Great and seamless service albeit application taking a long time.

Proportunity helped me out to secure my first property.
With the added support from them I was able to expand my deposit, which not only helped me to get a larger pool of properties but also better interest rates on my main mortgage. Overall a very good experience, and I can recommend them.

We had such a great experience of working with Propertunity. They kept us up to date with everything at all times be it phone call, email or letter we knew at all times what was going on. We are so happy that we have been able to get the house of our dreams!

I would recommend proportunity if like us, you are struggling to get the deposit. It really came to us at a good time as we had just saved enough for the required 5% mortgage and then due to COVID the requirements became 10%. My only disappointment was how long we took to get the funds but that did not hold up our process, so still wouldn't blame the team totally. COVID has really affected normal life. We are grateful to have the opportunity that proportunity has given us.

I'm really thrilled with Proportunity - it's such a great idea. I'm not eligible for the Government's Help to Buy scheme, shared ownership etc. However I wanted to buy a home in London, which without Proportunity, would have taken me years to save for.

Proportunity really delivered for us and allowed us to purchase our property, despite the current restrictions on high LTV mortgages as a result of the pandemic. Being a young company there were some process hiccups and delays along the way but Stefan, Matthew and other members of the team were able to get them resolved so we can now enjoy our new home. Once the application process is streamlined and automated Proportunity will truly have an unbeatable offering.

The product itself is fantastic, the ability to buy a first home in London when not eligible for any of the government schemes.

Some of my comments may be out of date as we first started in September 2020 and I know things have changed since.

Proportunity themselves we didn't end up dealing with too much as the legwork of the formal application is done through a mortgage broker (London Mortgage Partners for us). The only interactions were to chase up our application over a few weeks however this was in November which I understand was incredibly busy. They provided the cash on time just prior to completion in February 2021.

We spent a long time using the Proportunity website to find a flat, but found that the flats listed on there were often older listings and/or out of date and thus inevitably a poor deal. The most effective way was to find listings ourselves, and submit those explicitly into the Proportunity site. The calculator pretty much works solely on floor area (as reported on the original listing) and location, which means it can feel like it's reporting inaccurate over/under value.

If you are taking out the 95% equivalent (so only putting down a 5% deposit yourself) you need to be aware that this means the contract deposit paid on exchange is only 5% (instead of the "normal" 10%) which can make the seller think twice.

I understand we are not allowed to let our flat whilst it has the Prop loan too, however they were ok with me registering a consultancy business at the address.

I think the documentation of exactly what the process entails could have been clearer with examples and case studies as this is a product really geared towards first time buyers who have no experience in this market. The video sessions and Q/A were excellent though and really helped.

Proportunity helped us get on the impossible London property ladder. They hooked us up with a mortgage broker who was great and specialised in this type of property purchase. From that point on it was a matter of doing a few application forms and the process was then handled by our solicitor with no issues. The equity loan part is well explained by the helpful webinars. I didn’t give 5 out of 5 because i felt the interest only payment piece was quite unspecific from the outset and so at the beginning of the process it was a little hard to cost the monthly payments. This was resolved with the paperwork Proportunity supplied. So the only feedback i have is to make the interest only payment part of the loan clearer from the webinars.

I would like to communicate my thanks for the services. All through the process the advisors were very helpful and they answered all the questions. There were no delay in funding as well. The only thing I would recommend is try to reduce the time you need to process and approve a loan application. The processing time was almost 4 weeks- which is much higher than the normal banks which process an application in 3-5 days of time. Also I would recommend to increase your awareness in the sales agent community. My agent was not aware of Proportnity and was initially nervous about accepting my offer. However, I am really happy with our service and will have no reservation is recommending to my friends.

We secured our 3 bedroom house at Reading through Proportunity and the Proportunity Customer & Lending Teams handled communications from the offset between the Lender (Halifax), Our Solicitors (EJ Winter & Sons) and ourselves. Proportunity Teams were very helpful, polite, easy to contact and always willing to help throughout the purchase process. We needed to meet a critical deadline as the incoming tenant was moving in on the Monday 21 December 2020 and the team prioritised and stepped up the purchase process including releasing funds early enough to ensure we were secured. We achieved the exchange of contract on Friday 18 December 2020 and completion on Monday 21 December 2020.

Proportunity Team had in-depth patience for us as first-time buyers and after our encounter of excellent, efficient, professional and caring service with Proportunity, they have helped us to buy our house which we could not have afforded without them and have left a memorable mark in our History Books and would highly recommend for anyone who needs their services.

Anytime I receive emails from them and see the bottom message “Own your home, Own your future!” it reminds me of our special experience.
