options to an exercise.
However, there are a couple of factors that have made this review get a 3 & not a 5.
1, The free weights area is over ran by children with absolutely zero supervision, and they have no idea of what they’re doing, one day someone is going to get injured badly and because the gym has no supervision, they’re going to be liable.
2. Most cardio machines are really old, they have been there since it was LA Fitness… 100 yrs ago.
3. One of the staff members is extremely rude to numerous members. He tries to intimidate people and is the complete opposite of the other staff there.

PureGym value for money = Yes
Overall experience = 50/50
Would I recommend = 50/50
Would I have joined knowing what I do now = Probably not, purely because of the above 3 reasons.

The general experience of using Southgate gym is good. However, in the main area, when the third party training group does trainings, they play music in a portal speaker, the volume is too loud. I find it’s disturbing sometimes.

The personal trainers of the group often keep big numbers of dumbbells / weights for their own trainees to use, and many times two to three pairs of dumbbells per trainee, hence, nearly no weights left for real PureGym members to use.

It would be great if they could be more considerate, especially the trainees of this third party training group are not in PureGym membership schemes.

An abundance of brocolli haired kids crowding 1 machine was not as bad as the hygiene levels in this gym. I believe there are toxic waste areas in Chernobyl less hazardous.

Most of the gyms are excellent but I had to score low based on an experience at Southgate gym. One of the instructors was so rude during a class and only to me. When I did not do one part of the class he kept bothering just me telling me to do it and then proceeded to tell me I have no manners and swore at me telling me not to come back when I asked him to leave me alone. I made a complaint but never heard anything back about this awful experience. I have never been back to this gym because of this reason. Other gyms are good and have great classes but it’s hard when this one traumatic experience hinders you progress in the rest.

Lovely Trainers and admin team is extremely supportive and the location is quite easily accessible

Layout of the gym didn’t flow well, weight machines were quite spread out and not grouped together well by muscle groups either. Didn’t go upstairs so can’t comment on that.
Gym itself is tired as is equipment - used 2 weight machines that did not move well due to rusting/wear.

Good variety of machines and free weights. Plenty of cardio equipment. Clean showers and changing facilities. For the money it’s well worth it.

Really dissapointed! It smelt awful and made me want to throw up.
Please please work on this as I pay to come here and I’m not sure why you haven’t rectified this after other members have complained about the exact same issue.

The classes are excellent.Sebastian ,Antony, Georgio👌🏻Top instructors.Any feedback is well taken and the classes are always enjoyable. For the upper management, please bring more weights for the classes , change the spinning bikes and have regular cleaners.
